Biology would be my strong point, chemistry in average, and physics totally dismal.

I'm pretty good with biology since I actually end up hearing write a bit about it in some of my classes. (the line between psychology and biology is blurring for instance, and we get allot of in forensics and such too) I talk a better game of physics then I know honestly. I'm no expert, but given that most people seem to be total ignoramuses on the subject even my vague knowledge makes my meager skills sometimes seem god like... which is sad. A willingness to look stuff up and ask people smarter then me about stuff helps too. Chemistry I'm so so to poor I know a number of rules and such, and what allot of materials will tend to do and how they act, but the meat and bones like writing out formulas or actual lab work is beyond my level.

Luckily the internet makes looking up such more technical bits pretty easy nowadays, wiki is your friend.

Really I have no beef with someone not knowing or being an expert at something, it's when they don't know and will make no damn effort to learn for themselves, or indeed learn at all that I start to get annoyed. I recall one guy talking about using radar to guide a torpedo... underwater. I really wanted to just hit him upside the head as he clearly hadn't made even a cursory foray into research before proposing this asinine solution.

A few rewinds wouldn't hurt too much. And anything that you have in mind, but are not sure of, should be put onto the table for discussion. Admittedly, you'll find TK a bit intimidating at first, but he's actually a nice guy to talk with and one who has some interesting ideas.

Yup... Nature has had several million years for the species that inhabit this Earth to evolve their sophisticated biological systems that perform in the functions they're tasked to do efficiently. And most of them are more sophisticated and magnificently effective, sometimes better than some of our technologies. Although yes, in terms of efficiency in a given task technology still does things better.

Her outfit contained a mostly rosy white sleeved vest with lavender accents that reaches a few inches down her waist. Her arms had lightly decorated bracers, the hands having black fingerless gloves with white knuckle-guards and her combat boots were of the lightweight type and that reached halfway up her calves. Both bracers and boots had similar color schemes to her vest. Her legs were adorned with black cycling shorts that reached halfway down her thighs. She had it designed specifically to allow her maximum mobility and flexibility during combat.

Unsurprisingly, the outfit also had the added effect (actually a nuisance, according to Aurion) of drawing the eyes of the males in then male-dominated Naval Corps. Almaria, despite being a tad embarrassed, amiably brushed off the minor irritant as irrelevant when compared to the performance boost she obtains in such a design.



Device: Intelligent Device: Altair:

One of the two specialized experimental devices made by the researcher Reban Innova; the other being Aurion’s Vega. It takes the form of an energy pistol with two opposable barrels. It is outfitted with the then uncommonly used cartridge system, housing up to four cartridges at a time. It had design specifics that were only known to Reban. The A.I. has a young and polite male voice. Regarding its other specs, it has a high amount of targeting and control-amplification capability. Reban claimed that Altair and Vega would only work in their best potential when used by Almaria and Aurion; and this turned out to be true. Its portable mode takes the form of an A-shaped pendant attached to a beaded necklace.



Fighting Style: As mentioned above, her fighting style is like distinctively graceful trance. Where she seems to be simply swaying and dipping gracefully; very much like dancing whilst firing precision shots. Her movements are elegant as she seemingly weaves through attacks at a hairsbreadth of hitting her. Her barriers are impressively maneuverable, being able to deflect smaller shots and even acts as makeshift springboards if she needs to dodge quickly. Her most impressive magical skill though has to be her attacks. She oftentimes fire off moderate to high-power projectiles that are almost always quite small but have high precision and power. During close-quarters combat, when enough of these shots are in the air, an area of ten meters around her becomes an equally beautiful and deadly projectile-saturated zone. In this stage, she fully enters a trance where she dances inside the projectile deathzone, almost assuring that anybody else trapped there without suitable defenses is defeated in short order. Her degree of control over her shots is heightened by Altair’s specialized design, allowing her to control several dozen projectiles while still moving with apparent ease. Even to the point that she actually shoots herself with the controlled bullets, dodging them at the last second and making them hit her opponents instead; essentially using her own body as the enemy’s blind spot. The Lavender orbs of energy shifts at varying speeds, shifting and swirling, creating a tantalizing sight to behold.

Aurion seems to be the only person to be able to handle her techniques easily, seeing as how he usually works with her style every time they are fighting together. Not being an outright offensive mage, he tends to use pinpoint tactical shots on certain spots that allow him to stage a multi-step surgical strike. This exchange either ends up in Aurion getting hit by multiple projectiles and losing or managing to capture Almaria in a bind or hitting her with a high-knockdown power shot that ruins her mobility and eventually her trance, essentially winning the match (Aurion has been seen to defend well against Almaria’s bullets when she loses concentration). Amusingly, she gets mad at some instances where Aurion wins. Not because of the fact that she loses, but because Aurion always ends the said matches with binds on her, which she dislikes. Aurion does not change this style due to the facts that it’s one of the most efficient way in dealing against her ‘dances’ and also just to irritate her; even going as far as not releasing her for a few minutes even after the sparring has ended.

Her performance becomes several times more impressive when paired with Aurion. The two of them seems to share a strange connection that allows them to work together like a single entity. The extent of their compatibility is so great that when teamed up, they can take on enemies that exceed their overall prowess. Despite the number of Almaria’s bullets and Aurion’s illusions, they never slip in their synch and functions amazingly well.

