Considering Harutora managed to _pass_ when he was dumped into what is said to be a really hard set of classes cold, he's not stupid. Yes, he had help from Natsume, but if he was stupid that wouldn't matter.

What he is, sadly, is an anime protagonist, so he gets hit with the idiot ball for plot and humor. Just like Natsume gets hit with the tsundere stick once in a while for humor.

Touji is pretty level headed and not stupid, but I'd say he has a different sort of intelligence. He is used to dealing with people, which is smarts, but not the only kind of smarts.

She was 14 a year ago, and would probably be 15 now during the 2nd term.

When the story started, Haru, Nastume, Kyouko and Tenma were all 16. Touji is 17 because Haru states that he's only a year older.

There is even a better example of your first point than that.

Here is a small excerpt from vol 1 during his first confrontation with Suzuka after hearing that she was going sacrifice herself to preform the ritual which was cut down in the anime a bit.

But Harutora made the first move, speaking with a calm tone:

Harutora: "You plan on leaving first and making your brother bear the crime you committed? Sacrificing yourself? That would be rather pitiful for your brother who will be left alone in this world."

Suzuka: "That......"

For once, a timid look showed in Suzuka's eyes.

Suzuka:"......That's nonsense, it's impossible, my brother would definitely......"

Harutora: "Do you think he'd be happy to see you do this? Sacrificing his sister for his own life - do you think he'd be grateful for you? Don't even talk about after revival, he'd be treated as an experimental product of forbidden magic. If it does lead to a spiritual disaster, all of society will raise its voice to condemn your brother - not just the Onmyou Agency. Do you have the heart to make your brother live on pitifully, bearing your mistake by himself? Are you still going to say that you're doing this for your brother?"

Needless to say he poked a big hole in her plan and she couldn't rebut his sound argument because that thought hadn't crossed her mind. Not something an actual idiot would say or think.

I could also point out his other instances of perceptiveness and intelligence like when he figured out that Kyouko was using him as pretext to start fights with Natsume rather than her having any real issue with himself. His whole dialogue with Touji during episode 8, the climatic fight in episode 3 etc.

The show just gets better and better. I also like that they got rid of that horrid 3D animation.
Compared to Strike the Blood, TR manages to be much more fluid, consistent and natural series , while StB sometimes forces the humor and drama.

They didn't, it's just that when they don't have those boring "action scenes", they don't use 3d and the whole thing looks better.

I thought the CG in episodes 3 and 9's action scenes were pretty good. Only the second episode seemed fairly "iffy" to me.

Man, it sure took Harutora a while to figure out that Nastume was the one controlling Hokuto. I hope he confronts her about it soon.

Anyways, interesting stuff we learned this episode. A lot of things are still unclear though. Saotome is a interesting character.

Episode 12 was great.
Is great how Harutora even being hammered with the baka weapon, is still an insightful clever person. Is great when shows dont pamper you with flat characters once in a while.

Agreed.

X-ecounter is the better OP (and probably one of the top ones of the year), but this quite good and I can certainly see myself watching the 2nd opening weekly with it.

Its animation and direction is also very cool, and fits 100% with the song, which is OK, but not anything memorable.
