Being a psych major and all, my theory is that they know that NanoFate isn't really canon, but they go to great lengths to convince themselves otherwise. So when arguments against NanoFate arise, they have to devalue the statements by writing them off as 'trolling' to remove the possibility of being swayed by them. Basically, insecure people lashing out when something threatens their ideal.



It's hard for me to ignore, though. I mean, if I just sit back and take it, people will take that as a sign that everything being said is true. More than that, I'm too much of a sensitive wuss, I guess. I tear up at things like the ending of Gunbuster. Also, events like this actually make me feel physically ill, so...

Plus, when they start attempting to get ahold of my personal information and try to get me arrested, I don't think I should just turn a blind eye to that...



Errors in the usual place.

Good chapter. I enjoyed hearing about Fate, Vivio, and Yuuno's lives together. I still think Fate remains attached to that time. I mean, why else would she keep his last name?

Well done fight scene and it included enough novel moves to really show that they are much different from before. Now we have to wait and see if it was a double K.O. or not.



Actually, /m/ was actually really good about the whole thing before. I've been going there for years and there have been several Nanoha threads where the shipping discussions have been peaceful. Heck, a few were flat out pro-het and pro-Yuuno. So really for that board what happened over the past few days is a freak occurence. Here's hoping it stays as an isolated incident.

Anyways, I have something of my own to post now. This is a follow up to my previous Lutecia/Erio short. Megane, Fate, and Nanoha sitting down for a chat. More Fate teasing ensues.

Naturally there are those who will hate it and be pissed off by it, but oh well.

“Oh Fate your reaction was adorable!” Megane laughed.

“… It’s not that funny…” Fate muttered.

“Believe me Fate-chan,” Nanoha also giggled. “It was.”

“Geez…” Fate puffed. “Megane, you should be more concerned about this!”

“Concerned about what?” Megane smirked.

“About… well… you know…” Fate flushed. “Erio and Lutecia…”

“No, I don’t know. Please tell me what you mean.”

“Stop teasing me!” Fate sulked.

“I can’t help it, it’s so much fun.” Megane said. “But if you’re like this, how ever did you explain the facts of life to Erio and Caro?”

“… I asked Lindy-kaa-san to tell them.” Fate answered. “She explained it the same way she explained it to me.”

“With the donut and the banana?” Nanoha grinned.

“Yeah…” Fate grew redder. “A-Anyways, it’s nice that Erio and Lutecia are together, and it’s okay that they’re interested in being… intimate… but it’s just too soon!”

“I don’t know about that.” Megane shrugged. “I was pretty active in my teen years.”

“Really?” Nanoha asked. “If Lutecia’s fourteen then…”

“Just how old do you think I am?” Megane chuckled. “Anyways, these days you’re considered an oddity if you aren’t sexually active when you’re young.”

“But there’s nothing wrong with that!” Fate insisted, getting the other two women to stare at her.

“… Fate, are you still a virgin? At your age?” Megane gasped mockingly.

“I-I am. Something wrong with that?” The blond muttered.

“I see.” Megane sighed. “Who’d have thought our adult-like Fate-san is such a late bloomer?”

“What are you talking about, Fate-chan?” Nanoha blinked. “You and I fool around all the time.”

“Aaaah.”

“Nanoha! Don’t tell her that!”

“Oh please, it’s not that surprising.” Megane waved it off. “When our men were away, Quint and I often kept each other company. So you do have experience, Fate.”

“But that’s different…” Fate insisted. “I’m still…”

“No toys?” Megane turned to Nanoha.

“Fate-chan doesn’t like toys. They make her uncomfortable.” Nanoha shrugged. “So she’s never experienced anything bigger than a few fingers.”

“Toys pale in comparison to the real thing anyways.” Megane said. “You’re really missing out.”

“I-It’s really not such a big deal!” Fate flushed and turned to the brunette for support. “Right, Nanoha?”

“Hm?” Nanoha arched an eyebrow. “Sorry Fate-chan but I agree with Megane-san on this one. You don’t know what you’re missing.”

