Light novel series Shinka no Mi: Shiranai Uchi ni Kachigumi Jinsei is getting an anime adaptation.

Synopsis

Hiiragi Seiichi is an ugly, revolting, dirty, smelly fatass; these are the insults hurled at him one after another about his appearance. Such was Seiichi's daily school life of bullying, then for some reason, one day when school was out, a voice claiming to be a God said over the PA system to prepare to be transported to another world. What's more, not Seiichi alone, but the entire school. A fantasy world where game-like elements such as as levels, stats, and skills exist. However, the God still had preparations to complete for the transfer, and would send them over as soon as the hero summoning ritual was ready. The classes all formed groups to wait for the transfer, but Seiichi alone was discluded and as such was summoned to a different area. After being transported the first thing Seiichi ate was the "Fruit of Evolution." This would come to greatly change his life...

This story is about how Seiichi went from being severely bullied by his classmates, even not being recognized for his accomplishments, and despite all that staying positive and surviving in this new world. As a result, he somehow becomes one of the champions. (Also the first heroine is a Gorilla?!)

Nothing quite like opening up an Isekai with a guy getting confessed to by a naked girl glomping on him. It's nice to see Hiro Shimono and Kana Hanazawa reunited .

The Opening isn't much to write home about animation-wise, but we do see the rest of the Harem...obviously we have Kana's redhead, a tough white-haired girl (probably the tsundere), an animal-eared ninja girl, a gal with a ribbon and ponytail, and a blue-haired knight lady .

So what if Haruyuki Arita got into an Isekai situation instead of an online game? Because that basically seems to be Seiichi's situation where he's this pudgy kid who gets bullied and ostracized for it up until Toshihiko Seki as God grabs a bunch of high schoolers out of nowhere and takes pity on him by letting him have a special harvesting ability .

I feel like what's going to really sell this show is the fact that it doesn't take itself seriously and Hiro Shimono has terrific comedic timing .

That's an interesting take on the usual RPG item drop in anime form to where what you kill just pops out items and information and get sucked into you .

It seems like Seiichi had actual friends, it's just none of them were actually in his class/went to the same school. I wonder if he'll see them again ?

So Seiichi upgrades from a fat kid to a...generically attractive Japanese Harem lead. Well, still an improvement .

I guess the first clue the gorilla was a girl was the flower on her head. Nothing says love quite like surviving the first punch. Even his finishing move of his BO Just made her fall more in love with him .

The Ending was pretty cute with the 8-bit JRPG style format and then shifting to a fighting game and even Mario Kart, while also showing Seiichi with the rest of his Harem .

So I'm guessing the status update will probably change which characters do it as we go along .

I picked this up solely because Kana Hanazawa is playing the heroine and I've barely heard her these past few months. And it's probably going to stay the only reason I watch this because it was pretty terrible. I'm actually not even sure I'm going to keep watching, it was that bad.

Hidden Dungeon was way better than this. I mean, sure, there are worse things out there but what I hate that most isekai anime fails at is proper human reactions. This one is pretty glaringly bad in that way. After the person makes the announcement at school, their reaction is like "well, guess we better group up" not "lol wtf is wrong with that idiot?" and attempting to go home. No real surprise, no clamor, just straight down to business. Nobody freaking out, especially after they find themselves in a new world. I get the author probably wants to get right to the interesting part of writing, and not having to deal with the pesky humanity of it, but still... at least make a token effort lol

Also gotta love how evolution = instant weight gain. We need to enforce the idea that you can't be a good protag hero if you are overweight, heh. Pacing was way too fast, no real time spent on any meaningful world building. It's not a good sign when I catch myself fast forwarding so much.

I'll probably still watch it, because I am a sucker for isekai anime, but I'm definitely not going into this one with any hopes.

Seiichi gets kidnapped by Saria to become her husband, and on the one hand...she's pretty S-tier from a femininity perspective, but she's also a gorilla. So, y'know, I guess it all depends on how far you're willing to look beyond looks for love and become a furry .

Well, it's nice to see that Seiichi isn't completely immune to Saria as a gorilla's charms when even he can see and blush at how affectionate and protective she is towards him .

Don't worry Seiichi, the Opening confirms we'll get some furo scenes .

The rest of transported kids have now been set with training to become heroes to fight the Demon Lord, typical Isekai stuff, although they're surprisingly gung-ho about it. I'm really curious to see how this plotline comes back to Seiichi. Like, he's probably going to have to be the one to take on the Demon Lord, right ?

Satoshi Hino is in this as a zombie Dark Lord? Typecasting much? Although he had this whole dramatic and tragic backstory to boot, although I wonder if any of that is going to have anything to do with Seiichi. Like is that Emperor that ruined his and Marie's life going to end up trying to hurt Seiichi ?

So high level enemies can hide their level? That sounds super inconvenient .

Saria takes the fatal blow meant for Seiichi and Seiichi finally admits he's in love with her. A Hero and Heroine that confess their feelings within the first two episodes and have a mutual love? Even a kiss (while Saria is in gorilla form)? Is that some strong Reiwa energy or what? I certainly appreciate it, although it makes me wonder how the dynamic with the rest of the Harem will work .

Seiichi manages to use the power of heroic willpower brought on by love for a gorilla to defeat the Dark Lord and gains a lot of abilities in the process up to and including dark magic...heck he gained so many abilities and they used up all the alloted screentime that they had to rush through it in the ending segment .

Saria finally evolves from Gorilla Tetsu Inada to beautiful girl Kana Hanazawa, and we go from naked Saria to just a shirt Saria, to even Marilyn Monroe white dress Saria! Complete with plenty of cleavage .

Is Satomi Arai like the narrator or something? Is she going to narrate all the backstory in this whenever it comes up ?

