V tried to draw back, But Regius simply twisted his grip, and the grip on the hand became a lock on the arm. He twisted further, and the sound of further breaking was heard.

" You. So full of yourself. Your ideals. Meaningless. You come to assault me, arrogant in your superiority. Did you think it would be easy? Getting my position was a lot of things, but easy was never one of them. The Bureau may not like me, and I may not like them, but there was always respect..." Regius growled. A man holding a broken arm has all the leverage he'll ever need.

V climbed the wall, attempting to subvert the grip by using his own bodies joints as a lever.

Regius twisted harshly and then let go. V crashed to the floor, his support suddenly removed in mid manouver. A glance at his arm showed the presence of an open, bleeding wound caused by the protruding ends of his radius and Ulna. Regius had made the arm even worse. Compound fracture. Useless.

V made to flip to his feet, but as he did, Regius' Fist interposed itself in front of the space his face Had to pass through to right himself, and he flopped back down from a blow caused by his own motion.

Regius knelt on the flailing free arm, and began to pile blow after blow on the mask, chipping it's stony visage away piece by piece.

"...But you ignored that respect, and that's why I'm here, now, beating away that damned facade of yours..." Regius shattered another shard of the mask away.

" That's why I can't stand the likes of you. You're so full of yourself, but the moment someone stands up to you, you fall apart. I've known nine year olds that could rip you to pieces so fast it'd make your eyes bleed..." Another chunk of the mask peeled away under Regius' fist

"...This is your problem. You talk about caring about the people below my station. Well, there are none! You talk to me of kings, but in truth, I'm as much a pauper as any of them, save for one thing, a fact that obviously eludes you!" Regius spat, smashing another fragment of mask aside

" I know what Has to be done! A good commander has to love those in his command...a great commander has to be able to destroy that which he loves. To be able to focus on an objective, no matter the circumstances, is a lesson you obviously haven't learned, or you'd not have lost this encounter through pointless grandstanding!" Regius roared, picking the now demasked V up by the scruff of his neck and smashing him into a wall.

V retrieved a knife in one hand. It was easy, since it was the one jammed in Regius' chest.

Regius gripped the blade with his free hand, the blade drawing blood from within his grip, but he twisted, and the blade was wrenched from V's grip.

Then Regius headbutted V's bare scarred face, once, twice, thrice, in rapid succession.

" You. ARE. NOT. PREPARED!" Regius roared, and kneed V in the gut.

" Evidently..." V found his voice for the first time.

Slipping from Regius grip by sliding a hand under his fingers and twisting, V broke the lock, but rather than continue what was evidently a pointless, biased battle, he instead reached into his cloak.

Then the world turned dark.

Regius threw himself to the floor on his back, and waited, as the thick smoke curled in his office.

The cloud dissipated, and V was gone.

Regius moved to his desk, opened the M2D, and when the picture appeared, spke to the subordinate.

" Send a cleanup crew to my office immediately please." He ordered, then noticed the blood seeping from his hand and from his chest, " and a medic too."

" What happened, general" The subordinate asked.

" Lets just say I managed to work off a little stress..."

a little exagerrated, maybe. But this way, the rematch is that much more satisfying...

Also, you can see why there seems to be no love for Keroko/Nanoha. But I'd rather leave them to Yuuno and Jun-kuntachi.

And for my poor Shinji to have fallen for an ignorant girl like you, is one of them.”

Slowly, Matsuri turned to look at Kay, to receive the glare of a woman scorned. Kay asserted herself with her soft, yet firm voice, to convey the anger that seethed underneath.

“It is true, I created them, with my own hands and effort. Shinji is not made of flesh and blood like the rest of us, his new body a construct composed of energies you can’t begin to fathom. His actions and impulses are controlled by bytes of 1’s and 0’s…

Yes, my children are not technically human. In your seemingly shallow mind they are but mere programs to be manipulated and discarded.

But he has emotions, and feelings that can savor the joys of living, wince at pain and sympathize with sorrow. He has his own will, his own desires, his own dreams. Matsuri acted defiantly at Kay’s words, yet each word made her cringe…

“He trusted you! He gave you his attention, his time, his devotion, his loyalty, and most of all his love! And you crushed him mercilessly, because of your stubborn ignorance!”

… as Kay’s voice grew ever louder, ever angrier.

