Yeah, but it'd depend on each planet's gravitational field and center of mass. But then again, thinking about the distance between the two planets, you're right; we'd be screwed either way since they'd be too close.
My horrible lack of scientific understanding would warrant a guess that a very irregular orbital path would occur, eventually ending in the Earth crashing directly through Jupiter's atmospheric gases, killing all humanity on Earth.