Going by standard analysis, Almaria has the more powerful Linker Core of the two. Her focus is primarily on agile offense, preferring several lower-powered shots over high-power singular ones. However, Aurion has a noticeably faster casting time and slightly more powerful attacks than her. Her defenses are relatively decent. However, she is a bit lacking on the tactical aspects of combat, due to her reliance on her relatively omni-directional offense capabilities to cover her blind spots. This is the field where Aurion clearly trumps her aside from having better defense and speed.

Her trigger phrase is, “Burst!”

Profile: A silent and brooding person. A childhood friend, and also Almaria’s boyfriend. Was recruited into TSAB four months before Almaria. He proved to be a very talented and diligent trainee, gaining favor from the infamous Instructor Austin Abrams of the Air Force due to his commendable grit and fortitude even under the harshest of trainings. He rose fairly quickly along the ranks, earning the title of an Ace at fourteen years of age. Despite his age, he was notoriously famous for his oftentimes heartless method against opponents. He first killed a person when he was 13. He got transferred into the Navy a year after Almaria, becoming Spectrum 3 of the Spectral Enforcers. This would be his last position before the Perfect Void Incident and retiring from the army.


Personality: Serious, taciturn and a bit tactless. The Aurion from seventeen years ago can be considered worlds apart from the current one. He’s generally courteous, but can be a terrible adversary when angered. His nature as a child is rather dubious, only having a very small social circle. He finds it difficult to trust other people, initially only trusting Almaria. He prefers the company of higher-ranked and generally older people, having a large amount of respect for several of them. His peers were rather wary of him, and his attitude did little to help quell the cautious regards. Regardless, he was clear-headed and has a soft spot for kids. He generally talks with others in a polite but emotionless tone. He had a lot of interest in Device-mechanics, and took his free time as an occasional assistant to the researcher and Device-manufacturer, Reban Innova.

On a more positive note, he has somewhat lightened up through the years, thanks to the influence of other members of the Spectral Enforcers; although his abilities of sarcasm has also grown. As a soldier, he is considered to be a workaholic. To further this point, he also had a bad habit of pushing himself too much when work is involved. He's also very frugal about mundane tasks. His things are usually kept orderly. He can cook if need be, but he never bothers in making the dishes attractive. He has a bit of a soft spot for children, especially orphans such as himself. He also gets rather embarrassed when subjected to doting by elderly people.

His moral code was very utilitarian, as he had no qualms about killing a few to save several others. Almaria was very worried of this fact, remembering that Aurion was quite disturbed after his first time in killing a person. This is also the reason why he got the moniker, "Ace of the Heartless." He got his other nickname, "Hell's Inquisitor"; from the fact that he uses Willbreaker coupled with moderate to extreme physical torture when interrogating captured opponents. His main reasoning for being such is protecting those who are important to him and preventing more children like him in following the same fate.

I'm already a killer... But it doesn't matter. As long as those kids I know never end up like me. If I have to throw away my conscience in dealing with threats, so be it! Better me than them! Even if I've already become a demon, at least I'm sure I'm still able to protect what are important to me.

The only person whom Aurion seems to be completely relaxed around is Almaria. Even to the extent of taking an almost 180 degree turn in disposition. This includes actually being laid back and smiling constantly; as well as teasing her. Even when around other people, he never bothers to hide this change. Likewise, he was the only person the normally mature and professional Almaria acted completely relaxed and 'cute' with; most notably being comfortable in physical contact with him. They also like sparring with each other, with the score 35-32 in Aurion's favor.



Relationships: Needless to say, Aurion was an antisocial and cold individual to strangers. Even towards acquaintances, he rarely ever talks with them with complete sincerity, save for Almaria and some other people he respects. Gil Graham, Austin Abrams and the researcher named Reban Innova are some of the few people he holds complete respect for. The person he is closest to is without a doubt, Almaria. The reason for this stems back to when he was four... Almaria was the only person who bothered trying to talk and make friends with him, reasoning that they had the same birthday so they should at least get along well. Curiously, there was something more to their closeness than just being long-time acquaintances... A strange link that was forged between them ever since that day; allowing them a limited but accurate mutual perception. The reason behind this remains a mystery up to this day.

With that aside, his first ever, and only childhood friend was Almaria. She acted like a big sister to him, sometimes getting a reversal of roles in some circumstances. They complemented each other very well, one being stiff and emotionless while the other was bright and cheerful. As they grew up, their relationship only got stronger; culminating into being an item after one year of separation in service of TSAB.

They were really an almost perfect pair; both as people and as combatants. They worked practically flawlessly when in tandem, even at one time defeating two more-experienced S-ranked opponents despite the difference in rank, power and skill. Their abilities in combat as a pair was unbelievably good, one being a tactical and systematic aggressor and the other being a graceful range-attacker; both functioning as a single harmonized entity; almost as if having the same mind. Their lack of any melee specialization almost meant nothing when one sees them, as they support each other so well that they seemed to have a counter for just about anything, even covering flaws that both of them shared. In fact, they just worked TOO well as a team that it was almost inhuman. This was quite an oddity by those times; seeing as they seemed to be connected so well to the extent that they can actually feel each other’s presence when they are in similar locations… Some tests were run on the two, yet nothing out of the ordinary was found.

Unlike other people who've just become lovers, there's hardly any sense of shyness between them. There were also a very deep level of trust and respect for each other, assuring that they never let their adolescent impulses from taking their intimacy too far; promising each other that they will both wait until they are both old and mature enough to commit to each other. The leader of the Spectral Enforcers once made a comment that, "Che. They've just become an item. But from what I can see, their bond and understanding of each other is far, far better than most of the married couples I've seen."

