Planes and warship I can see getting on, but the poor tanks will be dropped a care package or get blasted by bigger calibur guns.

Their city-ship requires an escort due to alien invasion. Ship-girls at sea with Strike Witch air cover. Tanks only get used if something gets past the other two groups. The carbon armor is all that can keep the girls in the tanks safe.

Or it could be that there is a landing option and tanks are needed. Planes provide support, and ships provide covering fire.

Throw in a bit of Ars Nova and we are set.
