If there's one thing I've learnt about collecting figures, it's that you will have no problem off loading an icon that people can readily recall. Something like Rei Ayanami will have an established fanbase. Miku is on her way to immortality, even if she had not attained such a state yet.

I have Erio nendo enroute at the moment. I don't even remember when/why I ordered her but I suppose I'll hang on to her until I find somebody to take her off my hands. Preferably with my other nendos and playsets. They're cursed! Vile moneypits. ;.;

I bought my first thinking "Well, it's cheap, why not..." and now like $500 later I'd rather I hadn't started at all. I like scale figures and would prefer to exclusively stick to them. >.<

Has anyone tried something like that yet?
I have seen a documentation on Akihabara and they had a shop there, that would 3D scan your head, print it out with a 3D printer and place it onto a figure, so it's not a pipe dream.

It did include photorealistic coloring of the material itself, so no paint needed.

Ebay prices aren't realistic. It's serious price gouging and much of it does not sell at the set prices, save when people who don't know better stumble across it and think there are no other options. Most collectors will buy through Japanese stores like Mandarake or use proxies to hunt figures down, which rarely costs even half ebay listed prices.

I was disappointed by this, I ordered Yune and Erio together expecting them this month but instead Yune is delayed until March, which is a month I have six scale figures in, so with exchange and shipping it's going to cost quite a lot.

Payday had come, so I could pay for my Saitou Hajime, Branwen (closet Queen's Blade fan here) and Byakuren!

Sold out! All the motherfucking three of them! I expect them for next Wednesday.

PS: I pre-ordered DAT PATCHOULI. The other ones were a little too much on the moé side. This one have the just right deadpan facial expression. And I can rub it over PhoenixFlare's face.

I think I may have found the holy grail of my collection as a huge fan of a certain character:

Once it got colored and finished, Sayaka-chan's 1/8 scale prototype turned out so beautiful.

I pre-ordered her 2 days ago, the moment I learned she was up for pre-order.

Shame on me for not knowing this sooner, though.

I took a short break from checking Mika-tan's blog and that's the moment when she was announced! Sayaka shall be released by the end of June, and so begins the long half-year (including shipping time for me) wait. God forbid any delays and postponements...

I'm still undecided if I want Madoka, Mami and Sayaka. They are all undoubtedly gorgeous figures, but I just didn't like the characters. I ordered Homura, and will likely get Kyouko once she's available for order, but I'm torn as to whether I should collect the entire set or not. It would be nice to have all five on a shelf together just from an aesthetic point of view, all the different poses and colours. But they also cost a chunk, for characters I don't really like much...