“But…” Something clicked. “Wait, Nanoha you… who? When?”

“Oh, I never told you?” Nanoha smiled apologetically. “It was when I was a teenager and in that whole curious/experimental stage.”

“So you just did it with some random guy?” Fate gasped.

“No, no, of course I wanted it to do it with some one I trusted.” Nanoha laughed. “Yuuno-kun treated me very well. Even now we’ll hook up from time to time.”

“I-I had no idea you and him were involved…” Fate muttered towards her lap.

“Hm? We’re not going out or anything if that’s what you’re thinking.” Nanoha patted her friend’s shoulder. “You know I’m not too interested in romance. He knows that too, so it’s just a physical thing with no strings attached. Nothing feels better after a stressful day you know.”

“Amen to that sister.” Megane purred.

“I just had a great idea!” Nanoha clapped her hands together. “Why don’t you join us next time, Fate-chan? I’m sure Yuuno-kun would love that! He fantasizes about you all the time, you know.”

“Bwah?” Fate sputtered.

“Yeah, you’d definitely love it too!” Nanoha continued. “He’s very amazing in various aspects. The things he can do to you… You’ll lose your mind!”

“My, it sounds like I’ll need to get a piece of that myself.” Megane sighed. “It’s been so long since I’ve been with a man… Despite my best efforts, our cute postman is too faithful to his girlfriend and just won’t bite. If Lutecia hadn’t snatched up Erio I might have tried my hand there too. Oh well.”

“I didn’t think you were such a cougar, Megane-san.” Nanoha giggled.

“Puma.” Megane grinned.

“In that case, you can join us too!” Nanoha flourished her hands. “Me, you, Fate-chan, and Yuuno-kun, we’ll have a great time!”

“Will the poor boy be able to survive?” Megane laughed.

“Oh he’ll be fine. His stamina is incredible. Fate-chan, since it’ll be your first time I’ll make sure he goes easy on you!”

At this point Fate’s face was pure crimson, her eyes were swirls and her head bopped from side to side. She shot to her feet and almost tumbled over but she managed to stay upright.

“I can’t believe you two!” Fate cried as she dashed out of the room.

Silence hung for a moment before the remaining women burst out laughing.

“The look on her face was just priceless!”

“Fate-chan is just so easy to tease.”

“I can’t believe she believed everything we said, too.”

“She’s so innocent like that.” Nanoha yawned followed by a stretch. “That was fun, but now it’s time for bed… I hope she lets me into the room.”

“If she doesn’t, come on over to my room…” Megane said with a wink. Nanoha laughed.

“I’ll keep that in mind.”

Yeah, I really had a nice laugh outta the whole situation. Cougar!Megane sounds really delicious... so much that I gotta get it as a possible joke for future Material Days stuff.

As for the fighting game thing, don't worry about it. At least you managed to take a decent chunk of wins when we played Gundam 00 thanks to Stupid Sexy Lockon.

It was a tense stand-off, or rather, it would have been tense if a redheaded woman with mis-matching eyes holding off a blond-haired, red-eyed girl with an axe and a redheaded wolf girl with one hand wasn't so preposterous that it bordered on hilarious.

"Now, are we going to be a good little girl and calm down and talk, or am I going to have to teach you a lesson about fighting your betters?" Lina Takamachi grinned at Fate, who flew backwards, a magic circle appeared under her as she charged up several magic attacks.

"Mother!" Nanoha called out as Lina let go of Arf before kicking her away.

"Nanoha, be a dear and keep that mutt out of this." Lina turned away from them as she focused on Fate. "Well then, how about we have a nice little... Bomb Di Wind!"

Fate's eyes widened as a MASSIVE hurricane force wind crashed into her body with enough force to send her flying, literally, hundreds of feet away, even with her barrier up, she couldn't keep herself from being blown back from the force.

Lina sighed. She didn't need to use the names for the attacks anymore, not since that fight all those years ago. 'Lady, are you really so fickle?' She twitched as her left eye throbbed softly. 'I guess you are.'

