I don't know if "pity-watching" is a thing, but that's the only way I can define my relationship with Gibiate. However, after this abomination of a penultimate episode and this dumb alien reveal, I can only feel sorry for Yoshitaka Amano, Yuzo Koshiro, Sugizo and the talented voice actors who blemished their careers with this. The writing was never good, but it finally became as bad as the show's production values.
In fact, as this show went on, I got more and more convinced that this is an aborted video game project that they decided to turn into a low-budget anime series in an attempt to recoup their investment. I mean, are they even going to explain the time travel thing or did the creators just think it would be cool to have time-displaced warriors from the Edo period fight monsters alongside a tonfa-wielding female cop and some yakuza thugs with different weapons? My friend and I just watched 11 and were "Oh, come on!!!!!" I saw The Fonz jumping a shark. The writing was poor and the characters were just so one dimensional. They lead us to believe that the doctor was trying to make a vaccine and then twist it so bad that it makes you laugh at how bad it is. And they don't even address the characters from the past and WHY they were transported to the future. The only reason we kept watching was to see if the situation would be resolved. RIP everyone.

In a textbook case of "be careful what you wish for", they did explain the time travel stuff, but it was such a pathetic, nonsensical explanation that now I kind of wish they had left it up in the air instead. They also saved some of the show's worst animation for this terrible finale. People who dropped Gibiate earlier had no idea how much worse it would get in its last two episodes.
