Actually I get the feeling that 86 is tied first, just not fully sure of it yet.

Remake has been released with a wrapping stating that it's 6th for light novel, 4th for newcomer.

So at this point, we have 86, dendrogram and laika in the top 5 this year.

Yes Honzuki. Honzuki no Gekokujou.

In other news, Index is 12th this year apparently.

That's a lot of shilling for Ryuuoh, to the point of revising the system to weaken Index's influence in the rankings.

I wouldn't necessary say that it's all shilling for Ryuoh. Even in the HP (fan) voting, Index dropped from 1st to 10th in rankings.

In fact, if you want to mention shilling, special shoutout goes to 86.

I blame two things: (1) there's only one volume counted for Index, which is NT18, and (2) fanbase complacency—fans already had their victory with the sudden upsurge of publicity through Season III, the Virtual-On game, and the mobile MMO. It's possible that they let the newer works take the fame because "Index already won".

Also, I noticed that none of the other series had the same popularity (i.e., not talked about as much) as the older LN series.

The bolded ones are the one I read. I haven't read or heard of others lol

I wonder what the rankings are for the character rankings.

I assume the changes to the rankings is supposed to change the nature of the rankings from a popularity contest to a glorified must-read recommendations list. The presence of titles that haven't made a ripple compared to shows that have been blessed by mediamix is evident.

That said, I don't mind such a change, but are the newer works actually good?

Strange, if you have been checking dengeki site every month, you couldn't have missed 86.

Talking about the usual talk in Animesuki though.
Among the ones without an anime series that stood out for me were Infinite Dendrogram and Jaku-Chara Tomozaki-kun.

EDIT: And I blame Kunagisa for that.

Wait, this isn't Discord

Anyway, thus far, it looks like loli shogi characters are giving competition to Index girls this time.

Three cheers for variety and Index out of the overall Top 10 for the first time in 10 years! What a streak!

Index's ranking relies entirely on HP votes and last year it was lucky that Oregairu wasn't there to steal its votes. I'm very interested to see what the HP numbers are this year and if there was a different weighting method used. Index was first in HP votes last year and to see it drop to 10th is staggering. Normally I'd blame Oregairu but I don't see it ranked anywhere... Maybe Classroom took the votes?

Kono LN ga Sugoi! looks at novels released in the October to September period each year. Index had 2 novels during this time: one meh and one amazing. But this has actually been one of Index's best years story-wise.