He also held a lot of respect for the researcher, Reban Innova; who was responsible for bringing him and Almaria into TSAB service in the first place. He and Almaria both seem to feel a strangely calming aura around the elderly man. This person is also the one responsible for creating Aurion and Almaria’s custom devices, namely Vega and Altair. He would later also consider the Spectral Enforcers as the family he never had.



Barrier Jacket: Aurion’s Barrier Jacket was very similar to the standard Enforcer BJ design. The only noticeable difference was the darker color scheme with sharper details and a lighter frame. The performance of his requested design was significantly better than those of standard ones, allowing for good agility and defense at the same time.

One of the two specialized experimental devices made by the researcher Reban Innova; the other being Almaria's Altair. It takes the form of light energy rifle outfitted with the then uncommonly used cartridge system, housing up to four cartridges at a time. It had design specifics that were only known to Reban. The A.I. has a young and serious female voice. Regarding its other specs, it has a high amount of targeting and control-amplification capability. Reban claimed that Altair and Vega would only work in their best potential when used by Almaria and Aurion; and this turned out to be true. Its portable mode takes the form of a V-shaped pendant attached to a chain necklace. Aurion carries it around by having it wrapped around his left wrist instead of his neck. This is for almost instant access to it whenever it is needed; enabling him to whip out the rifle-device with just a flick of the wrist.


Fighting Style: Despite having very decent magic potential and combat skills, Aurion preferred to fight tactically even on the frontlines. He liked using combinations of illusion and temperature manipulation spells, essentially confusing the opponent and holding them in place with simple but effective ice spells/binds to be easily hit by finishing blows. His defenses were solid, and his speed was pretty decent. His attack capabilities were more suited for single-hit technical blows rather than battery attacks. He had particularly excellent control over few high-powered remote shot spells; being able to control them even at semi-sniping range. When close quarters combat is unavoidable, he usually surrounds himself with some Stinger Blades and uses the MEB (Magic Energy Bayonet) on Vega in order to gain distance. Given the right position, he is capable of bringing down much tougher opponents by using opportune openings and observed weaknesses to strike.

His performance becomes several times more impressive when paired with Almaria. The two of them seems to share a strange connection that allows them to work together like a single entity. The extent of their compatibility is so great that when teamed up, they can take on enemies that exceed their overall prowess. Despite the number of Almaria’s bullets and Aurion’s illusions, they never slip in their synch and functions amazingly well.

Going by standard analysis, Aurion has the less powerful Linker Core of the two. His focus is primarily on tactical offense, preferring high-power singular shots over several lower-powered ones. He also has a higher casting speed and has higher power spells when compared to her. His defenses are standard but very sturdy.

His trigger phrase is, “Attack!”

Willbreaker: A specialized depressant spell. Direct skin contact is needed on an area near the target’s spinal column. Aurion uses his hand in touching the target’s nape for best results. No long term damage is done to brain of the target as this spell only act like a potent drug. He used this mainly in interrogating; where he would use moderate to elevated physical torture combined with this spell to easily break the wills of the interrogated.

And now, for another scenario.
The following is a scenario right after a severe terrorism and kidnapping incident. Several of the subjects were too dangerous and were eliminated accordingly. Aurion got the majority of the kills, managing to finish off even the leader.

They forget that there are cases where nature clearly lags in certain aspects. No birds could fly at Mach One in level flight, no mammal can run at 200mph, and no animal can explore the depths of space.

Yes there are still things that nature can do better (like regeneration, microflight etc...), but nothing is as simple as "end-all, be-all". See the merits of both when necessary, and how you can apply them.

Now times that by say 500 planets… Even if we bump it up to 1 in 100,000 thousand we still end up with millions of S+ ranked mages.

If this is the case where the hell was the army of Nanoha and Fates level mages when the Cradle was running amok or how come we didn’t have an entire S+ platoon dealing with the BOD incident? How can forwards ranked at something like B+ can hang at all in a environment like this, etc etc. Frankly powerful (relatively) magic users being rare is the only possible justification for the tiny force levels we see the TSAB fielding, its also the only reason for them to bother training so many clearly marginal mages. If they could call upon armies of S ranks (never mind A to AAA ranks) why would they bother with guys that can’t even fly? Unless they can’t call on a veritable army of candidates and even marginal mages are rare enough to be worth training.

Touche, however, do keep in mind that the TSAB has hundreds of worlds to look after, which would explain their understaffment. Also, service in the TSAB is optional, not mandatory (as shown by Yuuno) which means that not every mage will automatically be in the TSAB.

Now, I am not saying the mage population on Mid-Childa is 90%, I find that a rather high number myself, but something along the lines of 20 to 30% sounds far more realistic, if not a bare minimum for the TSAB to even be able to exist.

Concidering the gang-pressing, I am still disputing that. The source of the gang-pressing -the novel- has shown to dispute canon before, even going as far as changing events as they happened in the anime. I am having serious trouble believeing a source that alters canon material as reliable, even more so as the gang-pressing has been directly contradicted in the series, as they gave Nanoha a choice whether she wanted to become involved or not.

