Seriously what hype? The first couple of pages have been cautious expectations, RAEG for not animating more Haruhi, MOAR RAEG for looking like K-on, MAXIMUM RAEG for having a boring trailer and a few people trying to give posters informations about the anime and the original novels, thanks to that one guy, we do know to NOT expect CSI or Se7en with highschoolers. So yeah, what hype? The couple of positive impressions that somehow get blown out of proportions by the usual suspects? Oh please.
Oh, there is plenty of hype. Negative hype, that is.

Some would say that "hype is hype"

Some would would call that "pure crap".

To each their own.

These words need to be framed, put in an altar, and paraded across the world.

Today's update is a re-designed KyoAni website. They have a new blog and updated the cast. I'll edit that in shortly.

Official site updated with a CM.

Edit: New minor characters:
Tomohiro Haba: Atsushi Abe
Misaki Owakiguchi: Mariya Ise
Jirou Sugimura: Miyu Irino
Midori Yamanishi: Ami Koshimuzu
Mamiko Senoue: Hirohashi Ryou
Takeo Katsuta: Yuuki Tai
Omichi-sensei: Takumi Yamazaki

There's also going to be an event on April 14th at the Kadokawa Garden Cinema in Shinjuku. Satou Satomi (Eru), Takemoto (Supervisor), Gatou (Series Composer), and Tanaka (music) will speak and they will screen the first episode.

2nd edit: Manga volume 1 cover:

Kadokawa will be re-releasing the first four Kotenbu novels with covers featuring the 4 main characters drawn by Nishiya.

Perhaps this may be an indication that they will only be animating these novels.

Currently there are 5 novels published:
Hyouka
The Credit Roll of the Fool
The Kudryavka Sequence
The Chick that Changes from Afar
The Approximation of the Distance of Two

There is also one short story that has not been published in a novel: Is the Mountain Range Open?

The latest novel was published in June 2010 with its stories running in October 2009-April 2010 in the Kadokawa monthly publication Rough Ages. Nothing has been published in the series since then.

Not sure. I tried to read the Japanese wiki on it a while ago and what I got was that at some point in the novels the point of view switches to another set of characters.

I don't know if it means some graduate and others are brought into the club, or if the plot of the mystery focused on another set of people and the original set had to solve it at the end, or if characters die, or what. I'm unclear on it because the translation program was being a real bastard about it that day and only giving me about half the page and likely giving me translations of proper nouns.

Looks like theres going to be an 25 minute original episode written by Yasuhiro Takemoto himself in the third Blu-Ray limited-edition disc...and it'd be an pool/swimsuit episode. 2nd coming of Tessa OVA?

Takemoto is only writing the script. The plot will be written by the novel's Honobu Yonezawa. It's basically the same as any episode.

Edit: Summary thus far:

2nd Edit: This isn't worth making a new post, but if you would like a clearer picture of the new novel covers the official site has updated with them.

Ahh, and upon further re-inspection, it looks like its an 1 episode OVA included with the third volume of the manga, not the third anime volume BD. Sorry for the misinformation.

Well, I have no studio's bias usually, except for DEEN. So I have just watched the PV expecting nothing more and nothing less of what the PV would have showed me. The very first thing that stood out, even more than the very good art style, has been the music: how to take one of the most beautiful classic pieces and waste it. Not very promising. Even worst of Another OP choice. I didn't like the off-screen voice either. Wrong pace maybe? Mix them together and ... boom Having said that, I really like the art design, but the PV didn't focus on the mystery side of the story, and I found it suspicious enough to think that I haven't to expect much from that front. To be honest I'm not expecting anything from that front.
Anyways, this could be better, I mean having no expectations, because it is not unusual that series I'm finding very promising end to be no good (Papakiki, I'm looking at you) and vice versa :gattai: So, who knows? Maybe they are downplaying it deliberately (half joking ).
