It is both upbeat and colorful... background art in particular is a bit more SHAFTy than the usual copy/paste the studio does.

One winter day, Tamako Kitashirakawa lives in a rather happy family whose her father is also a mochi (Japanese rice cake) maker. As she visits a flower shop from a rather popular shopping street, she strangely encounters a bird nicknamed "Tori" who comes from another world. Things get rather hilarious when he eats a lot of mochis, and for some reason he's unable to fly anymore. While he wants to go back from his country, he begins developing his own bond with Tamako. With a great animation that's usual for any KyoAni story, Tamako Market develops a lighthearted yet down to earth slice of life story that act like a typical American sitcom, and the expensive cast of characters also gets a decent amount of screentime. Not counting a romance subplot between Tamako and her male classmate Mochizou and the enticing theme songs, it may become a strong contender of the winter season.

Both of those themes are pretty underwhelming, then again I've never been a fan of KyoAni so it's probably not for me anyways!

In my opinion, it's one of the best KyoAni OPs. Probably among top 3 for me. I love it!

I love the animation in the opening, but the song itself isn't really doing it for me. I'm really digging the ending song on the other side.

I'm quite on the contrary, though. While the theme songs are still great (as I said before), I really dig the opening theme though for a particular reason. I have the feeling that the show might feel good for those who wants to find something lighthearted after spending a good time watching serious shows.

Heh the main character is dead (killed by Mochizou in the fatal encounter) and the bird is her guardian angel trying to convince her to move on.

I love lighthearted stuff! I just don't like basically all of KyoAni's lighthearted stuff. So again, probably not for me!

I'm just sad these are probably the first KyoAni themes I'm not going to get right away.

Wonder if Weds. is supposed to be the "Nothing Happens" day...
I guess the things worth noticing in the episode was what Keinas reincarnated into and the sub-characters being filled with popular voice actors, despite a nothing OP or ED.

Other than that.......
...? *shrug*
At least I tried it out, I guess. Okama OnoD is so not new, but I guess that was worth a laugh when he first appeared.

Anyway, first episode of Tamako Market is pretty fun to watch. In my opinion Tamako Market has the colors of Nichijou and the fun of K-On!

Tamako really seems to channel a lot of Yui Hirasawa personality through the series. From the disheveled hair to her floaty personality, she is kind of carefree in a sort of airheaded way.

The show is okay. Nothing really grabbed me and the show is a bit moeblobby similar to K-ON in certain regards to its pacing I guess.

Dammit, I really, really wanted to hate it. But it was pretty good. I'm glad the bird is actually the MC - it makes for a much more interesting show.
