I formatted my PC with windows XP.

After reinstall the basic stuff i decided to put the motherboard CD on the CD drive so i could install the drivers and all that.

However, the CD doesn't recognize my motherboard (im sure its the correct CD), so i had to manually install the drivers (without use the CD GUI, had to enter the folders and "open" them).

So, i made it recognize sounds and TCP/IP protocols.

Then i installed my Graphic card drivers, no problems there.

However, when i try to open an online game the graphics look completely wrong or i don't see many things (i tested the game before formatting and it worked perfectly).

The icons of some things look weird:

Thats from the "dowload" window in firefox.

I can watch videos on youtube, watch videos on my PC, surf the web normally.

No problems, just these 2 things.

What can be the problem?.

Have you tried the latest drivers for your graphics card (although with the setup CD not recognising the mobo itself I'd also suspect some form of impending hardware failure).

I would check if you have the right CD again. And also, try to find the latest drivers online instead of relying on the CD.

Go check if your video card has been set to either 24-bit or 32-bit color; dithering can happen at lower bit settings.

I wonder if you picked the correct driver files from the disc, because the wrong one will cause some degree of instability or glitches (such as the dithering).

Going further, I'd recommend that, if you dare, open up the box and peer to see what brand, model and make your motherboard is (printed on the PCB), and then find the official manufacturer's website where you can download the correct drivers based on your board's specifications.

Don't rely on CD. You should always have all drivers updated. Using old stuff is never good. And if you want to know what hardware you got I suggest getting PC wizard 2010.

I agree, sometimes the drivers on a CD are so old and outdated that they fail to function properly. When I put in my new video card and tried installing the drivers that came on the CD it made everything look horrible.