"Fate!" Arf yelled from her position under pink and green binds. "Let me go!" Arf growled at Yuuno and Nanoha, both of whom where rather stunned from that one attack.

"Stop your worrying." Lina rolled her eyes at the wolf girl. "She'll be fine, maybe a little shaken up and she might need a change of underwear, but she's just fine." Lina then tapped her chin in thought. "Well, unless she crashes through a few trees, ends up tangled in vines and finally crashes into a bee hive."

"Uh..."

"What?" Lina looked at the three children looking at her as if she was crazy. "Have you never had to deal with bee stings when those guys are pissed?" She shuddered at the memories. "Not as bad as the time my sister left me out in the rain covered in slugs, but still pretty bad." She jumped away as several lightning strikes hit where she had been moments before. "Huh, looks like she recovered pretty fast." Lina looked up to see a panting Fate looking down at her. Shaking her head, Lina wondered if it was in her blood to have her family attacked by people who were crazy.

Fate wasn't surprised as the woman flew up to look her in the eyes. "I won't let..."

"Let what? Let me get away with attacking you? Let me interfere with you attacking my daughter?" Lina raised an eyebrow as a sphere of fire appeared in the palm of her hand. "Or let me win?"

Fate flew back as the fireball was tossed at her at high speed. She blinked as the woman smirked at her before looking up and gasping as the fireball twist and turn in mid air before coming back down at her. Throwing her shield up, she grunted as it crashed with impressive force, the explosion, heat and power that happened from that was just as impressive. Miraculously, her barrier held and left her winded from the effort. "I...Impossible."

"I suggest that you stop." She turned to look at the woman, who was holding two more spheres of deadly fire in her hands. "If I was sixteen, you'd have a very good chance, heck, you might be able to beat me with some luck, but," Lina disappeared and reappeared in front of Fate, her knife at the blond girl's neck, "I've gotten more experience since then, and due to certain events, kiddo, there's not much you can do."

Fate gulped slightly, before blinking as the woman smiled at her and put her dagger away. "...What?"

"What's going to happen is that we're going to set down, go back to the hotel where we're staying and talk about everything."

Something about the way her eyes glinted and the grin on her face had Fate nodding in haste as the two of them floated to the ground.

"FATE!" Arf yelled as the binds were released. She ran to the little blond and hugged her before glaring at Lina. "You..."

"Shut up." Lina scoffed at the familiar. "Nanoha, honey..."

"Yes?"

Lina smiled at her and the ferret. "I hope you two learned something from that, I'm going to train the hell out of you in magic after this."

The way they gulped was music to her ears.

I feel sorry for almost everyone here, in a...good kind of wa. Sort of like "ha ha you're gonna go to hell and back - twice - but be better of for it in the long run." It's a weird feeling really.

I laughed as I was reading that though, both chapter were so full of craziness as to be ludicrusly good. I do wonder however What will the environmentalists say?

“Oh Fate your reaction was adorable!” Megane laughed.

“… It’s not that funny…” Fate muttered.

“Believe me Fate-chan,” Nanoha also giggled. “It was.”

“Geez…” Fate puffed. “Megane, you should be more concerned about this!”

“Concerned about what?” Megane smirked.

“About… well… you know…” Fate flushed. “Erio and Lutecia…”

“No, I don’t know. Please tell me what you mean.”

“Stop teasing me!” Fate sulked.

“I can’t help it, it’s so much fun.” Megane said. “But if you’re like this, how ever did you explain the facts of life to Erio and Caro?”

“… I asked Lindy-kaa-san to tell them.” Fate answered. “She explained it the same way she explained it to me.”

“With the donut and the banana?” Nanoha grinned.

“Yeah…” Fate grew redder. “A-Anyways, it’s nice that Erio and Lutecia are together, and it’s okay that they’re interested in being… intimate… but it’s just too soon!”

“I don’t know about that.” Megane shrugged. “I was pretty active in my teen years.”