Fighting Style: As mentioned above, her fighting style is like distinctively graceful trance. Where she seems to be simply swaying and dipping gracefully; very much like dancing whilst firing precision shots. Her movements are elegant as she seemingly weaves through attacks at a hairsbreadth of hitting her. Her barriers are impressively maneuverable, being able to deflect smaller shots and even acts as makeshift springboards if she needs to dodge quickly. Her most impressive magical skill though has to be her attacks. She oftentimes fire off moderate to high-power projectiles that are almost always quite small but have high precision and power. During close-quarters combat, when enough of these shots are in the air, an area of ten meters around her becomes an equally beautiful and deadly projectile-saturated zone. In this stage, she fully enters a trance where she dances inside the projectile deathzone, almost assuring that anybody else trapped there without suitable defenses is defeated in short order. Her degree of control over her shots is heightened by Altair’s specialized design, allowing her to control several dozen projectiles while still moving with apparent ease. Even to the point that she actually shoots herself with the controlled bullets, dodging them at the last second and making them hit her opponents instead; essentially using her own body as the enemy’s blind spot. The Lavender orbs of energy shifts at varying speeds, shifting and swirling, creating a tantalizing sight to behold.

Aurion seems to be the only person to be able to handle her techniques easily, seeing as how he usually works with her style every time they are fighting together. Not being an outright offensive mage, he tends to use pinpoint tactical shots on certain spots that allow him to stage a multi-step surgical strike. This exchange either ends up in Aurion getting hit by multiple projectiles and losing or managing to capture Almaria in a bind or hitting her with a high-knockdown power shot that ruins her mobility and eventually her trance, essentially winning the match (Aurion has been seen to defend well against Almaria’s bullets when she loses concentration). Amusingly, she gets mad at some instances where Aurion wins. Not because of the fact that she loses, but because Aurion always ends the said matches with binds on her, which she dislikes. Aurion does not change this style due to the facts that it’s one of the most efficient way in dealing against her ‘dances’ and also just to irritate her; even going as far as not releasing her for a few minutes even after the sparring has ended.

Her performance becomes several times more impressive when paired with Aurion. The two of them seems to share a strange connection that allows them to work together like a single entity. Concidering the gang-pressing, I am still disputing that. The source of the gang-pressing -the novel- has shown to dispute canon before, even going as far as changing events as they happened in the anime. I am having serious trouble believeing a source that alters canon material as reliable, even more so as the gang-pressing has been directly contradicted in the series, as they gave Nanoha a choice whether she wanted to become involved or not.

Not really the US army for instance uses less then 1% of the population (and is consider pretty big) and the majority of the people still haven’t served in it. So it’s not like you’d need some HUGE portion of the populace to fuel it.

I also happen to think conscription is used as well which drives down the needed percentage even more.

It really only makes sense when you’re entire system of combat revolves around people with a specific talent or skill just hoping enough of them to feed you’re military will join freely is rather foolish. I think we can both agree that the number of people qualified to be mages is lower then the number of people qualified to join a modern army and many all volunteer forces already have minor recruiting issues, now the TSAB has basiclly totally ditched a normal army so it’s mages or bust when any kind of force is needed AND they need to cover a wider area. They’re going to need everyman they can get hoping that the limited number of useful mages around joins them is a rather bad way to do business…

I just can’t see them coming across some guy with SS potential or something and just letting him totally opt out and go work in an office… It would be insane, and even in many modern democratic nations conscription for special skills is still technically possible. It wouldn’t even matter if he was poorly motivated one poorly motivated SS rank would probably still be worth hundreds of well motivated scrubs. That’s was why I found the idea of press ganging not all that unlikely, in a situation like this where some people are clearly simply better then others and always will be no matter what the others do, and by a fairly massive margin in some cases, conscription becomes the only really sane path.

When you don’t have a huge pool to draw from you can’t afford to let people decide not to play. I’m sure they’re treated nice given lots of money, good positions, fast promotions, etc and the term of service is probably only like 10 years starting at around say 18. (with one being able to opt in soonerand get it over with), but I also don’t think vainly hoping that a steady stream of the best mages are going to opt to join your army is a viable approach. Say enlistment takes a down swing maybe a scandal or something a mid version of the hippy movement whatever, and for some reasons say the top 100 mages of that generation decide they don’t feel like joining the army? Your old heavy hitters cycle out… NOW what do you do? You’ve got a huge hole in your force that you can’t really plug.

I'm sure they're perfectly willing to accept eager volunteers (as indeed is any modern army that uses conscription), but relying on that alone would be insane given the kind of system they're trying to run.

Profile: A silent and brooding person. A childhood friend, and also Almaria’s boyfriend. Was recruited into TSAB four months before Almaria. He proved to be a very talented and diligent trainee, gaining favor from the infamous Instructor Austin Abrams of the Air Force due to his commendable grit and fortitude even under the harshest of trainings. He rose fairly quickly along the ranks, earning the title of an Ace at fourteen years of age. Despite his age, he was notoriously famous for his oftentimes heartless method against opponents. He first killed a person when he was 13. He got transferred into the Navy a year after Almaria, becoming Spectrum 3 of the Spectral Enforcers. This would be his last position before the Perfect Void Incident and retiring from the army.


Personality: Serious, taciturn and a bit tactless. The Aurion from seventeen years ago can be considered worlds apart from the current one. He’s generally courteous, but can be a terrible adversary when angered. His nature as a child is rather dubious, only having a very small social circle. He finds it difficult to trust other people, initially only trusting Almaria. He prefers the company of higher-ranked and generally older people, having a large amount of respect for several of them. His peers were rather wary of him, and his attitude did little to help quell the cautious regards. Regardless, he was clear-headed and has a soft spot for kids. He generally talks with others in a polite but emotionless tone. He had a lot of interest in Device-mechanics, and took his free time as an occasional assistant to the researcher and Device-manufacturer, Reban Innova.

