China's growth and currently activities are not sustainable for the next 30-40 years. Their trade imbalances will either be corrected or will seriously undermine the countries they currently trade with, both of which will result in slowed growth and potential loss of jobs (leading to civil unrest). They're already facing some environmental problems that are set to grow massively unless they begin to regulate their activity (either decreases economic output, or utilizes wealth to safeguard the environment - both of us cut into the nation's earnings).

I don't foresee China taking over the USA's position any time soon - not without some major changes.

That site is an Iranian mouthpiece. When quoting from that, it is a requirement to turn up the BS meter.

My first question would be ''How and why a ex FBI agent would know such thing?'' . We aren't talking about a ex CIA , NSA or Special Force than would be more likely to be related to such work.

Hence the reason why I advise to turn up the BS meter. Also, it could be a "familiarisation programme" run by the Quds that got busted....they are learnimg how to pass off as Americans so they can infiltrate foreign US bases, especially those in the Gulf.

That is if economy's going well in the US. These days, the Republicans use their majority to block things. While in the past, the members could be either on this side or on that side, if they think what they are doing is right, it's not the case anymore. And political instability is bad for a country.

China isn't near to declare war on a country. No one likes to make war, honestly, especially between great countries. As long as China is doing great economically, it wouldn't try to invade any country. Though surely, it doesn't really appreciate the submarines lurking around its country.

In Syria's case, China won't let any leader to step down like that, so that it wouldn't influence the Chinese people to make the Communist party step down.

For now, there's some fews contested islands and of course Taiwan than might get China to use his military in a offensive way.

A turnaround in the Iraq-Syria gun smuggling trade:

"The rifles are first taken apart and hidden in cigarette cartons and kerosene tanks.
Younis Al Lehaibi and his sons then put them in their lorries and head out to Iraq's
vast, dusty border with Syria. Their objective: to smuggle weapons to Syrian rebels
who seek the overthrow of President Bashar Al Assad.

It is a turnaround from the height of the Iraqi war six years ago, when weapons
and fighters would cross from Syria to aid fellow Sunnis in Iraq."

""A good number" of unmanned U.S. military and intelligence drones are
operating in the skies over Syria, monitoring the Syrian military's attacks against

Two foreign journalists killed in Homs
Quote:
The deaths of two Western journalists Wednesday in Syria -- where at least three other journalists have been killed in covering the uprising -- highlight the danger reporters face in covering conflict zones.

Marie Colvin, a longtime American foreign correspondent for London's The Sunday Times, and prize-winning war photographer Remi Ochlik, 28, were killed in shelling in the city of Homs, the besieged center of resistance to President Bashar al-Assad's regime.

I thought they weren't allowing journalists into the country.

Those who were already there were allowed to stay I think. Or the police didn't bother about them snooping around, or maybe even that the rebels are hiding them to use as a mouthpiece to the outside world.

From where? The Turkish and Iraqis guard their borders to prevent spillovers from either side, especially with the terrorists having a free reign now.

Saw a video report a while back from a journalist that managed to sneak in from the turkish boarder. So it is possible, but definatly quite risky.
