This however upsets me a little since I feel the only truly emotional and impacting path in the game was either from Otome or Yume's path. I don't have anything against Koko at all I think she is a very nice character, but I really hope they are not going to remove the MAJOR plot device only seen in Otome & Yume's path. (I haven't finished Koko's path however, so if the major plot device IS used also in Koko's path please correct me)

one of the better eps so far for this series imo ^^ the relationship development for nanaka was just awesome! and why is it that the one she likes wont have a chance of liking her back *frustrated* - seems like this series doesnt like idols getting their true loves

I very much suspect that they're still going to use the "MAJOR" plot device in the Otome/Yume path, instead of the less impactful one found in Koko's path (no, they don't use the same one). They can still invoke that without either Otome or Yume necessarily being Yoshiyuki's girlfriend, as it'll have close to the same impact. They'll also be able to follow the game's "D.C. path" as well. So I think we'll still get the "true ending", just with Yoshiyuki still being in love with Koko. As I commented before, I think Koko is the only girl of all the heroines where you could have her be the "chosen girl" and still touch on all 5 of the other paths without too much conflict.

I've been speaking to another fellow D.C. fan today, and would like to offer some revised speculation on what the D.C. II anime might be up to (mostly meant for people who know the game story).

Spoiler for Anime Speculation based on the game, with no explicit spoilers:

It's becoming more apparent to me that the anime is somewhat similar to the game in that it's taking us through the other character's "paths" before we get to the Asakuras. They've been focusing almost exclusively on Koko, Minatsu, and Nanaka. Which leads me to believe that they may actually go through all 13 episodes of this season, go for the "major plot device/twist", but still not explain it from the Asakuras/Sakura's perspective. (Just as, so far, none of the magic demonstrated has been explained.) They might then use the movie (or some sort of part 2) to tell that side of the story. Like I said, this is sort of like the game in that all 4 heroines are unlocked at the start, and the Asakuras only get unlocked later, with D.C. path at the end. They're keeping the "mystery" up, but people who already know what's going on can notice all the hints. So I think the overall success of the show/series, from my perspective, will depend on how they handle that aspect of the story (even if it is through the movie/sequel/etc.)

It appears that the authors are trying to avoid nice boat situation. As far as I understood Nanaka was very serious about Yoshiyuki in the game, even in the Koko path. Here she restrained herself from any explicit statements.
And Yoshiyuki said something like ' its nice to be friends, only we better do without hugs after all'.

This time I understood almost everything, the most complicated thing was the talk between Yoshiyuki and Nakaka when they were sitting on the bench, that passed ok too. Basically most parts can be deducted from the visuals. Apart from that I had to check some words in the dictionary including

the words are very useful, i must have come across them before but forgot them due to lack of speech practice.

I actually managed to watch the first season to the end. For me it was pretty enjoyable though many people said its boring lame etc.
It turned out that Sakura is really Rika, or Tamura Yukari, though its only true animewise. She can be pretty scary when in bad mood, ne?
Also Junichi in D.C.S.S. is like a different person, doesnt look like himself in DC at all

I suspect that a lot of people complaining about the first season (especially comments like "boring/lame") didn't stick around for the second half. I enjoyed the first half of the show well enough, but the second half was really what gripped me. D.C.S.S. was similar in that the second half of the show was by far the better part (for me). And yeah, the design for Junichi changed with the second season to make him look more similar to his look in the game.

And as for your comment about episode 7...

Well, yeah -- on both Koko and Nanaka's path in the game, it's set up as a love triangle between the two girls. Everyone knows that Koko's in love with Yoshiyuki (except, of course, Yoshiyuki), but Nanaka falls in love with him as well as they get to know each other in the band. In order to choose Koko, Yoshiyuki actually has to reject Nanaka's confession. So, it wasn't very surprising, in the anime, that they showed Nanaka developing feelings for Yoshiyuki even though he was already going out with Koko; it's an essential part of her character in the game. That being said, Nanaka is in no way vengeful or spiteful (so there'd never be any sort of "nice boat situation"); she will always come around and support her best friend Koko. So even though the scenario in episode 7 never happened in the game exactly (since, in the game, Yoshiyuki wasn't going out with anyone to this point), the anime kept a lot of the same elements.

well it was another "filler via development for side character minatsu" episode (geez i wish they would get to the drama already )...her secret is out after an accident where she saves yume from a falling sign, while getting herself trapped under it instead...surprisingly she isnt injured at all but then has a blow out and is taken to hospital against yoshiyuki's wishes "bla bla".
the truth is spilt later on but while yoshiyuki's reason for not telling them about her being a robot was that they cannot accept the fact - they state that it doesnt make a difference seen as she is their friend.

a happy yoshiyuki is overjoyed and goes over to hug/swing on minatsu...earning a well placed punch

i guess the only hint of something "dramatic" to happen would be a girl with glasses who has always been looking at minatsu in a funny way ~ hateful probably

I just love episode 06, highly enjoyable. This episode makes my love for Minatsu even stronger then it was before --- what with seeing her happy blushblushblush side (<3), her not sure blushblushblush side, and a serious side which makes you want to hug her and never let go.

& what's this, just when i was thinking this should didn't have enough Sakura, she makes a special appearance at the end of the episode. It's not enough, though it's like not i expect her to be in just about every single scene, i just wish we'd get to see more of her.

Well, it's not "filler" in the sense that people usually mean it; it's taken straight from the game (edit: well, the events are re-mixed, but the same basic thing happened, as with before), and is very much part of the "main plot" of D.C. II. It's just not directly related to Koko's plot (but is indirectly related). I guess you could say that it's sort of like Multi's story in the original ToHeart anime (to which this anime adaptation has a lot in common in terms of focus/pacing/etc.). Is filler supposed to mean "anything not directly impacting the main romantic interest", and why? Personally, I like Minatsu, but I guess that's just me (and a few others ).

