For those who doesn't know, A-1 Pictures collaborates with Toho for the first time in a TV anime series and it is also Overlap Bunko's first title to be chosen in an animated adaptation. I'll take a look for this one.

Well that was interesting. The action took off right from the start with an appealing OST. Furthermore, the artwork is refreshing or at least feels different. There's some bits of fan service but it's not really distracting, at least not compared to some shows imo.

A few weird body movements aside, I think the quality was pretty good.

They introduced more characters than I had expected but it's a nice setup so far for the remainder course of the season. The premise of the fantasy world and guilds is also interesting enough. That Barbara girl is quite fiesty.

I really enjoyed the first episode; the artistic direction is a definite change over almost all other "fantasty" genre shows over the past few seasons. The watercolor style makes it appear even more fantastical rather than something we can easily relate to and allows you to focus more on the characters in it, rather than the world around them. Admittedly, we don't have much yet in terms of personalities to invest ourselves in. We can get some general social dynamics of the group, but not much in individuals.

This may be part of the charm for me too. We're watching a team, and a group of friends, come together rather than being dropped in the middle of their relationship. We don't see a team of attractive women naturally encircling themselves around a single guy. I don't see any super hidden powers, no one bringing their knowledge of the modern world into this primitive one. Most of all, we don't see any chuni Gary-Stu tropes. It does a good job of just setting my expectations, at least so far, in subverting much of what we've seen in the fantasy "another world" stories as of late.

I'd say that is a really good start for the show. There's really some weight and seriousness to the plight of the main cast here. I mean they get dumped into this world with absolutely nothing aside from their clothes. It's about as bleak a 'thrown into a fantasy world' scenario as I've seen done in anime. They don't even have any memories about their past. They can remember words and phrases, but not the meaning to them. Heck they don't even know what a game is.

Just people thrown into this world and now having to figure out what to do next. Given some bare minimum training and out in the world they go. The group that hogged all the strong people should be ok for now. But the rest? It's a group that currently can't win against 2 goblins, the weakest of the weak. How are they going to actually survive like this? Are they going to survive like this?

Pretty good so far. The cast feels pretty realistic all things considered. They are all just trying to adapt to this situation. But the clock is ticking. They won't survive if they can't win.

Interesting stuff, compared to SAO and other fantasy series this seems more serious business when even small enemies can be tricky to defeat, and also the whole deal about being short on money and basically survive and improve through hard work.

On technical aspects it looks pretty and sounds good. Character design is fantastic, especially the busty mage Shihoru.

Highly enjoyed the 1st episode despite Tarou making his grand return from Shirobako Found the art to be really nice as well, quite soothing. The pace was just right too

This was kinda above okay, which is good considering most of the first episodes I've watched this season are barely okay level.

The backgrounds are nice. The red haired girl is kawaii. The visuals in general are good enough.

It has a rather interesting world. They didn't tell us how these kids entered this world, which is good as it makes the world a bit mysterious – kinda like what Overlord did, not telling what exactly happened and letting the viewer come up with theories. The kids all have to make a living if they want to survive and they're doing that by being volunteer soldiers. And the group of MCs is a bunch of amateurs with only basic weapon handling training they got in a week or so. And they can't even defeat goblins who are supposed to be the weakest of monsters.

The world is a bit intriguing here. I'm curious to see what exactly happened. One thing's for sure that these kids are in a fantasy medieval sort of land and they came from a place in modern times, but they can't remember anything prior to their appearance in Grimgar. This had some interesting stuff and I'm gonna watch more of this.

2 girls and 4 guys in a team isn't a typical LN set up.
And all kinds of anime suffer from fanservice though.

Just finished watching Ep01. Quite nice, intriguing and artistically different from the norm, as it was mentioned here.
The mystery around the whole setting is killing me with the thirst for answers, so much that I went after a wikia or something to get some spoilers... Unfortunately (or rather fortunately), none found...

this anime got everything that could bring your wildest imagination to happen.... like a betrayal from your favorite character (please don't tell me that Yume is evil), a dispute in party that leads into deadly fight, attack from the other party, fallen into nastiest trap in dungeons, etc.

in other world, everyone got death flag since the very beginning

The game setting reminded me so much about Ragnarok Online and main character's party is totally balanced so far... They only need to grind their skill level
I just hope Yume become the main heroine instead of the wizard... well, because she is an interesting character
So far, the main character is also likable.. and I probably have a little complain against that noisy dark knight

let's stick around for now and prepare for the worst in the future episodes
