A great reformer would be Emperor Meiji. He is pretty well known across many generations for unifying Japan under a true central body, gave Japan its first Parliament, organised Japan and was frugal.

Yeah, read about it recently and saw the trailer. If you really wanna have a mind trip where your braincells can't make sense of it so bad they'll just kamikaze, then you should try trailers for Takeshi Miike's movies
(more specifically dead or alive 1 & 2 coughcough) *whistles* I'll be nice and warn ya, that it is R rated, over 18, not for the faint hearted etc... Love geishas? Love robots? Love OTT blood, action and violence? Then this is the movie for you, a 'storyline' is in there somewhere, lol. At best, this only illustrates the eccentricity of some Japanese movie directors culture wise, yay Japan for extremes.

One thing I have noticed on Nico Nico is Japanese girls making video's of themselves doing otaku stuff, but with a white ninja-like mask on in front of their face. I have some theories why this is, but if anyone knows for sure it would be nice to know out of curiousity.

I actually found the introductions more interesting than the dancing; both the Hitler and the luggage videos were rather artsy. This one's also marked not for minors, perhaps because it has a rather disturbing opening, or perhaps because she performs in flesh-colored lingerie. Or maybe it's the prop she holds in the latter half of the number, if that is what I think it is.

'Beware the Suiperman', my knowledge of any Japanese literature other than manga is limited if not nonexistant but what isn't the 'Beware the Superman', the political implications of Super humans in the world or any theme of that nature explored in modern Japanese literature? Or is it just a Western idea?

Wow. That has to be one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time. And it's not easy to make me laugh. And gravure model Aya Kiguchi is in it...so I guess this is a serious thing? Looks terrible, but perhaps amusing. I can't decide what was funnier, the "Geisha Chainsaw" segment or the "Geisha Transform" where she turned into something out of Super Mario Kart.

Interesting observations from Ozawa:

Its probably going to be taken as inflammatory... but there are a number of historians and analysts in the West who have similar concerns about the culture.

Every culture have their share of problem. Japan might need to do something about the following.

Oh boy, denying Ha Shoah. It's usually done because of political reasons. The whole issue of wanting face, as if the denial would really add points to whatever agenda they're pursuing.

Hell most religions preach their way to be the 'one', but Japan preached (perhaps 'preaches' their nationality as a 'supreme race' right down to 20 generations back or so and mindsets are still fairly ingrained with that notion to this day.) I remember passing comments like this back in 03/04 while studying a 'Religion in Japan' module, it was said that Japanese people view Christianity as 'selfish' because it's just the one Lord we serve and nothing else. (yeah, if you believe there's 'kami' in everything, I can see why that notion would appear) My faith is my own business for most part, but to 'not be Japanese while in Japan' is felt extremely keenly and that's just on a social note. Not to mention, if they're really not digging Christianity, please lose the superficiality and drop the over commercialised, glamourous "Christian Weddings" and stick with good ol Shinto ones. Once that begins to happen, maybe, just maybe I'll take any religious comments that government have to say somewhat seriously. Quote:
Pardon me while I go laugh in the corner. (And no, it's not lash out at Muslims, I just don't think that statement holds much weight, if any.) But no... it definitely isn't 'religion' being the reason why the Japanese people may have lost their 'spirit', that's for sure...

I think they were referring to the aggressive conversion/proselytizing/missionary nature that Christianity and Islam project (and the demonization of any other path - heck, I've personally watched Southern Baptists call Methodists "heathen that are going to hell"). But yeah... the "we're the bestest" irony was duly noted
The "western wedding" fad is disappointing (rather important event to be fadding up with)... I'd like to see them return to Shinto weddings myself.

Or would they go for anime-themed weddings since otaku now are in a better light than they were before 2005
I even saw in some articles (Sankaku complex XD) that they are going back to sailor uniforms (no more blazers for the girls XD).... (so I was thinking that Japan is more influenced by anime now...)

I would think that sailor for summer, blazer for winter would be the way to go. I like them both. Sweaters are nice, too. And here's something kinda' fun. It gets amusing about a minute and a half into it. http://www.metacafe.com/watch/yt-wEQ...on_chopsticks/