“Really?” Nanoha asked. “If Lutecia’s fourteen then…”

“Just how old do you think I am?” Megane chuckled. “Anyways, these days you’re considered an oddity if you aren’t sexually active when you’re young.”

“But there’s nothing wrong with that!” Fate insisted, getting the other two women to stare at her.

“… Fate, are you still a virgin? At your age?” Megane gasped mockingly.

“I-I am. Something wrong with that?” The blond muttered.

“I see.” Megane sighed. “Who’d have thought our adult-like Fate-san is such a late bloomer?”

“What are you talking about, Fate-chan?” Nanoha blinked. “You and I fool around all the time.”

“Aaaah.”

“Nanoha! Don’t tell her that!”

“Oh please, it’s not that surprising.” Megane waved it off. “When our men were away, Quint and I often kept each other company. So you do have experience, Fate.”

“But that’s different…” Fate insisted. “I’m still…”

“No toys?” Megane turned to Nanoha.

“Fate-chan doesn’t like toys. They make her uncomfortable.” Nanoha shrugged. “So she’s never experienced anything bigger than a few fingers.”

“Toys pale in comparison to the real thing anyways.” Megane said. “You’re really missing out.”

“I-It’s really not such a big deal!” Fate flushed and turned to the brunette for support. “Right, Nanoha?”

“Hm?” Nanoha arched an eyebrow. “Sorry Fate-chan but I agree with Megane-san on this one. You don’t know what you’re missing.”

“But…” Something clicked. “Wait, Nanoha you… who? When?”

“Oh, I never told you?” Nanoha smiled apologetically. “It was when I was a teenager and in that whole curious/experimental stage.”

“So you just did it with some random guy?” Fate gasped.

“No, no, of course I wanted it to do it with some one I trusted.” Nanoha laughed. “Yuuno-kun treated me very well. Even now we’ll hook up from time to time.”

“I-I had no idea you and him were involved…” Fate muttered towards her lap.

“Hm? We’re not going out or anything if that’s what you’re thinking.” Nanoha patted her friend’s shoulder. “You know I’m not too interested in romance. He knows that too, so it’s just a physical thing with no strings attached. Nothing feels better after a stressful day you know.”

“Amen to that sister.” Megane purred.

“I just had a great idea!” Nanoha clapped her hands together. “Why don’t you join us next time, Fate-chan? I’m sure Yuuno-kun would love that! He fantasizes about you all the time, you know.”

“Bwah?” Fate sputtered.

“Yeah, you’d definitely love it too!” Nanoha continued. “He’s very amazing in various aspects. The things he can do to you… You’ll lose your mind!”

“My, it sounds like I’ll need to get a piece of that myself.” Megane sighed. “It’s been so long since I’ve been with a man… Despite my best efforts, our cute postman is too faithful to his girlfriend and just won’t bite. If Lutecia hadn’t snatched up Erio I might have tried my hand there too. Oh well.”

“I didn’t think you were such a cougar, Megane-san.” Nanoha giggled.

“Puma.” Megane grinned.

“In that case, you can join us too!” Nanoha flourished her hands. “Me, you, Fate-chan, and Yuuno-kun, we’ll have a great time!”

“Will the poor boy be able to survive?” Megane laughed.

“Oh he’ll be fine. His stamina is incredible. Fate-chan, since it’ll be your first time I’ll make sure he goes easy on you!”

At this point Fate’s face was pure crimson, her eyes were swirls and her head bopped from side to side. She shot to her feet and almost tumbled over but she managed to stay upright.

“I can’t believe you two!” Fate cried as she dashed out of the room.

Silence hung for a moment before the remaining women burst out laughing.

“The look on her face was just priceless!”

“Fate-chan is just so easy to tease.”

“I can’t believe she believed everything we said, too.”

“She’s so innocent like that.” Nanoha yawned followed by a stretch. “That was fun, but now it’s time for bed… I hope she lets me into the room.”

“If she doesn’t, come on over to my room…” Megane said with a wink. Nanoha laughed.

“I’ll keep that in mind.”

