Ed is taking on Pride, and doing well. Pride says Ed is so small, he's used to fighting enemies larger than him.
But Ed replies, precisely because he knows how to fight larger enemies, he knows how smaller people like himself fight.

Skirmishes everywhere, Father taking down Mei and Al protecting her, Izumi aiding him, etc.
But now... finally, the total eclipse has come.
Father: The time has come!!!
The general who is informed of what's about to happen begs his captors to take him to the center of the transmutation circle.
As the circle is activated, and we see the faces of Amestrians everywhere.

Father: Have you ever considered this Earth as a single large lifeform? The amount of information you humans individually possess is nothing compared to a system that encompass the information of the universe... have you any clue how much power one would gain if you were to open the gate of it? The gate shall open here and now... with your sacrifices!!

Greed shows up from behind, and attacks Father, in attempt to take over the world for himself.
However, Father predicted Greed's attack, and hid the location of the center of the circle elsewhere. He activates the circle, and Hoenheim is too late to stop him.
As the transumation begins, and engulf the entire world, Father claims to open the gate of the planet itself.

The dark hands of the transmutation claims the lives of everyone in the world, including Wenry. Everyone is lying souless in the world.
Father reaches out to the gate of Earth, and calls upon god... and claims to bring God down on earth, and claim it for himself.

As Ed and others come to, he asks if everyone's turned into philosopher stone.
Father, now in his perfect form, young and vibrant, thanks everyone for making him whole. He claims now both humanity and God itself resides within him.

End of chapter.

So um.... yeeeaaah.... sh**'s finally hit the fan. The world is ending, the manga is ending, and it's up to our heroes to reverse all this.
I kinda dissapointed it turned into a sekai-kei story, but meh, it was half expected. Too bad this means we most likely won't be seeing majority of the characters involved in the action.

Yes, I actually am haha, I guess it was just wishful thinking, I really didn't want that to happen. =[ This manga's sad enough already! Guess it's just gonna make the ending even more epic, when they finally find a way to turn this mess around.

I normally like the idea of everyone dying but for some reason I don't want it to end like this in FMA.
1. This would prove that the evil ones won.
2. Ed will not be able to fulfill his promises.

Clarification please:

Is it that Father absorbs the souls of everyone in Amestris or does he absorb the souls of everyone in the entire world? (sans Ed, Al, Roy, Izumi, etc. of course)

I think it's just Amestris because the transmutation circle's countrywide, not worldwide, so other places like Xing and Drachma wouldn't be affected. And I have no idea what happened to the sacrifices yet, because they seem to be conscious and not soulless like everyone else in the country. Since they're pretty special (5 people chosen out of the entire Amestris population) I think Father's gonna do something else to them. There was a panel where Ed said that everyone had become Philosopher's Stones but I'm not positive... we should wait for the scanlations to come out.

Yeah, I'm led to believe that it's just Amestris as well, because earlier in the manga Hohenheim told Pinako to vacate the country. It wouldn't make sense to tell her that if it was the entire world that would be absorbed, because then it wouldn't make a difference where she was.

Hmm, you're probably right. Doesn't change the fact that I'd really like to see it though. Plus, sometimes you can never tell with a character. They may act all smug and high and mighty, but in the face of certain death and defeat they may show their true colors. But this is all speculation.

Would it be possible for Father to 'face certain death'? What's the way to destroy him? What do our five sacrifices need to do to kill him?

I just hope he gets to feel the pain of our poor main characters. He deserves it, I agree with ya, Nobodyman.

I think we're all forgetting Honenheim's task he was working on ever since he left his home. Dropping parts of his own philosopher's stone in certain places, and from Scar's brother's notes, it seems kinda obvious that he was working on making the transmutation circle combined with the Eastern Alchemy (however it's spelled), which is probably going to play a pivotal point, either in stopping father or bringing everybody's soul back. Although, to be honest, I was actually expecting it to reverse/neutralize Father's transmutation circle.

Just read the chapter. Goddamn. Felt like I was watching the End of Evangelion.

Father just went up tremendously in my character rankings. Dragging god down to earth and making him a part of you? That's badass. And man he looks reeeeally awesome in the last page.

And man I wish characters like Kimblee and Envy were still alive, to see their reaction to this. They'd probably be laughing maniacally.

Awesome chapter! Definitely Evangelion-esque. I'm sure that Father didn't really gets God's power though, since it seems a bit too ridiculous. He also looks rather fleshy now, which to me makes him seem more vulnerable than before.

Nobodyman9: I was also thinking that this will end with Father being dragged into the gate. Characters that play God generally have pathetic deaths (ala Light from Death Note).
