You!

Yeah, when Honey and Clover finished (I was finishing Monster at the same time) there was a long while in which no worthwhile animes were available until my friend recced Mushishi to me. Since Mushishi finished I've moved on to Blood+... but not before rewatching episode 20 several times in two languages to make sure I weaned every nuance out of it. Tanyuu and Ginko = the OTP. *Chuckle*

Yes - big questions!

Is Ginko going to be able to stop travelling?
Will Tanyuu be able to stop sitting/writing?

That last 5 minutes of Episode 20 had me grinning from ear to ear.

It looks freakin' awesome. It's been too long since I saw episode 1 for me to properly compare the subbing of the versions, but I cannot stress how wonderful the video is.

Its h264. Wooooooooooowwwww. There's nothing in this world like h264.

EDIT: Just watched it. With previous subs of Mushishi, the background art was beautiful, with h264, the beauty AND detail sweeps you off your feet.

Backgrounds backgrounds!!!

Well, it's almost as if episode 20 had been written as an ending, "just in case". If it'd had to serve, it would have done so admirably - letting us inside Ginko in a way that hadn't been done before. That there are six more eps to come only makes it that much sweeter.

While I agree that there have been a few episodes that have been less than stellar, that's unavoidable in an episodic series of this nature - and the remarkable thing to me is that even the lesser stories have still been entertaining and eminently enjoyable, IMO. 16 for example - which seems to have been criticized as much as any around here - was, for my money, some of the best anime I've seen this year. Mushishi is the best show of the season, clearly, and Ginko the most intriguing protagonist. Only 31 days to wait...

I've always wanted to ask - how do you play h264 videos? The best I can get is the audio.

Get matroska pack and then play the h264 video on Window Meida Classic (yes, don't use Window Media Player 10 or 9 or what ever, use classic).

Hope that helps.

Okey, he may not be Ginko.
Then I wonder if foreign Mushishi can help Karibusa family.
Modern recorder may have to learn several languages for international library.

Yeah... needs to be older. And I think this guy is trying too hard to look sexy, which spoils the whole image. Ginko doesnt try to look good, he just does. I also have an issue with the cigarette. The ones Ginko smoke are brown all thru ('cept at the ends, where they're burnt darker brown) and crumpled and bendy and stuff, very very likely hand-rolled. Details Details!!

I don't quite think that this is the kind of show to be watched in a marathon, although it can be viwed fine that way.

I think that the correct way to apreciatte this show is to view each episode separetelly and digest it well that way.

As for the DVD release, is quite good and have an excellent quality, highly recommended to everyone who wants to rewatch the show.

The beauty with having essentially self-contained episodes is that once the 26 eps have aired, and even if you have watched them all once thru, whenever you feel like it, you can randomly pick an (one) episode to watch, and chances are, you'll enjoy it as much as you enjoyed watching it the first time, if not more.

Very true. It must be difficult to capture Ginko's natural charisma. Anyways, relating to the topic of cosplaying and real life representation of Ginko, is there any (more) news about the Mushishi Live Action movie? I'm aware of little more than its existence, other than the fact that it was announced last October and Katsuhiro Otomo is going to direct it.

I recommend VLC on any platform (PC/Mac/Linux) if you want to play video.
Try it out, it's free!