Speaking as a 'NanoFatefag' myself, I just happen to think they have more chemistry than she and Yuuno have...which is largely due to the writers slowly pushing him out of the spotlight the instant Fate showed up, so I can't really get upset when people see otherwise.

This room has no exits. It has no entrances. There are no windows in this room. It is a cube that simply exist. What is outside, is unknown. Only what is inside, is known.

In one corner there is a monitor. It only shows static and emits white noise. In another corner there is a lone rocking chair. In the third corner, there is a picture of a young girl and her mother. In the fourth corner, is a sleeping girl.

The room is lit by a single fluorescent lamp dangling from two thin wires attached to the roof. Now and then the light flicks on and off, but it comes back before it blacks out completely. The only other light source is the monitor.

The girl begins to wake up. Her hair is tussled and a big part of her clothes are in shreds. She puts a hand to her forehead and moans. Headache clouds her mind and she blinks in confusion.

“... What happened...?”

She looks at the monitor, then the chair and then the picture. She moves her eyes back to the monitor and gets up to her feet. Her legs are shaky, but she doesn’t fall. She’s strong. Both in body and mind.

She approach the monitor. Its white noise gets louder the closer she gets. There are no buttons on it. There are no remote. It doesn’t even have a cable at the back of it. It is simply a monitor that exists in time and space without dependence.

She stares at it for a long time. The static on the screen makes her headache worse. She can’t look at it much longer. She puts a hand on the monitor and her sense of touch is greeted by the familiar screen all monitors have. Except it’s cold as ice. There is no warmth.

She pulls her hand back, almost as if she was scared. But she isn’t. Just careful. Calculating.

She lets the monitor be and walks up to the picture. The girl and the mother stares back at her with sad eyes. The girl is wearing a cute, white dress. Her golden hair is tied up with a small ponytail. Her mother wears a maid uniform and her black hair is cut short.

The girl that has just awakened can’t help but feel a strange connection to the two. She has seen them before. She has spoken to them before. But where and when she doesn’t know. Or rather, she can’t remember.

Her memories are a heavy fog. She can’t remember how she has ended up in this room. She can’t remember what she did yesterday. She can’t recall who she last spoke to. She can’t-

A sudden noise behind her makes her freeze. There is no one else in this room. Not since the last time she checked, ten seconds ago. There are no entrances. There are no exits.

She slowly turns around. The only thing that is moving is the rocking chair. It rocks, back and forth, its wooden structure squeaking. Slowly it comes to a stand-still and goes quiet.

The girl walks over to it. She touches the armrest. Cold as ice. Just as the monitor.

The light abruptly turns off. Total darkness. It makes her freeze again. One second it lasts before the light returns. The room is back to normal.

“Is anyone there?”, the girl calls out. She’s frustrated and angry. She’s hungry. She's thirsty. The headache won’t go away. But she’s still not scared.

She looks at the picture again with her back to the rocking chair. Ice flows down her spine. The girl in the picture is gone. The mother remains, but now has dark tears flowing down her cheeks. It doesn’t look like it’s part of the picture. The tears are moving.

She goes up to it and smothers it with a finger. Moist. She puts it on her tongue. Blood.

The light turns off again. Then on. Then off. Then on. It remains on, but flickers, throwing strange shadows on the walls. They almost seem to move. Now the girl feel the first hint of fear. She isn’t alone in this enclosed room.

“Who are you?”

The rocking chair makes a noise behind her and she turns around. It rocks back and forth, but nothing is sitting on it. That’s when she notice the monitor isn’t showing any static. It now shows the room she is in.

She approaches it and stares at it. It shows her in real-time, in black and white. She can also see the picture and the rocking chair. The camera is in the corner where she woke up. She tosses a glance behind her shoulder.

There isn’t a camera in that corner. She returns her stare to the monitor.

The light turns off again. The monitor turns off. Total darkness, again. It lasts for five seconds. Then it comes on again. The monitor turns on. She sees herself again. She also sees a little girl standing behind her on the monitor.