On a more positive note, he has somewhat lightened up through the years, thanks to the influence of other members of the Spectral Enforcers; although his abilities of sarcasm has also grown. As a soldier, he is considered to be a workaholic. To further this point, he also had a bad habit of pushing himself too much when work is involved. He's also very frugal about mundane tasks. His things are usually kept orderly. He can cook if need be, but he never bothers in making the dishes attractive. He has a bit of a soft spot for children, especially orphans such as himself. He also gets rather embarrassed when subjected to doting by elderly people.

His moral code was very utilitarian, as he had no qualms about killing a few to save several others. Almaria was very worried of this fact, remembering that Aurion was quite disturbed after his first time in killing a person. This is also the reason why he got the moniker, "Ace of the Heartless." He got his other nickname, "Hell's Inquisitor"; from the fact that he uses Willbreaker coupled with moderate to extreme physical torture when interrogating captured opponents. His main reasoning for being such is protecting those who are important to him and preventing more children like him in following the same fate.

I'm already a killer... But it doesn't matter. As long as those kids I know never end up like me. If I have to throw away my conscience in dealing with threats, so be it! Better me than them! Even if I've already become a demon, at least I'm sure I'm still able to protect what are important to me.

The only person whom Aurion seems to be completely relaxed around is Almaria. Even to the extent of taking an almost 180 degree turn in disposition. This includes actually being laid back and smiling constantly; as well as teasing her. Even when around other people, he never bothers to hide this change. Likewise, he was the only person the normally mature and professional Almaria acted completely relaxed and 'cute' with; most notably being comfortable in physical contact with him. They also like sparring with each other, with the score 35-32 in Aurion's favor.



Relationships: Needless to say, Aurion was an antisocial and cold individual to strangers. Even towards acquaintances, he rarely ever talks with them with complete sincerity, save for Almaria and some other people he respects. Gil Graham, Austin Abrams and the researcher named Reban Innova are some of the few people he holds complete respect for. The person he is closest to is without a doubt, Almaria. The reason for this stems back to when he was four... Almaria was the only person who bothered trying to talk and make friends with him, reasoning that they had the same birthday so they should at least get along well. Curiously, there was something more to their closeness than just being long-time acquaintances... A strange link that was forged between them ever since that day; allowing them a limited but accurate mutual perception. The reason behind this remains a mystery up to this day.

With that aside, his first ever, and only childhood friend was Almaria. She acted like a big sister to him, sometimes getting a reversal of roles in some circumstances. They complemented each other very well, one being stiff and emotionless while the other was bright and cheerful. As they grew up, their relationship only got stronger; culminating into being an item after one year of separation in service of TSAB.

They were really an almost perfect pair; both as people and as combatants. They worked practically flawlessly when in tandem, even at one time defeating two more-experienced S-ranked opponents despite the difference in rank, power and skill. Their abilities in combat as a pair was unbelievably good, one being a tactical and systematic aggressor and the other being a graceful range-attacker; both functioning as a single harmonized entity; almost as if having the same mind. Their lack of any melee specialization almost meant nothing when one sees them, as they support each other so well that they seemed to have a counter for just about anything, even covering flaws that both of them shared. In fact, they just worked TOO well as a team that it was almost inhuman. This was quite an oddity by those times; seeing as they seemed to be connected so well to the extent that they can actually feel each other’s presence when they are in similar locations… Some tests were run on the two, yet nothing out of the ordinary was found.

Unlike other people who've just become lovers, there's hardly any sense of shyness between them. There were also a very deep level of trust and respect for each other, assuring that they never let their adolescent impulses from taking their intimacy too far; promising each other that they will both wait until they are both old and mature enough to commit to each other. The leader of the Spectral Enforcers once made a comment that, "Che. They've just become an item. But from what I can see, their bond and understanding of each other is far, far better than most of the married couples I've seen."

He also held a lot of respect for the researcher, Reban Innova; who was responsible for bringing him and Almaria into TSAB service in the first place. He and Almaria both seem to feel a strangely calming aura around the elderly man. This person is also the one responsible for creating Aurion and Almaria’s custom devices, namely Vega and Altair. He would later also consider the Spectral Enforcers as the family he never had.



Barrier Jacket: Aurion’s Barrier Jacket was very similar to the standard Enforcer BJ design. The only noticeable difference was the darker color scheme with sharper details and a lighter frame. The performance of his requested design was significantly better than those of standard ones, allowing for good agility and defense at the same time.

One of the two specialized experimental devices made by the researcher Reban Innova; the other being Almaria's Altair. It takes the form of light energy rifle outfitted with the then uncommonly used cartridge system, housing up to four cartridges at a time. It had design specifics that were only known to Reban. The A.I. has a young and serious female voice. Regarding its other specs, it has a high amount of targeting and control-amplification capability. Reban claimed that Altair and Vega would only work in their best potential when used by Almaria and Aurion; and this turned out to be true. Its portable mode takes the form of a V-shaped pendant attached to a chain necklace. Aurion carries it around by having it wrapped around his left wrist instead of his neck. This is for almost instant access to it whenever it is needed; enabling him to whip out the rifle-device with just a flick of the wrist.


Fighting Style: Despite having very decent magic potential and combat skills, Aurion preferred to fight tactically even on the frontlines. He liked using combinations of illusion and temperature manipulation spells, essentially confusing the opponent and holding them in place with simple but effective ice spells/binds to be easily hit by finishing blows. His defenses were solid, and his speed was pretty decent. His attack capabilities were more suited for single-hit technical blows rather than battery attacks. He had particularly excellent control over few high-powered remote shot spells; being able to control them even at semi-sniping range. When close quarters combat is unavoidable, he usually surrounds himself with some Stinger Blades and uses the MEB (Magic Energy Bayonet) on Vega in order to gain distance. Given the right position, he is capable of bringing down much tougher opponents by using opportune openings and observed weaknesses to strike.

