Kanade greatly undershot my prediction and still walks away with over 60% of the votes. It's still a really bad performance, though. Kanade can seriously lose to Kuroyukihime is she has another result like this.

Rita Ainsworth seems pretty strong. She was eligible this year so the nominators really should have put more effort into getting her into preliminaries to see how she does. Maou looks like she could probably beat Holo, not that that says much these days. She's probably got a good chance at making the regular season next year. Kurumi and Yukino stomp their opponents as expected. It's always a bit difficult to predict just how big these wins will be sometimes.

Fair analysis... but to clarify if that little comment near the end was in any way a nod to me, Maou is no substitute for Holo, some similarities... yes, similar voice... check, but you can't slap a pair of headband horns on a girl, give her an impractical bust size and make her moe... nope, Maou ain't replacin' my wolfu.

If such a battle did occur, Holo still wins in my book... would support Maou in the other matches though.

Oh, and I hope Kanade goes down soon.

While I think it's possible for Mikoto to win against Kanade if they have their rematch in the race for the tiara, after seeing the current results..... Mikoto might not have to worry about her rematch with Kanade if she can't beat her next opponent.

- Mikoto wins her match against Aoyama, but based on stats alone, Aoyama got alittle too close to Mikoto.
- Meanwhile, Ayase (7th seeded in stella) ends up with more total votes (than Mikoto) against a much stronger Rikka (2nd seeded in Nova)

Even though the series to Oreimo is complete, it is just recent enough that Ayase could pull a snipe on Mikoto. <I hope not!>

More cringe worthy, the tiara match ends up not being Ruri vs. Kanade, but Ruri vs. Ayase.

KuroYukiHime ends up being the lone Nova winner against Taiga.

I really don't get my fellow ISML followers sometimes.

Kanade achieves all of the following:

The only girl this round to get over 6000 votes in a match that actually matters.
The only girl this round to clear 60% victory percentage on her rival.
A vote differential of over 2300 over her rival.

And people are saying she had a "really bad performance"?

And only now are people agreeing with me that she could get sniped before the finals, lol. I'm glad that people are agreeing with me on that, but her performance here is not the reason why she could get sniped.

You know, I almost mercy-voted Inori in this match because I knew she was going to badly lose. You don't suppose some of Kanade's typical voters might have done that, or just sat the match out correctly thinking that Kanade had this in the bag?

I mean, geez, we frequently see this over in J-SaiMoe where sitting out matches is much riskier given the far lower vote totals. The strongest girls tend to rise and fall to the level of their competition, so reading a lot into Kanade only doing a normal curbstomp rather than a "Why are they even bothering to hold this match?!" curbstomp seems like over-analyzing to me.

But yes, Kanade could lose before the finals if some strong girl's voter-base decides to try to snipe her.

In any event, I'm very happy with the results. I'm pleasantly surprised to see KYH defeat Taiga. The other Tiara round matches went as expected.

Ayase is a 7th seed because she took some early losses before she grew into the powerhouse she is today. She wouldn't lose to Yuki, Shana and Azusa again. She would do a lot better than 40% on Misaka and I guess we're about to find out if she can outright win. Rikka had some bad luck drawing Ayase. She would have been better off if she threw the match in the Nova Circlet Semifinals and faced Taiga instead.

In regards to Kanade's performance. A decent margin of victory isn't necessarily good enough if your opponent is weak like Inori is supposed to be (relative to everyone in the Tiara bracket). 60% on Inori is not that good. It's not that bad but that's not good enough when aiming for first place. Kanade obliterated something like 80-90+ opponents over the last 3 years. Deciding to finally start showing some mercy in the single elimination playoff tournament makes no sense. Jsaimoe is JSaimoe. Perhaps things are different there but Kanade's ISML fans have no problem showing up to blowout matches day after day.

I just looked over Kanade's Topaz matches for this year. She only hit 6,000 votes twice in 7 matches. Two of the opponents she failed to get 6,000 votes against were Kuroi Mato and Illyasviel von Einzbern, and I'd be surprised if Inori isn't stronger than them at this point (Inori was 8th in Nova, while Mato and Illyasviel were 25th and 26th in Stella).

So I do think there's recent pre-playoff evidence there that some Kanade voters only show up for truly tough competition.