She shrieks and twists her body around. There is nothing there. She breathes heavily and feels sweat flooding down her back. She turns to the monitor. Nothing except her in the room.

She rubs her eyes and blinks. It must be drugs. Hallucinogens. That must be it, she decides.

The light turns off again. Then it comes on, flickering. The little girl is behind her again. She stands up straight, refusing to turn around. It’s an hallucination. She sees the girl approach her, reaching out a hand.

The little girl’s hand is getting closer. She can’t hear any noise of footsteps. An hallucination.

She observes as the girl moves in to touch her arm. At the moment the girl’s hand touches her arm on the monitor, she feels something cold on her arm.

She screams and kicks out behind her. She looks around to frantically find the little girl.

“Come on out! Don’t hide from me!”

The light flickers and dies. The monitor dies. She hears soft breathing to her left. It brushes against her cheeks. She turns to it and reaches out with her hand. She feels something cold just as the light comes back. The coldness disappears.

She shakes her head and mumbles something. Insanity beckons in the back of her mind. Hallucinations. Must be. But it isn’t.

Her reality becomes warped. Now she sees a door that wasn’t there before. She laughs at herself. How silly, it was there all the time. She walks up to it and rattles the handle. The door opens, but stops. She notices a chain that holds it in place.

She grabs a hold of it and pulls. It refuses. It won’t even budge. No matter how hard she pulls, it won’t come loose.

She gives up and shouts out into the darkness on the other side; “Help! I’m locked in! Someone!”

Something rasps against the door. She draws a quick breath and holds it in. It goes quiet again.

“... Hello?” she whispers, uncertain.

A person appears in the gap. It’s a little girl. Her golden hair covers her face as she looks down in the floor.

“Hey, you! Help me out of here, yeah? Please!”

The little girl stand silent. Then she looks up, revealing her empty, bloody eye sockets and a beastly, huge grin her face. The girl in the room recoils and the light flickers off again. When it comes back on, the little girl is gone.

The girl has had enough. She crawls to the empty corner from where she had awakened. She rests her back against the wall and pulls her knees close to her chest and wraps her arms around them. She wags back and forth, mumbling.

While she sits there, the cold closes in again. It’s laughing. The girl knows now. Just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it isn’t there. There could be something right behind you, at any time.

“Subaru! Subaru!”

“Agh!” Subaru pants as she flies out of her bed and stares at Tea. Her back is covered in sweat.

“You had a nightmare. You were screaming and trashing about. You woke me up, idiot.”

“Oh... Sorry, Tea.”

Tea sighs and shrugs. “Well, maybe it’s for the best. It’s early morning anyway. I’ll go down and get some breakfast. Are you coming or are you gonna sleep in?”

“I’ll be right there,” Subaru says and gets up from the bed.

“All right. See you downstairs,” Tea says and leaves the room. She closes the door behind her.

Subaru starts to get dressed. She puts on the training uniform as she plans to do a run after breakfast. As she pulls a sweater over her head, she hears the door opening again.

“Tea, did you forget something...” she starts to say and trails off when she sees who it is.

The little girl with golden hair and no eyes stand there. Grinning.

Not much to say really. I had a brief idea about a dimensional room with an invisible horror inside it. It spawned from there.

Basically, it's a nightmare transcending the paranormal, as dreams often do. I planned to make a backstory for the child and mother, connecting them to Subaru in an earlier failed rescue mission, but I felt like it added too much, so I leave a lot to the reader.

And the ending, well... Who knows. Is she still dreaming? Or did the little girl break dimensions to come and haunt Subaru, as the little child she couldn't save?

Either way it's scary, I mean it blurs the line between that which is real and that which is illusionary so well it's impossible to tell which is which, did she really dream it, was it all real, did the room have a door at first, is there any way out of ones own mind.

I now have a strong urge to write a horror story for my creative writing class about children without any eyes haunting the dreams of those they find in the mortal realm. Thanks i was looking for an idea.

