That's all you really need to know. The Otogi principal is based on Aladdin, but that was only used for a gag at the start of the episode.

I really liked how they used "Little Red Riding Hood" and "Genie in the Lamp" and only granting 1 wish in the end of this episode.

Well this does explain more about Ringo, which we really did need since we were pretty clueless why she was like what she was. Her mother really did fill her with strange things that turned her into what she is now that I can see

This was a surprising episode to say, but narrator still somewhat annoys me (I'm hating to much... Its bad for one's health)

I thought it was going to be Majo to have a connection with Snow White because well, she is the 'Witch' right

Anyway certain parts definitely felt forced, but I guess that's better than beating around the bush. That said, it was a nice episode focusing on Ringo's past. As always everyone has their issues, thankfully it didn't get as ugly as they usually do in TV dramas

Ringo's really lucky.

P.S - Two of the little brats might be on to something, Alice x Liszt?!

Finally it cleared up why Ringo is named as such! Supposedly the King exiled Snow White into the woods at the behest of the evil queen, namely Ringo's mother. Ringo is suppose to kill Hime (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs), but instead, saved her life.

Then it comes to Aragaki being the genie of the lamp, given his ability to grant any wish at all with his money.

Ringo using her wish is actually another fairy tale (indirect reference) which is little known - the seven-coloured flower.

It goes like this : A cinderella-sque girl supposedly found a mythical seven-coloured flower which is able to grant a wish for each petal torn and thrown off. She wished for all the material goods (clothes, food, etc), and was at a loss at how to use her last petal/wish. She saw a lame boy begging in the streets and wished for him to be able to walk again. It happened.

There is a reason why the pool is named Mermaid Pool.

The Sleeping Beauty reference at the end with Ryoushi is brilliant though.

So...where the hell did those kids come from. Not mention of her mother re-marrying, nothing. And they would have to have been alive when she was kicked out of the house too.

Overall I have to say that this episode was a pretty good one. There were certainly some weak spots but the good parts more than made up for them. Ringo is a pretty interesting character so I don't mind that they showed us her background. The way the fairytale was handled was very quite clever and it was nice to see the explanation as to why she was named Ringo.

Spoiler for Episode 9:

I enjoyed how they used Ringo's dream to start off the episode since it reflected the entire episode. It was quite amusing to see Ryouko and Ryoshi babysit the seven "dwarves". I suppose I shouldn't be suprised over the fact that Ryoshi can be bullied into submission by a group of children. But what I really enjoyed here is how relaxed Ryouko was with Ryoshi compared to her attitude towards him during earlier episodes.

It was nice to see that Ringo just explained what had happened between her and Shirayuki without requiring to much prodding from the others. Ringo's stare when Ryoshi tried to explain when they just wanted to help her was hilarious. Ryoshi can only be so manly and helpful in one episode. I really enjoyed how they showed how Ringo was raised to become the manipulative, evil loli that we know and love by her mother who is even worse. I always suspected that there might be another reason as to why Ringo began to share a room with Ryouko so it was nice to see I was correct.

The pool part of the episode was probably the weakest part of the episode. I really liked the narrator when the group was standing outside the pool. Otohime and Alice certainly looked good in swimsuits but Ryouko was easily the cutest one there. She looks really good with her hair put up like that as well. The way the kids stopped that random guy flirting with Shirayuki was really funny and quite skillfully done. Ryoshi and Ryouko playing with the beach ball and him falling on top of Ryouko was both funny and sweet. Typical cheese romance scene but I enjoyed it nontheless. Taro and Otohime are always amusing and I do wonder how often Otohime has to...uhm..."extract various things" *cough* from Taro to keep him in gentleman mode. Probably too often even with her enthusiasm.

The drowning scene was felt forced even though it was nice to see Ryoshi go into manly mode and save Shirayuki. But at least they made the effort to explain that Shirayuki is bad at swimming earlier. I did however expect it to be part of some grand plan to get Ringo to reveal herself so I was a bit suprised to see that she was drowning for real. The talk between Ringo and Shirayuki was saccharine sweet and fully expected but it was nice to see anyway but I felt that it lacked a bit of emotional impact. Ringo's talk with Lamp was nice and I liked how she used her cuteness to get him to agree with her suggestion. I also liked how they used Lamp's genie background and I do hope that they will return to the granting favors later in the series. It would be nice to see Lamp using his power to crush Shiro in some way.

The best part of this episode has to be the scene after the ED. That dream was just pure awesome even though I really wish they just kept it going for two more seconds just to see the kiss. But Ryouko's reaction to the dream after waking up was just hilarious. She really tries to fight her feelings for Ryoshi who is doing a very good job at wearing down her defenses. But it's nice to see how things have changed since episode 1. I also assume that the events taking place in episode 7 had something to do with her little dream. Now all we need is Ryouko being a bit more honest with herself which we will see soon enough I suppose.

By naming Little Red Riding Hood Ringo, her intersection with Himeno was almost predestined. Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the fairest one of all? It's clear that Himeno does have quite a lot in life, but she persists, for her voice is that of the persisters - Yukari Fukui. A sweet episode, in both the plucking at heartstrings sense and the "everyone is in swimsuits" sense. Well, again. Though we finally saw Ryoko's even though she backed out in the Miss Otogi contest. Also, some amusing bookends in the dream sequences. Ranpu displaying his origin by being the genie of the lamp (you ain't never had a friend like him) and Ryoko doing her best audition for Disney Princess-dom. They can use Kyouka Kanejou's castle when she makes it to the final round. Next week's title intrigues me. A very long day could mean either a frantic, activity-filled episode or an intentionally meandering, slice of life one. Either way, should be fun to watch.

The entrance to the climax (that drowning scene) felt pretty exaggerated and forced. Himeno's voice always gets to me (in a way)... especially when her young version speaks in it. Her character wasn't that interesting and her character design not appealing, and I only roll my eyes over the fact her mother decided to get 7 more kids after being kicked out of the house. KROMEangel Baby Got Back Join Date: Jul 2010 Location: Earth	Spoiler for Ep 9: Snow White and the 7 Brats: It was okay; we get a behind-the-scenes look of Ringo's backstory, so that plothole's been filled; and I certainly won't complain about swimsuits either. >:3 A moderately heavy drama resolved with a simple happy ending. At the moment, Ringo storyline is secure, and now we can move on to the main plotline. At least, I hope they do. There are three episodes left, and the one type ending I hate most is when they start the climax in the second-to-last episodes end, and cram everything else into the last episode. If the next episode is not about Ryouko and Ryoushi, then consider me weary.
