It's really a shame this is done by Pierrot. Sure, they sometimes put nice animation fights like the last episode but damn, using fillers to purposely slow down the narrative to milk the franchise this early on is just disgusting. This is 2018, no idea why these model choices are still done. Black Clover could be a fun old school battle shonen to watch without that horrible decision and of course, reducing Asta's tone a little bit would be nice too. He screams more than Goku during a power up

It's not unwatchable for me otherwise i would not be here, but this is clearly one of those cases that could be infinite times better regardless all the problems the manga might have. The same stuff is happening in Boruto too. Actually it's even worse there

when you think asta "power" is the most overpowered power in the world, in a world where "magic is almost everything" and almost full based on it, when you have the "power to cancel it" it's make you the strongest and dominator if asta keep growing he can really become the "mage king", by being able to defeat any other mage.

Hmm.... So I have to rethink this a bit.

Asta has no magic, so in essence, he's also not restricted to the laws of magic, which is restricted to one type of element. That's sort of weird that a convenient sword like that appeared out of nowhere. The new sword looks like it can take on the magic of someone else and use it for its own.

As for Yuno, it looks like he activated the scroll and added a spell to his grimoire. I'm sure it's going to be some sort of special, high level spell.

Yep, Yuno just acquired a super high level spell. It seems like it summons a fairy, although the extent of that magic is yet to be known.

The irony with Asta mentioning Noelle's ripped shirt and getting assaulted for it is that Asta also has his shirt ripped in the battle as well. Double standards there.

Did the Wizard King called Asta and Yuno by two different names?

Asta is really starting to come into his own there is probably not a single mage except for Yami that touch him in hand to hand combat and with the power to negate, deflect and now channel energy into his new sword. The person who people think would be the most useless in a world ruled magic just might become the strongest. I remember how everyone was shocked when his tunic got torn and they saw how ripped he was. In a land of magic there is no reason to better yourself physically. Asta for sure has the advantage in close quarters combat.

I think that the Wizard King keeps an eye on all new recruits, a bit like a Hokage does.

I'm not sure about that. It's more like Asta is a novelty. The anti magic swords are an element of surprise that work well on people with a lot of pride in their magic. Meaning that the moment Asta stops being an underdog, his enemies won't be fooled into taking a hit carelessly. This leads me to this weaknesses:

1. Poor movement: Asta's movements are not efficient. The way he moves is easy to predict for enemies and too straightforward. He doesn't move like a swordsman would if you compare his movements to swordsmanship in most anime. The reason this matters is because people won't always be Mage types who spam magic I think. He might run in trouble with mages that fight like Luck.

2. Weak defense: Asta's swords are anti magic as opposed to Asta himself having anti magic. What this means is that he probably can't develop various magics, namely defensive magic. This can be seen in his fighting style too, he piles up damage quickly. This makes him easy to kite. Most importantly, he can't read attacks. Someone like smoke guy is a bad matchup for him solo.

3. Poor attacks: His attacks aren't that strong, actually. It's not like his first sword actively cuts whatever mages use to access magic. Even his second sword drains magic over time. This means that he needs to keep "applying" his swords for efficiency or stab his opponents.

4. Limited movement: because he can't develop magics like a normal Mage can, he can't develop magic that makes him travel distances faster. This means that offensively his options are limited. And it makes it easier for others to kite him. Defensively it means that he can be attacked from the skies and from blind spots.

5. Indirect magic magic effects: As is custom with cancel type powers, Asta can't handle indirect magic and more specifically, magic effects. Since Asta doesn't generate mana, he has no mana to protect himself with. This means that his body takes the blow each time a magic hits him. If I were a fire magic user, I'd just use fire magic to rapidly augment the temperature around Asta to make him collapse and burn from the heat, or as an ice type Mage I'd just cause the area to drop in temperature until I can give him a frostbite. Or just use magic to hurl stones at him. The smoke guy has shown us, that Asta can't really handle omnidirectional attacks and can't defend from effects magic has.