His performance becomes several times more impressive when paired with Almaria. The two of them seems to share a strange connection that allows them to work together like a single entity. The extent of their compatibility is so great that when teamed up, they can take on enemies that exceed their overall prowess. Despite the number of Almaria’s bullets and Aurion’s illusions, they never slip in their synch and functions amazingly well.

Going by standard analysis, Aurion has the less powerful Linker Core of the two. His focus is primarily on tactical offense, preferring high-power singular shots over several lower-powered ones. He also has a higher casting speed and has higher power spells when compared to her. His defenses are standard but very sturdy.

His trigger phrase is, “Attack!”

Special Spell:

Willbreaker: A specialized depressant spell. Aurion uses this spell to impede the target’s use of cohesive thinking due to directly sending impulses to the brain that messes up the several mental functions. Direct skin contact is needed on an area near the target’s spinal column. Aurion uses his hand in touching the target’s nape for best results. No long term damage is done to brain of the target as this spell only act like a potent drug. He used this mainly in interrogating; where he would use moderate to elevated physical torture combined with this spell to easily break the wills of the interrogated.

And now, for another scenario.
The following is a scenario right after a severe terrorism and kidnapping incident. Several of the subjects were too dangerous and were eliminated accordingly. Aurion got the majority of the kills, managing to finish off even the leader.

What made that bastard so different from the rest? How come his words managed to bother me this much?

His grip on his device tightens as he grits his teeth, trying to will away the maddening crazed tone from replaying in his head…

“Damare!” the quiet but clear word burst out of his mouth as he slammed his fist onto the wall behind him, creating several cracks on the worn concrete. His heaving got heavier as he tried to regain his composure.

And that’s… when I killed him… Why am I having these doubts now? Haven’t I promised myself of a never-wavering certainty? Kuso… Naze da?!

“Ungh!” Almaria gasped and clutched her chest, surprised by the sudden alien pain that didn’t come from her. Aurion…

“Onee-chan?” the three kids in front of her simultaneously exclaimed with worry.

“Ah… I-I’m fine…” She forced out a gentle smile. But later looked over worriedly over her shoulder, her dearest friend in her mind…

‘Aurion… Do you need to talk?’

‘You finish the ending procedures first, please… I’m okay… I just need a break… That last fight took a lot more than necessary out of me…’

‘U-understood…’

‘By the way, sorry about that. I’ll try to calm down a bit…’

Almaria’s expression only became more worried. ‘Please don’t worry about me. You’re talking to me after this, alright?’

‘Hai, hai… Onee-chan…’

I should have known Almaria would sense my discomfort… Aurion berated himself as he placed his knuckle on his forehead, a rueful smile playing on his lips. Making a girl worry just because of a little emo moment… Hahaha…

“Onii-chan! Onii-chan!”

“Huh?” Aurion opened his eyes, the sight of two very young kids, one girl and one boy greeting him. Sighing lightly, he smiled and faced them properly, also letting Vega form back into a necklace to wrap around his wrist. It was probably because of the similarities with him, he always found it rather comforting around kids like them… “How may I help you?”

The younger kid, the girl, only moved forward and presented him with a small bowl of fruits, “Here Onii-chan! You looked tired so we decided to bring you some snacks!”

The boy then spoke up, “Yeah! You should also take a break at a proper place instead of out here! All those cool moves must have been tiring!”

“Wha-?” as it would seem, it looks like these two were the ones who saw him fighting off the last terrorist… “Thanks… But I’m alright here.”

The girl look a bit hurt, but shook her head and once again offered the bowl, “B-but at least take some!”
“Yeah, please! She picked the fruits herself!”

“Oh…” Aurion blinked and then smiled warmly, reaching over and picking one fruit from the bowl, “Thanks… Itadakimasu.” He then took a bite out of the fruit… And it turned out to be really good. “Hmm… It’s great.” are his words as he gazed at the younger child with a smile, making her blush cutely.

The older of the two started talking enthusiastically, “Say, Onii-chan. When I grow up, I want to be an Enforcer just like you!”

“Hoh?” Aurion’s eyebrows rose with intrigue. “For what reason, may I ask?”

The kid started bouncing on his heels in excitement, “So I can do all those cool things you did a while ago!”

“Hah?”

“You know; those awesome shots and then that last large beam that you used to finish the bad guy off!” the kid was now positively giddy with enthusiasm, “I want to be able to do those too and beat up the bad guys!”

“Uh…” Aurion only gaped back in trepidation at the child… Talking about his job like it was just some sort of game… Is this what that person meant as people starting to see killing as entertainment?

“Yeah! And then that-”
“No…”
“Heh?”

Aurion silently shook his head and dropped a reprimanding hand on the head of the young boy.

“O-onii-chan?”

“That’s… not what it means to be an Enforcer like me…”

No… This isn’t what I live for…

“I didn’t enlist in this job to be able to fight and defeat bad people…”

“Then what-?”

“Do you know? I never feel happy every time I kill a person, no matter how bad they are; no matter how much I dislike them…”

I knew this the very moment I enlisted into TSAB…

“Ah-?”

“No matter what reason, no matter what people from opposing sides feel, it all comes down to the fact that we are hurting and killing each other… Tell me, do you honestly think that you will be happy if you just mindlessly kill people your commanders and rules brand as bad?”

