I think the returning the video part is the real movie and the previous random stuff was a movie within a movie, and since we are watching the show itself, that makes it a movie within a movie within a movie.

Very probably - a simple alien vs alien battle wouldn't satisfy the "documentary on making a film" or the "school life" requirements.

The ep was worth watching but I didn't feel it was anything special, it felt like they'd decided to do a "me too" version of the Haruhi film episode. No talking cat though. The storm bit was kind of daft, a bit of a shaggy dog story.

If there is a second series, I hope they finally sort out how to combine meaningful plot with comedy, I think Kannagi suffered from being by an inexperienced mangaka who should have been assigned a heavy duty editor by the publisher to straighten out the mess instead of letting the whole thing flounder somewhere between slapstick and meaningful story.

If this episode did anything, it reminded me of just how much I enjoyed Kannagi and how much I crave for the second season. They really should have just filmed that overdramatic journey to return a video, it would have made for a much better movie than the one Akiba threw together. Apart from that, everyone else was above stellar. Got a good amount of laughs and got a good feel of the characters once again. God I sure did miss them.

Oh, and does finding that huge amount of cash (can one even get that lucky?) represent the fact that by part 2 they mean another OVA? I can only hope.

Maybe... the first/small stack of money was the budget for the first season of kannagi and now they have the second / huge stack of $$ ready for the second season (?)

I just watched this...reminds me of the comedy overwhelming the story in the series.The video game part was the funniest part of the ep.This thread is kinda dead now so I don't suppose anyone will read this xD

I agree, I was meh on some parts, definately waiting for a second season.
