Be grateful that Disney remade most of those stories for children... Little Mermaid's actual story was bad enough, and you don't want to know the original story behind Sleeping Beauty (which I've found to be the most disturbing out of all of them so far... there's still a few which I don't know the original stories to)

The author is both a trap and a lolicon.

The Italian versions are the disturbing ones.

Disney's only adapted 3 of the Grimm brothers' stories though: The Frog Prince (The Princess and the Frog), Rapunzel (Tangled) and Snow White.

True, but she wasn't in the picture so I decided not to mention her.

Now I feel inclined to post this:

Both characters have madness, but Alice is the only who kicks it's ass, so this picture is appropriate.

Funny enough I read original Little Mermaid as a kid, left me depressed for days.

Having grown up in a different environment of books, my idea of fairy tales as a shota is the Wizard of Oz and A Midsummer's Night Dream. And I am still embarrassed when I told people that the Wizard is a boy instead of him being a midget, as the picture books have shown.

And the picture book of The Nutcracker gave me nightmares. Though as I grew older and watched a recorded play of it, it probably became one of the most beautifully crafted fairytales I have ever read.

Of course, the most horrifying one I read as a kid is still the Red Dancing Shoes. She chopped off her legs and they are bloody red as the shoes and still dancing - truly a recommended read for children everywhere. Though in the modern world of anime, Puella Magi Madoka Magica trumps that with a girl literally having her head bitten off.

Higurashi's repeated self-head stabbing for me.

I think both of us must have broken childhoods to enjoy things like that.

Higurashi doesn't seem to count much as a children's anime.

I expected Madoka to be as cutesy as Pretty Cure with adorable and cuddly lolis, turns out the group of girls consist of an obsessive stalker, a dumb blonde, a psychosis-afflicted lover, a selfish and greedy orphan and the female personification of Jesus. And oh yes, a rabbit-cat insurance agent too.

Looking back as a youth, our generation read lot of stories that would be considered unsuitable for children today. Many of the stories in my youth contained death, blood, morality, and horror. I remember I have to write a story for little kids for a final in high school, but because it had element of death many thought it was unsuitable for kids. I don't know if it is because of nostalgia but I feel like there is lot of dumbing down these days.

What should be "not good for kids" is the extreme stupidity they show on Tv these days.

A very extreme interpretation but then that's how people typically see strangers who don't share their ideals as anyway. I have to wonder if Journey's multiplayer aspect would have been even half as engaging if not for that "feature."

How people look at Pokemon's combat over the years.
Personally, I prefer how it was, much more fun... just take 'em down! :D
