Spoiler: Most of the chapter is Levi and his crew getting chased by members of the recon corps with their 3DMG. We get to see some of Levi's considerable skill, but unfortunately Levi and his other two crew members get caught and questioned. In exchange for Levi and his team not getting turned over to the military police for crimes committed Levi is asked to join the Recon Corps. Levi really was a cat in his past life. xD

Spoiler for ch2: Before Levi and his friends, Farlan Church and Isabel Magnolia, were captured, a year ago, Erwin and the current Commander of the Recon Corps, Keith Shadis, faced a problem. Even though Erwin has come up with a plan that will reduce the number of casualties during their expeditions, they have been informed by Supreme Commander Zacklay that an influential noble has convince parliament to stop funding the Recon Corps expeditions. But the decision is later reversed after Erwin "persuades" him. With their funding secured, Erwin is given permission by Zacklay to capture Levi, which Erwin believes Levi's gang and their skills might help the Recon Corps. After arriving at Corps HQ, Levi reveals to Farlan and Isabel that even though he agreed to join the Corps, he's waiting for the right time to kill Erwin. Later that night, Isabel is bullied and beaten which Levi goes and kills the people responsible. The chapter ends with Levi and his gang seeing the night clearly. __________________

And we also learn Levi and the gang purposefully allowed themselves to be captured by the Recon Corps because a noble hired them to steal an important document from Erwin. The next day, the Survey Corps try out Erwin's Scouting Formation which goes fine until heavy rain appears, darkening the sky preventing the rest of the Corps seeing the smoke flares. __________________

Erwin arrives but Levi draws his blade on him, blaming him for his friends death. It turns out Erwin knew Levi's real mission as he actually spread the rumors he got the documents that the nobleman who tried to shut down the Survey Corps was embezzling their funding for his own. Erwin manages to convince Levi to fight so can end the Titans. The chapter ends with Erwin, Mike and Levi leaving to regroup the Survey Corps while Levi gives one last look to his friends. __________________
