BTW. The director and studio are the same as for Grisaia: Phantom Trigger.

I know that in the game and like KC it will be the girls gliding in water for battles but seeing some big ships in the water, Hood equipping a big ship(likely her model ship itself) and probably Enterprise standing in an aircraft carrier makes me hope that it will have a mix of Arpeggio. That there are real big ships fighting in the water controlled by the girls themselves and that they can transform the ships to equip it on their body and proceed to the water gliding battles. Just that will make me happy even if the story would suck.
Though the big question is will there be a Commander or not. KC's Admiral was nonexistent at all even if he is there as a shadow that the characters talk to at times. We'll see.

The movie was pretty good actually.

But colour me surprised, didn't expect it's popularity in Japan to be that significant. I really hope they will go a real ship route rather than going Kancolle. It's one part of Azur Lane where I'm less than impressed, this copying of the rigging structure of the Kancolle design that's moreover for most of the girls not even done well.

KC has been on a steady decline since 2016 thanks to lazy devs with poor management of the franchise.
At the same time AL has only been going up since then and the Japanese audience loves it.

If there will be a commander in this thing, he will definitely have the Harem Protagonist EX skill solely because of how massive just the Alliance fleet is.

As far as I've seen the campaign in the game follows the Pacific War very closely (Azur Lane isn't exactly a staple of creativity) and has scenes like in a VN. Not sure how fleshed out it is.

Just started the game not too long ago, but it seems like World War 2 but with ships from all eras.

I dont like what they have done with the french navy, and the RN. Then again, I suspect that the creative direction in AL have been about hitting ALL the fanservice tropes with no regard to actual historical quirks, because they know there are a lot of people who only took interest in KC to see what KC could do with their home navy, and that is a market share to take. Seriously, ALL the comments I have seen in Discord about AL characters have been gushing about how much more sexy their girls are.

Yes, it's something I've noticed about AL. There is a strong focus on fanservice with showing lots of skin and/or oversized breasts. Quite a few characters look as if they are right out of an eroge. I can't help but feel that AL is going more into the direction of a cash grab by using the spaces opened but left unoccupied by Kancolle. Of the two Chinese-originated games that I got into recently, I've been much more impressed with Girls Frontline than with AL.

In general I think AL suffers from a severe lack of artistic guidance. The art styles are just all over the place. Just look at let's say, Hood (whose design I really like by the way, I think whoever's designed her captured her perfectly), Enterprise, Chicago, Queen Elizabeth, Saratoga, Akagi, Scharnhorst and Mutsuki. All of them have wildly different art styles with some not even remotely fitting a common theme.

But it's all good as long as they are gushing about the girls. I made the mistake of looking into the comment section of the PV video above. Stumbled across people bashing Kancolle as America-hating because there are not enough USN ships.

It generally follows WW2, but there isn't really a story-ish story. So no one has any idea what they plan to do for the anime. Of course, there are various settings.
Some people hope that it will be slice-of-life, some people hope no one days, everyone hopes that the characters aren't changed from the game, etc etc

It's not a bad thing. As long as the art is good, I can enjoy the different types of art styles. And it is nice that they are willing to spend money on getting people like Tony Taka to draw characters when other games try to be cheap and use mainly only illustrators from within their company and all.

I think It kind of future where Sakura Empire (Japan) and Iron Blood (German) start a war thinking it could lead to a better future with a group of mysterious bring "Sirens" manipulated both of them
or actually give them power to do so in other to replicate WW2

btw Sirens force look like it come out from futuristic scifi story, their boss type char is also a ship girl

As long as the art is nice I personally am happy, but anyways, give it time.....Kantai was just a barebones browser game at the start before all the JP writers started working on it. AL just had its first few LN and manga out not long ago.