And I don't even know what people mean by "harem" anymore, honestly. To me, a "harem" is when the guy has his pick of multiple girls all in love with him. In this anime (unlike the original D.C. anime), he's very much declared and re-affirmed his love for Koko, making it very "non-harem". But this is why I have no idea what people mean when they say that. It seems like a slur/derogative that can mean whatever the person wants to mean by it, and other people agree if they dislike the show/episode.

Like I said above, this continues to tell Minatsu's story from the game. At this point, at the pace they're going, I think we've got at least one or two episodes of Minatsu's story left to go (they could make it as many as three if they wanted to). And, although they continue to drop hints (that floating sakura petal was a hint as big as the sign that fell...), will they actually even tell the sakura tree story this season? I honestly have no idea anymore. At this point, I'm almost back to thinking that this is just part one of a multi-season show, but that raises all sorts of questions.

Koko's look near the end is a bit mysterious -- I highly doubt that she thinks Yoshiyuki's doing something wrong, but is she feeling lonely? Betrayed that Yoshiyuki didn't trust her with the secret after all (even though she said she trusted him)? I really don't know.

Maya's look, though, is no mystery. A hint of things to come for sure. It looks like, as the OP indicated, Minatsu's story is getting a primary focus in this anime, even though Koko's his "chosen girl". If I had to place a bet right at this moment, I would guess that they're not even going to touch the Asakuras' stories at all this season; either they're saving that for the movie, a part 2, or something else.

Other than that, I'm looking forward to the continued following of Minatsu's plot.

They're taking a detour from standard harem anime patterns with the pairing of Koko and Yoshiyuki right off the bat. Although the most basic "premise" for harem anime is still there, being that there is only one male love interest for every major female character. Though I do enjoy their effort at taking a non-standard approach, the show did take away the suspense of waiting to see who Yoshiyuki chooses at the end. (I know most shows make it rather obvious who the main girl will be, but it's still fun to guess despite the evidence)

Note: I should say that the rapid pairing was a "solid" one, unlike other animes where one side or both are half-hearted.

well if this becomes a significant event where it plays "some" role in the future i will happily eat my words...but for now i just cant think of any other uses it has besides being a stand alone ep with no revelation (or if you call the others knowing about minatsu a revelation ^^)

i like minatsu too but she has been showing up way too often...give me more otome goddamit >_<

I'm rather liking the "different plot arrangement" and the Minatsu focus though it really seems like "consolation prize for the poor robot girl" so far. Still think the first episode was one of the most concise little bits of drama I've seen in eroge-based anime.

Well, I can tell you this much "for free"; it's certainly not a standalone episode. It's the middle of a story arc. Whether you end up liking that story arc or not, though, I can't say, of course.

For Yume, you're basing that only on her attitude and occasional glances/glares? Hmm... Possible, but that seems like applying a bit too much "Nemu" to Yume; they're not quite the same.

As for Nanaka, though, I don't think there's anything to be "afraid of" -- the end of the last episode was very clear; she did give up on Yoshiyuki, because she knows he doesn't feel the same way. There's, of course, a way that could change, but I don't think it's very likely...

(And as for wanted to see more Otome, see my second spoiler above for what I think's going on. Time will tell...)

Well, depends on what you mean by "consolation prize", I guess. In this genre, people tend to think of "having your love reciprocated" as the "prize". But I don't think Minatsu's at all in love with Yoshiyuki, or vice-versa; I don't think her plot in the anime is about love, but about friendship/acceptance as an equal. So maybe that's a consolation prize in the traditional meaning of the word applied to this genre, but I don't think it's being played that way.

Ep 6

My God, this series is making its predecessors like bad. The creators of the first two series should really be embarrassed by how big a gap in storytelling and characterization there is between this current series and the older ones.

Not that I think this is an amazing series, but it's a decent series and, as Kaoru Chujo says, it manages to hold its own. There wasn't anything new or brilliant in this ep, but it dealt with some interesting issues without trivializing them, and put a character (in this case Minatsu) there for all of us to see. There was a level of characterization here that was rather scarce in the older series.

This works. I'm liking this. It's not series of the year or anything like that by any stretch of the imagination, but it's rather enjoyable, due to the fact that the characters are genuine and likable and the relationships makes sense and have dynamics. These are all of the things that were lacking in the other DC series.

Might i ask, what exactly did Mizukoshi say to yoshiyuki at around 14:35. The meaning was to tell the truth but what about the research lab (kenkyuujo)?
It seems that i should expect to see Minatsu having problems with the school and Maya in particular, like in the game.
Btw, in the beginning of the episode they mentioned a school trip, will they actually show it?
Among other things I dont have an HDTV so I convert files to dvd and this time the files are exactly 666 mb.
oh, and the background music near the end reminds me of Chaikovsky (waltz of the flowers to be exact)

I'm not sure what the "kii" after "kenkyuujo" means, and that seems to be the key there. My impression from the context is that she's either saying something like "I never thought something like this would happen" or "There's nothing I can do about it", but those are just extrapolations. The main point in the larger context, as you said, was that she was trusting his friends to him (in other words, "you'll need to figure out a way to explain it to them").

As for whether they'll show the school trip, I think they probably will. I assume this is a sort of the fall substitute for the winter trip in the game.

I'm surprised you noticed the little pun. Perhaps other people who watched episode 8 can decipher that sentence; otherwise, we'll just wait for the subs like everyone else.
