Argh, I'm gonna freeze to death, dammit!
After somehow escaping his hospital bed, Kamijou Touma finds himself in Los Angeles!?
It should be warm, yet it's freezing, and the entire population is missing!?
Kamijou and Index work together to fix this abnormality caused by Anna's R&C Occultics.
After evading an attacking magician, they find the one survivor - a silver-haired, brown-skinned little girl - and the "traces" of her mother.
Once Kamijou takes on the mother and daughter's feelings, he can break through that darkness!!

Preview has been translated.

The pacing so far has been perfect. In the first 1.5 parts of Chapter 1, the scenario, context and objectives have been laid out; the main team have had pleasant interactions and have already touched down in LA and begun their investigation.

And Othinus is there proving herself as the best girl again:

Kamijou began some frantic whispering when he heard a girl’s voice from within his collar, but the 15cm god had no intention of remaining hidden. She squirmed on out of his jacket.

Yeah, this preview is like some of his most solid writing in ages. GT 3 was already amazing, but this is looking even better.

Really liked everything I saw so far.

To be fair, those are empty words coming from Othinus since all she does is just hang out in his hoodies, that's the complete opposite of her words since she literally doesn't have to try and "create a role" especially considering she already has a role. If anything, that read like she is trying way too hard to ignore the ones actually doing so.

Someone finally had the balls to cleanse Hollywood, sadly everyone else got caught in the middle.

So one thing that I feel is that the Status Quo STILL hasn't been affected, we might get a menace to status quo but everything will be back to normalcy which became a predictable pattern.

I don't know what to say about this besides showing my disappointment.

Since I'm bored... I'll speculate out of my shoes:

^That'll depend on how vaguely you define status quo. I'd say the status quo has changed since GT started and will continue to change. Though since its Index we're talking about here, it'll be done piecewise across a decade of novels.

Anyways, Chapter 1 is fully translated.

Its off to a good start so far. I am enjoying the investigation and further melding of the science and magic involved. Looks like the uncovering the mystery of the disappearances (and method for returning them) will make up the core of the volume.

Spit-take at the Five Overs (for Meltdowner and Accelerator even) just left behind in the Academy City tents.

The party is dwindling, now that Kaori has disappeared.

The cause of the disappearances has also been revealed. It's basically a combination of magical sand that makes people disappear and delivery drones that are used to manipulate the weather, helping to move the sand around.
