I get most of my news from the Colbert Report. Real news kind of bums me out.

my news comes from Japan Probe /sarcasm

I get all my news from the internet.

btw, people that like books with paper and ink. do you have a reason beyond the nostalgic feel of holding a real book? my iTouch fits in my pocket, with ebook software, replaces an entire shelf of books, if I was in an rpg and could fit a several novels in my shirt pocket, I would probably prefer that (since I too enjoy holding a physical book, but my iTouch is simply several times more convinient.

I don't trust the media. I'm not just saying that to sound "cool". I find that how people act to certain things have to do on how much the media decides to cover it. I know someone who experienced a reporter lie on live TV.

It was a toss-up between this thread or this other one about social media. But since the article is ultimately about the Internet's impact on the news industry, I thought it more properly belongs here.

Americans spend just a fraction of online time with news compared to social media

IN A report on social media published today, Nielsen breaks down how Americans spend their time on the Internet. The results are sobering for the online news industry: Americans spend 22.5 per cent of their Internet time on social networks and blogs, and just 2.6 per cent on current events and global news.

Among the online activities that occupy more time than news: online games, portals, videos/movies, instant messaging and classifieds/auctions. Sceptical readers may note that blogs could relate to news, and portals post news stories, so take that into account.
