Well Athrun killed Kira's friend and in return Kira killed Athrun's comrade but in the end they both realized what they've done to the other one so they make up for the sake of ending the war

I see a similar confrontation between Lelouch and Suzaku

We'll I think Suzaku's a naturally good guy... fact one, Ive never seen him actually kill anybody. Except that part about his father... but then again he was just a kid... he probably didn't even know what he was doing.