“Did the time you spent together with him simply a lie? Do you truly want to drag him through the mud for what he is not? Call him whatever you want, but don’t you ever call him JUST a program!”

Her last words delivered undeniably loud and ruthlessly clear, Kay finally rested her stance, turning her back towards Matsuri.

“You know what?” Kay spoke once more, her words unrelentingly harsh. “Shinji is too kind and too gentle a man for you. He deserves better than to be hurt like this.”

Slowly, she walked away from the scene, to leave behind a young girl, seemingly unrepentant and resolute, yet undeniably shocked. The night slowly inched towards her, blanketing her sullied face in the darkness.

Only a single word escaped her lips.

"Shinji..."

V flicked another handful of knives out from concealment. Before he could even begin to think of making the motion that would cast them, however, Regius had kicked out his desk, crashing it into V's knees and driving him to collapse in a heap.

V flipped into a crouch instantly, regaining his footing in a flicker of motion faster than the human eye could follow.

Not, however, faster than the human form could follow. As he brought his hand up, rippling pain surged through his arm as Regius seized his hand, using the knives as anvil and his own knuckles as hammer, and there was a sound of shattering carpals as V's hand was crushed beyond any semblence of utility in a single blow, the blades falling from the lifeless appendage.

V tried to draw back, But Regius simply twisted his grip, and the grip on the hand became a lock on the arm. He twisted further, and the sound of further breaking was heard.

" You. So full of yourself. Your ideals. Meaningless. You come to assault me, arrogant in your superiority. Did you think it would be easy? Getting my position was a lot of things, but easy was never one of them. The Bureau may not like me, and I may not like them, but there was always respect..." Regius growled. A man holding a broken arm has all the leverage he'll ever need.

V climbed the wall, attempting to subvert the grip by using his own bodies joints as a lever.

Regius twisted harshly and then let go. V crashed to the floor, his support suddenly removed in mid manouver. A glance at his arm showed the presence of an open, bleeding wound caused by the protruding ends of his radius and Ulna. Regius had made the arm even worse. Compound fracture. Useless.

V made to flip to his feet, but as he did, Regius' Fist interposed itself in front of the space his face Had to pass through to right himself, and he flopped back down from a blow caused by his own motion.

Regius knelt on the flailing free arm, and began to pile blow after blow on the mask, chipping it's stony visage away piece by piece.

"...But you ignored that respect, and that's why I'm here, now, beating away that damned facade of yours..." Regius shattered another shard of the mask away.

" That's why I can't stand the likes of you. You're so full of yourself, but the moment someone stands up to you, you fall apart. I've known nine year olds that could rip you to pieces so fast it'd make your eyes bleed..." Another chunk of the mask peeled away under Regius' fist

"...This is your problem. You talk about caring about the people below my station. Well, there are none! You talk to me of kings, but in truth, I'm as much a pauper as any of them, save for one thing, a fact that obviously eludes you!" Regius spat, smashing another fragment of mask aside

" I know what Has to be done! A good commander has to love those in his command...a great commander has to be able to destroy that which he loves. To be able to focus on an objective, no matter the circumstances, is a lesson you obviously haven't learned, or you'd not have lost this encounter through pointless grandstanding!" Regius roared, picking the now demasked V up by the scruff of his neck and smashing him into a wall.

V retrieved a knife in one hand. It was easy, since it was the one jammed in Regius' chest.

Regius gripped the blade with his free hand, the blade drawing blood from within his grip, but he twisted, and the blade was wrenched from V's grip.

Then Regius headbutted V's bare scarred face, once, twice, thrice, in rapid succession.

" You. ARE. NOT. PREPARED!" Regius roared, and kneed V in the gut.

" Evidently..." V found his voice for the first time.

Slipping from Regius grip by sliding a hand under his fingers and twisting, V broke the lock, but rather than continue what was evidently a pointless, biased battle, he instead reached into his cloak.

Then the world turned dark.

Regius threw himself to the floor on his back, and waited, as the thick smoke curled in his office.

The cloud dissipated, and V was gone.

Regius moved to his desk, opened the M2D, and when the picture appeared, spke to the subordinate.

" Send a cleanup crew to my office immediately please." He ordered, then noticed the blood seeping from his hand and from his chest, " and a medic too."

" What happened, general" The subordinate asked.

" Lets just say I managed to work off a little stress..."

a little exagerrated, maybe. But this way, the rematch is that much more satisfying...
