They're looking at one particular ingredient and trying to determine whether the ingredient itself may cause health problems. That's one way to go about it, I suppose, but it overlooks the fact that having antibacterial agents in hand soaps for the average person is pointless. You're doing little more than breeding massive resistance against the antibiotic in the soap. The goal isn't to sterilize your hands (which you wouldn't want to do either, unless you're performing surgery), it's simply to lessen the bacterial load. As the article mentions, washing your hands for a longer period of time is more effective at removing bacteria than is the use of a soap laced with antibiotics.

Regardless of the FDA's findings of this agent's effects on human health, these types of soaps should be banned.

Depending to how you count them, to wash your hands is supposed to be a 8 or 9 step procedure.

Nature at work. If it died it is because the telomeres are too short or the cell structure is not stable enough - Mother Nature chucked the experiment out of the window and somewhere down the line, created us.
