I'm still sticking with the opinion that giving Yuuno the Gandalfr runes is going to make him insanely powerful given it's inherent ability to make him capable of using any weapon.
Magic can be a weapon. Talented librarian mage with a drive to research + mysterious runes that allow him to know how to use weapons + magic can be a weapon = hello the newest most powerful mage in all of Halkeginia. |

Abusive language can be a weapon too; a pyschological weapon that destroys the opponent's clarity or even their very will to fight. Yet I doubt the runes enhance just any form of offense; only those using physical weapons.
But if Derflinger tool the form of a shield (Captain America style) rather than a sword... But I really would like for Yuuno to be the Windalfr, for the information-gathering possibilities. I'm told that the specific Void familiars have had an impact upon the history of the five nations, but how? Saito seems to be the only Gandalfr the world has seen since Brimir; have there been various Windalfrs over the years, serving the Church? Even better than Windalfr would be the Mind of God. But speaking of magical items, if we were going to cross the Nanohaverse with the Zeroverse, wouldnt we exchange all of the Earth weapons for Devices? The staff of destruction might be a staff Device like Raising Heart. The business with the wind stones might be a Lost Logia gone awry. But even changing none of that, and even making Yuuno a Gandalfr, the story could be loads of fun. |

He knows his shit, and isn't a perv. Hell I'd CHEER for him if he makes the whole world swoon!
If anything he might be too much of a ruins otaku to notice them falling like flies. Reverse Nanoha Syndrome.

So how do we classify what the runes enhance? Anything designed with offensive purpose in mind? Because a good deal of magic falls under that. |

A sword and a fighter plane are both physical tools. Have the runes ever activated for something that wasn't a physical tool? Likewise, the super strength and speed are both physical.
It's the Mind of God runes that enhance mental/magical abilities like spell casting, right? Wasnt the puppet master able to cast Void magic with them? |

He's distinctly non-contact, yes. He hits you with point-blank bullets, chains and barriers, but never his own physical strength.
Here's a thought. What if Yuuno doesn't get summoned by Louise? Or even by a Void Mage? What if he's summoned by Guiche in place of the mole, because of his ferret form? Yuuno can easily fill all of the plot relevant roles that Verdandi did: namely, locating the Water Ruby. With scrying magic. |

I don't think that'd happen. Seems human(ish) familiars are only summoned on ZnT by Void mages.
But, would be interesting to see how things would turn out if he was summoned by Joseph and became Myozthirirn. How much would the plot change if he was forced to work as a madman's familiar?

Agree with Rising. Summoning human takes a LOT of power, thus only a Void mage can pulls it off. (I think)
Are there any countermeasures against a rogue Familiar? Or, he could leave clues for the good guy to sabotage the madman's plan. |

If you want to balance Gandalfr Yuuno you can make the runes only to work on attack spells because those are the only ones made with the intention of being weapons, so his mastery only comes with offensive spells, not defensive, flight, or anything else.
Gandalfr runes are very specific, even if a pointed stick have potential as a weapon Saito doesn't gain any advantages of it because it wasn't made to be a weapon. This was demonstrated when Agnes trained him in swordsmanship with wooden swords made for training and because of that his Gandalfr runes don't work with those. That's just an example of how selective his powers as a void familiar are xDU

Here's a thought: What if Yuuno Scrya ended up on Louise's world on his own, without being summoned by anyone?
Basically, revise the first season of the Nanoha series, but it's Louise who saves Yuuno, gets Raising Heart, and defeats the blob monster. This could happen before or after summoning Saito, with each option providing different paths. Introducing Yuuno to the dynamics changes things enough; there's another male around to act as a balance and foil to Saito in a way Guiche simply can't, giving him some well-deserved "what the Hell, man?!" chastisements. Hell, giving Saito and Guiche both those remarks. Yuuno is naturally going to dig up information on the Gandalfr and Brimir, in addition to teaching Louise how to apply her non-elemental magical talent through Raising Heart and the Mid-Childan system. Louise still has a valid reason to take Saito into town looking for a sword, whereupon they get Derflinger, and again, Yuuno is able to make them appreciate that find immediately. Heck, if Yuuno met Louise first, then he might react to Saito with the same jealousy he showed towards Chrono in the original series, regarding Nanoha. Since Louise would be replacing Nanoha as the first real friend he's ever made*. Saito's lechery and magnetic harem effect would only make this worse. And the whole time, Yuuno might be stuck hiding as a ferret, because it's bad enough that Louise and Saito know about the existence of extra-planetary mages, he's not about to compound his crimes by letting EVERYONE know. (At least, not at first.) This doesn't preclude him from making sporadic appearances around campus in human form, so long as he succeeds in pretending to be some student's visiting little cousin. * This is my personal canon, based on the few facts that are known about Yuuno's background. |

I ...like this idea xD!
No really, i like Zero no Tsukaima (at least up to Season 2, it becomes unbearable afterwards xDU) but Saito's behavior has been always one of my main complains (ok, Louise isn't a saint but Saito rightly deserves at least the 60% of the punishment he receives xDU). Yuuno is the kind of guy mature enough to keep distance yet kind enough to interfere if Saito becomes a douche. He even could be handy in helping Louise with her anger management issues xD