Killing isn’t my desire… It is only my duty…

“O-ore…”

“Besides, it is not our primary duty to fight. It is to stop things like this from happening… But that also isn’t the reason why I stick to this job…”

My reason is…

“So… Onii-chan… Why are you an Enforcer then? Why are you still one when you’re not happy about it?”

“I’m glad you asked…” Aurion replies as he reaches over and pats the girl’s head as well, “What makes me happy… Is the fact that I know I am able to protect those that are important to me. As well as protecting the people who shouldn’t be harmed by the activities of people like them…” he turns back to the boy, “Instead of trying to be a hero and accomplishing nothing except being guilty for your actions… Why not just become someone that can make other people happy and not harm them?”

The two kids only stared back in awe at him’ clearly thinking about what he just said.

“Well… Do you understand me?”

The boy looked shameful for several moments before perking up and smiling again, “Yes! But I’m still going to be an Enforcer like you!”

“Huh?”

“But… I’ll become one so I can protect my sister, my family and those that need to be protected! That way, everybody can be happy, right?”
“Niichan…”
“I promise that, my sister!”
“Ah, hai!”

Aurion couldn’t help but chuckle in relief and ruffle the two kids’ hair, “That’s better…”

“Aurion! The procedures have been finished!” Almaria’s voice chimed out over the other side of the wall, “The commander is also calling for us now!”

“Ahh. Understood!” Aurion called back. Turning back to the two kids, “Well, I have to go now. Remember what I said, okay?”

“Hai!”

“Thanks…” Aurion picks up another fruit, “Mind if I take another one?”

The girl blushes again and shakes her head, “No! They’re all for you, anyway…”

“Just two is enough. Give the rest to those who needs it.”

“Hai.”

Standing up, Aurion started walking towards Almaria’s location while accompanied by the two kids, eating along the way.

Just as Aurion and the two kids rounded the last corner, Almaria’s distraught tone resounded clearly in the air, “I-iya~! W-what are you doing?!”

“Heh?” Aurion looks with confusion at the direction of the cry of surprise, only to hold back a sudden impulse of laughter at his girlfriend’s current predicament.

The children had obviously gained a liking to Almaria, and clearly didn’t want her to leave just yet. Each of her arms was held by a pair of hands from two of the other three children they saved. The shortest kid had latched himself to her legs, hugging her around the knees; essentially pinning her legs together and holding her down on the spot. She was already blushing slightly as she tried to gently detach the children from her body. However, she wasn’t faring very well and had no choice but to try not losing balance.

“C’mon, Onee-chan! Just play with us a little longer!”

“Ah… But I already have to leave. I’ll just-Oo-ooh! Hanashite~!”

“Iyada! Stay here longer!”

“Aurion, tasukete~!”

Instead of trying to help, Aurion simply planted his face on his palm and snickered, much to Almaria’s indignation.

‘Aurion!’

‘Hey, you got yourself into this, you get yourself out.’

‘Uu~! But they might-’

Aurion cut her off in mid-thought, ‘Can’t say no to kids, Onee-chan?’

She gave him a glare as her face grew redder, ‘Why do you always have to be mean to me?!’

‘I’m just being honest, Almaria.’

‘Mou~!’ she then started to loose her balance. “A-ahn~!” and fell down on her rear as even more children, including the boy Aurion talked to earlier, latched themselves unto her helpless form. “Uu~! Mou, yamete~!” she whined endearingly as she squirmed weakly against her little captors’ hugging restraints.

“IYADA!”

Aurion chuckled some more before glancing down while smiling at his device in portable form, “Everything recorded, Vega?”

[Yes... Though why are you making me record this irrelevant scene?]

“Just for entertainment’s sake.” is his only reply as he idly spun the V-shaped pendant between his fingers. “Well, I guess this should do…” he then raises his voice, “Oi, kids! That’s enough!”

After some considerable coaxing, the children reluctantly released their unlikely ‘hostage’, who promptly threw herself into Aurion’s arms in relief. After some more goodbyes, Aurion and Almaria flew off towards the rendezvous point.

After gaining some distance from the place, Almaria turned to her boyfriend flying beside her, “You no longer seemed to be troubled as much, Aurion…”

“Yeah. Thanks to those kids…”

“There are a lot of good children there, don’t you think?”

“Hmm…” Aurion nods, later shooting Almaria an amused glance, “Pretty good at clinging to a certain girl as well.”

“Mou!”

“Hey, it just goes to prove how easily you can get popular with us guys, regardless of age or location.”

“But I never asked for that to happen!”

“Oh, you don’t need to ask. I suppose it’s just an out-of-control inherent skill.”

“Uu~, hidoi~!”

“In what way is complementing you about your obvious attractiveness being mean?”

“I am NOT some sort of male-magnet!”

“Hahaha! Whatever, princess. We’re going to have such a good laugh when we get back!”

“Hey! I know you took a video of me a while ago! Delete that!”

“Heeh~? Why? You looked so cute struggling while you were being accosted by those kids.”

“Aurion, erase it now! Please?”

“No go…” Aurion then proceeds to speed up his flight.

“Aurion!” Almaria gives chase, though not having much luck due to his higher flight maneuverability. She would later give up and fly forward with puffed cheeks, with the intention of beating him to the base.

Aurion only stares ahead at his in a huff girlfriend while chuckling. A few moments later, the previous scenarios today would replay in his mind.