Shiro looked up as he saw his wife, his daughter, the ferret, a blond girl and a redheaded young woman all walk into the room. "Welcome back, Lina, Nanoha, Yuuno. And who are these two lovely ladies?"

Despite the weirdness of the situation, Nanoha giggled as both Fate and Arf spluttered at the question.

"Meet Fate Testarossa and her familiar Arf. Why are you still up, dear?" Lina sighed as he shrugged at her question.

"Hard to sleep when two of the three most important women in my life aren't nearby. Now..." Shiro smiled as he placed several cups of warm tea around the table. "Why don't we sit down and enjoy some tea?"

After the small group sat around the table, though Lina made sure to sit near Fate and Arf, everything descended into quiet for a bit, before Lina cleared her throat. "One thing that's been bothering me... Yuuno..."

"Yes?" The ferret blinked at her as she smiled at him.

"You're not a Mazoku are you?"

"A... What?" Yuuno blinked as Lina sighed softly.

"Never mind." She shook her head and looked at Fate, who was looking down at her lap quietly. "Now, Fate, tell me just why you and my daughter are fighting."

Fate looked at her surprised. "Hasn't she told you?"

Lina took a sip of her tea before answering that. "Well, I guess it's over these magical trinkets that are floating around, but I'd like to hear your side of things." Lina had lost count over how many fights had happened simply because both sides didn't have all information on hand. Lina knew, however, that there was always a time and place to with-hold information from people. A small fight between two magic users wasn't one of those times.

Fate looked down and sighed softly, how could she just tell them everything? They wouldn't understand, she needed them. As soon as she got them for her mother, everything would be perfect, she'd stop being mad all the time, she'd go back to the way things were.

"Alright, if you don't want to talk, then I guess I'll have to make some guesses here." Lina cleared her throat for a moment. "Feel free to tell me if I'm right or wrong here. You, Fate Testarossa, are gathering the Jewel Seeds, not for yourself, but for someone else. Why? You don't know, you were never told, you just know that they're important and are doing it for that person, likely someone you look up to and adore, likely a family member that's close to you. However, recently, things have changed and something bad happened, even so, you're still trying your hardest to set things right with this person. Since I'm not feeling any anger from you, I'm guessing that you still care a lot for them." Lina let out a breath she didn't know she had. "Well? Am I right?"

"...How..?" Fate asked softly, her eyes wide as she looked at the woman, who fell over in shock.

"Wagh! I was just joking! I never expected to be right!" She sighed and shook her head. "Really, I was just comparing your situation to the situation of an old friend of mine. His grandfather, or was it great-grandfather?" She shrugged, it wasn't important. "Did something pretty bad to him, mutating his body into something far different than it was before. However, even so, the guy still loved his grandfather. It wasn't until he found out that it was an experiment for his grandfather to regain the usage of his eyes that my friend got upset. Heck, before that, he had gone so far as to track down a powerful magical artifact for his grandfather before turning on him." Lina stopped for a moment. "Then again, it's been a long time, my memories of it are a little fuzzy." She giggled and stuck her tongue out.

"...Now I see where you get your silliness from, Nanoha." Yuuno spoke to Nanoha telepathically as he sweat-dropped.

"Anyway..." Shiro spoke up, catching Fate and Arf's attention. "I can imagine that while you want these..."

"Jewel Seeds, dad." Nanoha supplied for him, causing him to smile at her.

"Jewel Seeds, I can imagine that they aren't safe. After all, if you're willing to hurt Nanoha for them, they must be of some value." Seeing the blond fidget slightly, he shook his head. "Are you worried that we'll punish you?"

Fate flinched slightly, it was barely noticeable, Nanoha and Yuuno didn't catch it, Arf almost missed it, but to Shiro and Lina, both of whom had a lifetime of reading body language, that said a lot.

"We won't harm you, Miss Testarossa." Shiro smiled at her softly. "My wife here has stated that if you want to fight Nanoha for these things, that's fine, but..." He looked at Lina, who shook her head and chuckled slightly.

