Watching only for Megumin. I hope this raises her profile again and she holds concerts etc outside Japan. Balloting for tickets to her events inside Japan is hard enough

It would have been better if Masaru had broken a few branches on his way down and landed on his feet rather than his freaking head. And if he hadn't been so high to start with, what's with that?

To be fair, you can hear branches breaking before he shows up. But honestly - I'm not watching this show for realism after that train crashed INTO THE CIRCUS.

Damn this show would be so great if it had a better concept of physics.

Episode 3

What an intense episode. I see this show really makes a good case of what these battle puppets can do. Shirogane's skills never ceases to impress me.

Narumi's such a daredvil tbh. I think he sometimes take way more risk anyone else. On the other hand, I like how his relationship wtih Shirogane has grown more that doesn't constantly involve bickering and arguments. There's a growing mutual respect between the two now.

Three episodes now and this show still impresses me.

His biggest risk taking: not learning some better comedy routines.

Episode 4 is very emotional and impactful imo. What we got is Shirogane and Narumi literally doing anything to protect Masaru. And in return, Masaru also tries his best to help them. It's one of those episode that I felt is emotionally connected to the story at its finest.

Loved how much they are investing into the characters already and we're only 4 episodes in at the moment.

It turns out Masaru is far from being an ordinary kid. He's got plenty of talent himself. He was great in this ep, only part I disliked is when he was fooled by his Uncle. He should have known better than to trust his word. Thankfully, they didn't drag that part out as his naivety was immediately pointed out by Ashihana.

The MVP of the episode was Narumi though. The way he comforted Shirogane and Masaru, and then his sacrifice at the end... That was really impactful. Hope he's alive and he'll get a mechanical arm that will help him fight against puppets.

I was really disappointed there. He hires the Kill Team, fights his way to his uncle, and then just surrenders instead of taking the uncle hostage?

Oh. I was totally not expecting how this episode ended, and as much as you can suspend your belief for a show where people fight with huge marionettes, went maybe a bit beyond that?

Yeah as much as i want to love this show, the flagrant disregard for the laws of physics can be a bit too much for me at key moments. The sudden sight of Masaru just holding the arm that was left of Narumi just looked comical to me more than tragic (and in reality they both would've suffocated to death). Would it be generous to say it was intentional? The last deed of a guy committed to comedy is an act of gallows humor. Can't say it isn't fitting - I'm just not sure if the irony is intentional or not.

That said, I am surprised that Narumi kicked the bucket after all. The real punch in the gut for me is that I was shipping him with Shirogane like crazy. What a tragedy.

As for the MC, it's cool to see Masaru level up like that but I'm hoping we don't see more pointless time wasting regressions like the one we saw in this very same episode.

I don't think it was meant to be comical. It was a call-back to the previous scene with Shirogane where he put his arm around her.

Rushed episode is rushed. I wish they learned from Ushio to Tora that if they are going to animate the story, at least get enough episodes to not make the story look like a digest.

dang, what a crazy episode.
I do like how Masaru is stepping up. Can't believe Tora is gone so fast.

They had to explain about the whole Qi thing, but man, they didn't need that, I would have believed Narumi is just that manly and alph. godamn

Yeah, I would have understood if he was at least playing along to try and fool his uncle, but I was disappointed that he actually believed him.

Pretty much agree with that. Also, the ending scene always reminded me of this :

The episode was about Masaru and Shirogane's return to their daily life, although in Shirogane's case she didn't return to the circus and followed Masaru. For some reason I thought Shirogane was older than that. It was amusing she repeatedly told Masaru not to stand out and proceeded to do exactly that herself. Very little self-awareness. And damn right she's got an amazing voice, random dude.

And then there was that ending.