6. Reinforcement magic: Like I said earlier, Asta can't handle magic effects that don't directly target him. At the same time people with more physical fighting styles, like Luck, are troublesome to him. This means that people who can enhance their physical abilities to leveled above Asta's are troublesome. And since magic makes it a lot more easier than physical exercise, it's fairly easy to reinforce your physical abilities. Asta also fights a lot of non-athletic people. Pit Asta against someone whose physical ability is high or equal to Asta, and you're going to see the disparity.

For a second there, I thought the Wizard King was their master.

So it looks like the big bad is from the Silva family, with the hair color and facial feature.

As for the Wizard Knights, they are mostly pretty pathetic. They get expelled and weren't even part of the fight to hold off the bad guys, yet they go around clamoring that Asta wasn't worth it, while he was the one that was holding off the bad guys.

As for the Wizard King, how did he know to come to that area? Also, why didn't he take reinforcements with him? Also, where were the rest of the Wizard Knights? As soon as the capital was attacked, shouldn't they have been informed to come immediately?

One of the random soldiers said that transmissions were blocked so they couldn't magically call for reinforcements.

The guy is the "Wizard King". He is supposed to be able to handle a lot on his own.

Congratulations! You got a new record!
More than 6 minutes (+OP) of old material!

I'm just watching this to see when we get half an episode of "Previously, on Black Clover"

With only 12 episodes to go, there are new opening and ending theme songs. At least Black Clover is consistent with changing theme songs for each season.

So we're down to our final stretch, and considering how much they stretch each story out, I'm guessing that the rest of the series will be dedicated to this Underwater Temple story. Training will probably take up a few episodes. Exploring will probably take up a few more. Then fighting will take up a lot of episodes, and the resolution will be 1 or 2 episodes to wrap up the series.

It was a fun ride, but I do believe if there was a better animation studio in charge of this anime, it could have been a lot more popular and successful. Studio Pierrot is also currently animating Boruto and formerly Puzzle and Dragon X. Considering the "quality" in those series, it's understandable why Black Clover is not doing as well. I do wonder if this studio even cares anymore, or they are just doing shows just to get by. Their last great anime was Akatsuki no Yona in 2014/2015. Well, Baby Steps was fine, too, in 2015.

Will the series get extended after its 51 episodes are up? I'm not sure if I will care, although I will watch it they do.

As for the episode, they are showing this mysterious girl at the end of the episode again. This is the second time they've done it, and it looks like she will play an important part, considering she is part of the new ending theme song.

I... Have actually dropped this show after, I think it was episode 5. I wanted to like it, I really did. But well, Naruto (filler) and One Piece (padding) have made me forever unable to deal with what I consider to be bad pacing.

That being said, it's good to see there are people still getting some enjoyment out of it.

Well....she did just say basically "See you at the temple." so she's prob important.

Sorry; dynamic content not loaded. Reload?

LOL. The comment I made was for 2 episodes ago, when we had no idea who she was. This episode did give us more of a clue as to her significance.

I'm hoping that Noelle learns more control and becomes more effective in battles. I'd like to see her confidence grow (and her arrogance regress).

Yep, too bad Pierrot is way too inconsistent and love to ruin anime with filler. But i'm glad we at least are having such a nice animation in this fight in particular against the beast man. One of the coolest team fights i ever saw in shonen i might add. All of the members from the Black Bull had their time to shine. Really fantastic.

2 episodes to go. I will miss this series. If Studio Pierrot did a better job with this adaptation, then Black Clover would have been more popular. However, it is what it is. The final fight scene was pretty good, so that's at least a good send off.

It will not be the end. They will continue the anime, without any hiatus between seasons.

Yeah, was going to jump straight to the manga after the season ended, even if it left itself open to a season down the line, but since they are going to continue with no pauses, I'll stick to the anime for a while longer =03.

Any mention on # of episodes?