So that Mister Sheep pops up whenever Seiichi and his Harem complete a dungeon to congratulate them and hand them a care package? I wonder how often Seiichi is going to have to deal with him. He definitely doesn't take Seiichi seriously at all .

Looks like the next leg of Seiichi and Saria's journey is making it to the capital and meeting up with Marina Inoue's Artoria so Seiichi can add a tsundere to his Harem .

The MC isn't so bad. If he had fallen in love with Saria only after she turned into a super hot human girl, I would have found this development horrible. Instead, he was able to look past her appearance and genuinely appreciate everything she did for him, even going as far as to profess his love while she was still a gorilla.

And yeah, I wonder how the whole harem aspect will work given that Saria already won. But hey, you can love more than one girl and Saria seems pretty open-minded, sooo....

This show is still pretty bad, but it looks like it won't be completely unwatchable. This really was a nice improvement over the first episode.

The premise of this show is really interesting, and I was disappointed that they spooled past almost all of the first evolutions and all the stuff that happened in that time before the Saria arc. I guess maybe the source material did this too? Too bad, I really like the whole hero's journey thing where you gradually go from nobody to superhero. It's usually the best part for me. Spider had at least some of that. I hope we don't get the thing about the side characters doing side things that don't have anything to do with the main character until some later season that never comes.

Random thought: So the ultimate evolution of an ape is... the Naked Ape? Someone is taking evolution a bit literally, I think.

This isn't going to win any awards but seems like a series I enjoy watching.
As others said, while I would never be able to do myself, I'm glad that Seichi ended up reciprocating Saira's feeling while she was in her original form, he would have felt too shallow otherwise. But now that we have confirmed that true love can transcend species don't make her turn into a gorilla ever again, please. Curious to see how the harem aspect will play out in the next episodes.

Things are finally coming up Seiichi! He's now in prime physical condition and has a beautiful lady companion in Saria! All that's left is to become an adventurer and find his friends from his old world .

Wow, that's a surprisingly high-level slime, although Seiichi doesn't know his own strength and quickly slices it with dual-wielding. And Mister Sheep is enjoying Seiichi's leveling that makes him more inhumanly strong because it means he's less human and Mister Sheep likes messing with him. He even has his letter blow up in Seiichi's face for laughs .

Well, Seiichi's cloak fits the setting better than a biker helmet, and Saria got some nice boots out of the deal .

I was wondering why Claude was so wary of them going to the adventurer's guild...and then it turns out to be a guild chock-full of perverts and weirdo's openly exhibiting their fetishes and just generally being crazy. The guildmaster is an muscular muscle-lover who wears nothing but a speedo and thrusts our pair into the guild with his crotch, and the receptionist also moonlights as a dominatrix. Although admittedly she's pretty hot in both forms .

I have to admit, when those thugs grabbed Seiichi, the idea of them forcing him into a foursome was not what I expected .

We finally meet Artoria, and she's Marina Inoue playing a tsundere with big boobs and a nice butt. What's not to love? I know Seiichi went straight to staring at the merchandise, and she's definitely cute when she's flustered .

So has Artoria just been assuming she has a predisposition for endangering people when it's always a complete accident? Like, the wood only fell because the kid bumped into it and Seiichi brought the building down on himself because he doesn't know his own strength yet. She just happened to be there .

I'm kind of wondering what's going on with the other kids training to fight the Demon Lord when the guy training them is still concerned about whether they're ready and whether he even wants them fighting...and then next week it looks like Seiichi is going to fight one of the Demon Lord's generals right off the bat .

I love how Seiichi's charm has been upgraded to "Too Heart-Throbbing to Endure." Also who would want to compress those wonderful boobs on Artoria? Although Seiichi stares enough to earn a solid punch to the face .

I only see that as a net positive .

Hope this anime continues with the level of wholesomeness. As long as it doesn't take itself too seriously it'll be a good watch.

Seiichi has Isekai protagonist luck which means he can grab a bunch of rare items in the wild, but that works against him when he needs to grab a bunch of mundane items for the test. "God damn" indeed .

Seiichi just happens to stumble into a random demon plot and writes them off as a bunch of perverts (granted, having been to his guild, it's easy to make that mistake when you see eccentric people in the wild) and shows off how he can absorb his opponent's strength and sends the demons and their troll packing .

So we might one of the Demon Lord's Generals, Leia, who is a beautiful and seductive lady with a dominatrix edge with that whip. Shame her subordinates aren't into that and take the brunt of her frustration. I'm guessing she'll probably be a direct antagonist for Seiichi and company soon .

Saria acts like she can still fight like her gorilla form with her fists, but is she still as strong in her human form? They haven't really shown off what she's capable of yet .

Our heroes get transported into the lair of the Black Dragon God, one of the Demon Lord's top warriors, but Artoria's bad luck strikes and separates the party...but with that winning smile, Seiichi and Saria can't help but want to be reunited with her .

That was...a surprisingly tragic backstory for a sentient treasure chest Seiichi killed in five seconds. Heck, it's item drop was bad luck too, what's the benefit to -2 luck? Although it seems like Seiichi uses the ring on Artoria in the next episode (and add her to his Harem) so maybe it balances out whatever bad luck Artoria feels like she has ?

Fat lot of help that guide stone was when it kept running into a wall. I guess it doesn't do well with non-direct paths .

So Artoria is a "calamity" because she has a berserker form she can induce, which I imagine might have also caused harm to anyone else she was party with, but it's not enough to make a difference against the Black Dragon God and his diamond tail. Luckily Seiichi and Saria are there to make up for the difference .

Nice to get more info about Seiichi's sword and Artoria's axe, and that's the second time Seiichi's earned a punch to the face for an unwanted comment about Artoria's double-sized boobs .
