Made in Abyss: Tabidachi no Yoake (Journey's Dawn)

Sadly, looks like the Made in Abyss continuation will be a film, rather than a second season. The movie will cover the Bondrewd arc.

Oh well - still way better than nothing.

I'm not surprised. It would be tough to stretch it out over a full season, but a movie is perfect for pacing. On the other hand, the village arc is still going on with no end in sight, so it would be difficult to move into that right now. Especially considering the uneven scheduling of releases.

I'm curious to see if any punches are pulled though. If they keep Bondrewd mostly intact there's hope they won't feel to shy about the village arc.

Yeah, I was kind of half-expecting it myself but it's still too bad.

I'm also disappointed it's a movie rather than a second season (this happens way too often these days), but it is indeed a lot better than nothing.

Now the long wait begins.

That's going to be a strong contender for the "Most Misleadingly 18 Rated Film" Award. XP

I'd think the point of this being a movie is not to pull any punches with the content, aside from pacing reason.

I myself welcome this considering the arc after is still on-going and seems to be pretty lengthy to be included in a season with Bondrewd's which would make for a tricky adaptation. The movie formats fits nicely for all the good reasons.

Should change the title to Made in Abyss: Fukaki Tamashii no Reimei (Dawn of the Deep Soul) though. Made in Abyss: Tabidachi no Yoake (Journey's Dawn) is the first compilation film.

Amazing OST and I'm betting even more phenomenal on screen. Also, rumbling of scientific triumph actually made it.

The reviews seems to be positive. In yahoo movie japan it has a current audience rating of 4.53 out of 5. But man, R15 rating huh? Wonder how brutal it is. Been a while since i saw a mainstream anime getting that rating

The film grossed 100 million yen over the weekend. But before anyone says it's a flop, it was shown in only 50 theaters. As a comparison Boku no hero debuted in 312.

Well.. the arc is pretty brutal. The rating is pretty much on-point.

There will be four different shorts altogether, and I'm unsure whether they'll get included in the English screenings anyway, so my comments may not be reflective of the version you end up watching.
I think that would cause revolt among many fans. Either way, the film is being well evaluated.

In Japan it has already raised more than 230 million yen, and remembering that it is only being shown in 50 theaters.

The film is great, but man - Tsukushi is seriously twisted. An amazing writer, but seriously twisted.

Sorry, my English is not very good. I wanted to say if by chance the film opened in other countries and you watched it like that.

Well he lives in Japan so I'd be surprised if he went out of his way to do that.