Aurion, slightly lagging behind the high speed flight, contemplated the recent events in his mind. I’m… not going to be like you… Aurion glances at Almaria’s lithe frame, which was flying a few meters ahead of him. He closes his eyes tightly as he concentrates on his sworn duty. I cherish the people and things that I must protect… This isn’t just my duty… This is my conviction! We may both be devils now… But I’m a different devil compared to you.

He once again opens his eyes, only to find Almaria’s face right in front of his. He wasn’t able to notice her slowing down and positioning directly opposed to him. “Almaria?”

“Aurion…”

“What are you-?” Aurion tried to talk but was cut short and rendered speechless by Almaria’s lips meeting his; eyes widening in surprise.

Almaria pulled back, revealing her melancholic eyes focused at him, “Daijoubu…” she said softly, just enough to let him hear her voice over the rushing air, “Don‘t let his words get to you… You are different… Because I know more than anybody else can; that we are important to you.” Her eyes shone with faith in him, “Dakara… Please stay the same… Our-…My reliable but silent partner.” She then smiled encouragingly.

Aurion could only gaze back at his girlfriend, an uncertain emotion in his eyes, “Orewa…” Aurion once again closes his eyes in deep thought.

“Aurion?” Almaria flies closer. “Are you al-Mmmphh!” it was her turn to be rendered speechless as Aurion kissed her this time. She let out a breathless gasp, her face blushing brightly as he pulled back and grinned roguishly.

“You don’t have to worry. Since I’m already sure with the matter myself…” Aurion said while still grinning. Despite these words, his heart felt lighter and more reassured. “Regardless, thank you Almaria.”

Almaria blushed prettily and nodded while smiling. “Don’t worry. I’m always here for you, just as you’re always there for me.”

A small silence formed between the two as they stared at each other; their own personal resolve strengthening with each passing moment. Aurion would break the silence a few moments later.

“Ahh. But…” Aurion’s smile grew wider, “I’m still keeping this video!” he then held out his left wrist bearing Vega; watching Almaria’s face flush darkly before speeding away laughing. And as if that wasn’t enough, “I wonder how much they would pay if I had this auctioned at the base!”

“Ah-ah… I…” Almaria stammered as she saw him zoom away. She then shakes her head furiously and glowers at quickly zipping away Aurion, speeding up her flight as well, “AURION! Come back here, you baka!”

“Hahahaha!”

The rest of the team could only shake their heads in wonder at the laughing couple who reached them later.

Yes… as long as I have them… I won’t hesitate. I’m sure about this… This is all someone like me can do. And I’ll make sure I won’t fail!

And some combination attacks!

COMBINATION ATTACKS: Aurion and Almaria’s almost absolute empathic link allowed them for a number of combination assaults as a single unit.

Dual Turbo Blitz Strike/D.T.B.S: One of their combination attacks, this one being set as the ranged attack. Almaria would initiate her trance with more than a hundred bullets of mixed Impact and Piercer Bolts using two cartridges. She would then start advancing towards the opponent. Aurion would first engage one enemy up close; letting Almaria’s shots (all of which amazingly never even graze him) cover for his lack of melee specialization. He would then either bind or incapacitate the opponent with any appropriate spell (usually using two cartridges for best effect), falling back into Almaria’s blizzard of projectiles afterwards. At this point, he would join Almaria and her shots in completely mauling down the opponent with innumerable energy projectiles, finishing the assault when Aurion Sonic Moves behind the opponent and stabs the enemy with his MEB (using up another cartridge) and shoot him/her towards Almaria. She would then shoot with her own MEB followed by a Kinetic Buster (using up her remaining cartridges), blowing back the enemy towards Aurion for him to finish off with a cartridge-boosted Break Impulse. A definitive elimination maneuver, the target is not expected to make it out alive after this.

Eye of the Storm Assault/E.S.A.: The close-ranged variation of the first combination assault. Almaria and Aurion would simultaneously engage the adversary up close with a staggering amount of controlled shots. They would rely on their agility, Aurion’s occasional illusions and the sheer volume of the shots to avoid any counterattacks the enemy might try.

Finally!
This time, I sure hope he feels different from the current one. For the scene where he talks with the two kids, just imagine Setsuna from Gundam 00 talking with Gimmy and Darry from Gurren Lagann. Vega is based off Zeta Gundam's beam rifle.

And though unintentionally, I managed to put in even more rabu-rabu and some fanservice as well.

Aurion gets a upgrade to his profile as well.

I added the Frost Cannon as temperature manipulation shouldn't be requiring much elemental alignment. Chrono knows about it from his studies. And Proton Buster was there for the non-elemental Buster spell. I do hope the skill set for his younger version looks balanced.

Expect a Frost Bomber and Proton Buster additions in the main profile of the current Aurion.

Very nice scenario going on there and of course Zeta's beam rifle and combo attacks are WIN.

Knowing how it will end up in the future pained me for quite a lot as well. The more enjoyment I get from making their closeness clearer, the more phantom pain I feel when i think about the big picture later. But i won't let this stop me! If this is all I can do for my favorite female OC, then I'll do her eventual demise with as much justice as I can by making her as alive as she can be in the hearts of those who read about her!

It's still sad, though. I'm actually wondering wether I should do the profiles of the top two of the Spectral Enforcers. Based on Akio and Sanae from CLANNAD.

Sanae = Motherly character. The only person in TSAB who could make Aurion embarrassed due to being doted upon (he used to have a weakness against being cared for by parent-figures. The trying-to-act-tough-I-can-manage-myself schtick.).

Basically Aurion and Almaria's parent-figures in the squad. But I don't know if I can take the pain of doing more characters with the same fate as Almaria...