"As far as I can tell, these things are pretty dangerous, right?" Seeing Yuuno nod, she smirked at the children. "Well then, from now on, the two of you are forbidden to fight." Seeing the stunned looks on all of the children's faces, Lina leaned back against her chair slightly. "Let me explain something to you children. These things are dangerous, you want them badly, that's fine, but if they're as unstable as I've been feeling then I don't want you fighting over them until they're all sealed up." She then smirked in a way that had Fate and Nanoha flinching for some unknown reason. "After all, I'd rather not wake up one morning and find out that something like a Dragon Slave went off in the middle of the city, reducing it to rubble and killing millions of people who were asleep."

"A... What?"

Lina sighed as she saw the looks of confusion on the children's faces. "Dragon Slave, you know, strong as a tactical nuclear weapon?" Seeing the blank, though slightly fearful, looks on their faces had Lina groaning slightly. "It was easier when I was a kid. Just throw a Dragon Slave at a mountain and turn it to rubble and prove a point. Why'd I have to grow up, get married and have a kid like this?" She looked at Shiro, before sighing and smiling. "Oh yeah, I fell in love, that's why."

Fate wasn't sure what to think about this woman, she seemed unstable at times, but at other times, she seemed really dangerous, and still for all of that, she seemed to have a great amount of love for her family. 'Why?' She asked herself, her chest hurting as she looked at them. Why couldn't she have this with her mother? That's all she wanted. Was it so wrong?

"Well, I think we've all been up long enough." Lina changed the subject, getting a blink from everyone. "Nanoha, you and Yuuno better get back into that room and get some sleep."

"But..."

"Go, Nanoha." Lina smiled at her. "I promise, nothing bad will happen, okay?"

"Um, okay..." Nanoha got up from the table and quietly made her way into the room and closed the door behind her.

"As for you, Fate..." Lina narrowed her eyes at the blond girl, who gulped slightly. "Do you want to stay for breakfast in the morning?" She finished with a large grin, causing Fate to balk slightly and Arf to face-fault loudly. "Doesn't that hurt?"

"But, I, um..."

Lina sighed at the girl's stuttering. "Look, Fate, I don't really care why you're fighting Nanoha for these things. But I would rather the two of you stopped fighting each other for them until they're all sealed away." She then smiled at her gently, getting a blush from the girl. "Besides, you don't seem like a bad girl to me." Hell, the more Lina spent around Fate, the more she was reminded of Zelgadis for some odd reason. "Listen, Fate, Arf, if you two need help in the future, don't be afraid to ask me for some help." She then winked at them. "Just don't ask for help fighting Nanoha, okay?"

"Um..." She nodded slightly at the older woman, unsure as to what to say.

"Good!" Lina grinned at her. "So, tonight, you and Arf are going to sleep here, eat breakfast and then you can go back to where you live."

"But..."

"What kind of person would I be if I didn't put you two up for the night?" Getting flustered as Lina pushed Fate to her room, the small blond wondered what happened as she found herself quickly stripped and changed into a large shirt, well, large for her body at any rate.

"Um..."

Lina shook her head. "I don't doubt you have a place that you can stay, Fate." She smiled as she unrolled a sleeping bag for the blond as Shiro and Arf walked into the room. Arf was both confused and amused by what she was seeing. "But if there's one thing I know, it's that a good night's sleep and some food really makes everything better in the morning."

Fate tried to resist, to complain about how she was being treated, but for some reason, it was pretty hard. It got even harder when Fate when Lina grinned like a cat at her. 'Linith...' She thought to herself as she was put into the sleeping bag.

"Now then..." Lina smirked as she saw Arf, in her wolf form, lay down next to Fate. "If I wake up and see you two gone in the morning, I'll go out and hunt you two down the next time a Jewel Seed activates." After Shiro crawled into bed with her, she turned off the lights. "Sleep well."

"But... I never said that I would stay the night..." Fate said softly, but was ignored by Lina and Shiro. Even Arf couldn't say much to it.

Still, for some reason, Fate found herself falling asleep shortly after the lights went out.
