Maybe I need to see more, but so far... I'm unimpressed, at least with the full trailer. Now, I don't follow the comics, so the trailer is my only exposure to GotG... and the thing that turned me off is that they chose to focus on Star-Lord, who IMO, comes off as a dumbass, and not even a funny/cool dumbass at that. All the other characters look awesome, though, so maybe I'll give it a shot

Starlord is... more than he appeared.

As Thaos himself said, Starlord may act like a fool, but he understands much more than he appeared to be. And it takes a lot to impress Thanos.

Star-Lord acts like a clown but it's because he a) never had to grow up due to being taken in by space pirates as a child and b) you can infer he cracks jokes and is silly to mask the tragedy of the character. Him being mad over the Walkman is also not a joke, there's a reason for that.

Technologically the local hardware store in Space has tech that would knock Tony Stark's socks off. Rocket Raccoon in the comics was able to near instantly repair Tony's damaged Ironman armour, and made the point that his armour is not impressive in the slightest on the galactic stage. Tony learns fast and eventually catches up, but that took time.

In the Galactic stage, we have entire species of people who have superpowers, and wide spread cybernetic enhancements. This is why even though Thor is impressively strong, his people do NOT rule the universe. Not even close.
Ah, k, that's interesting. Because last time I asked if this story happened at the same time as the Marvel movies and how/if this movie would tie into that I was told that Guardians happens in the far distant future - long after the Avengers.

Those people were probably thinking Marvel would take more inspiration from the original Guardians team in the comics, that was set in the 31st century.

A near perfect trailer. This is an entirely new enterprise for Marvel, so the 'usual suspects' conceit was a nice approach to identifying and establishing our new heroes (without need of giving away too much plot info). Beyond that, though, was the great pacing, wonderful effects, wonderful choice of song and action set to song. All in all, this was a complete success.

Actually I have to confess that when I heard the song I didn't think of Blue Swede but of The Hoff

My only problem is the look of the Nova corps, I loved everything else.

I haven't been looking forward to Guardians of the Galaxy, but I admit, the concept has started to grow on me.

Although mostly because people keep posting gifsets on tumblr of Chris Pratt being hilarious. It is a good trailer, though, I'm just bitter that we're getting Guardians of the Galaxy and worse, Ant-Man, before a Black Widow film.

I'm surprised, Gamora is actually facing the screen, rather than bending her spine in such an uncomfortable way to show both the front of her torso and her backside.

Poster I desperately want to see: Gamora holding a sword up above her head in a traditionally heroic pose, with Star Lord fearfully clinging to her in such a way that both his rear and his chest are pointed at the camera.

That actually impressed me quite a bit more than the first trailer... although I'm curious- is GotG sort of a side story to the Avengers?

I don't know if i'd describe it as a side story. But more akin to Cap Am, IM, Thor movies that its part of the Avengers-verse.
