That scene with Ai's parents? IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE WAY LONGER. A super-emotional, tearful reunion where they HUG AND TALK TO EACH OTHER.

Hana Astin embraced Ai. She had the same golden hair and green eyes as her but the expression on her face was completely different. It was the dazzling smile like that of a mischievous child's.

"F-Father! Please cut it out!"
Kizuna Astin roughly tousled her hair, irritating her. This was just too nostalgic and could come from nowhere outside of her own memories.
"Father...."
"Yeah?"
"Mother..."
"Yes, what is it?"
They both answered her. Ai was so overjoyed at this.
"Hnnnnnn!"
"Oh! What's the matter, Ai?"
Ai cried as they both embraced her. Everything was in their arms. Her mother's sweet scent. Her father's scent of cigarettes. Her mother's warmth. Her father's coolness. Her father's and mother's ways of calling to her, gentle voice and stern voice. All of this, before her eyes.
"....have you calmed down?"
"...........no."
"Oh my, such an honest daughter, aren't you?"
Her mother smiled. So happily, like she was enjoying herself.
"Are you both....real?"
"Who knows?"
Her father grinned in a teasing manner.
"Ai, what do you think? Are we real? Or are we fakes?"
".................."
"You can't say, huh? Well, I can tell you. I'm the real thing."
"That's right. By the way, I'll say it too. I'm also real."
"....so."
They suddenly pushed her away.
"FATHER! MOTHER! What!?"
"It's not 'what', you moron. What are you? Are you a fake Ai? All right, let me tell you something. Ai Astin is a girl who came from Hana. She's the one who's gonna save the world."
Kizuna Astin put the hand he had pushed her away with on his hip, grinning.
"Darling, that's going too far."
Hana Astin followed this with pulling on her husband's arm.
"You don't get it. Ai Astin is a girl who would lose to temptation like this. She's actually a very normal girl who easily sheds tears. Whether she's having fun, or happy or sad, she's a girl who cries..."
She knelt and wiped Ai's face. Ai used the hanker-chief to blow her nose.
"But right after that, she recovers quickly, without any doubts!"
".................."
"Go, my daughter. It's a little too early for you to come to Heaven yet."
"Yes."
"Good answer, my girl."
Kizuna Astin grinned.
"Even though it's hell, take care."
"Yes!"
And Ai returned.
Running. From the path away from the village, against all her memories, away from time, not allowing herself to turn around.
"Good-bye...."
She said without looking, leaving behind in her place, a single tear as she ran.]

DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW MUCH I WANTED TO SEE THIS AND CRY AT THIS!? NOW I JUST WANNA CRY IN DISAPPOINTMENT BECAUSE WE'RE NOT GETTING THIS. WHY, DIRECTOR, HOW COULD YOU CUT OUT SOMETHING THIS TOUCHING AND REPLACE IT WITH CHEAP FLASHBACKS!? HOW!?

Don't PM me asking for links to the novel translation...because I only did this part by myself. (I bought vol. 04) As far as I know, they are entirely untranslated. *sob*

Sorry for your loss.. but focusing on Scar was more uplifting and fitted with all the shipping in this episode imo. The last time I saw something like that in an anime was in Clannad.

Personally, I'm glad that scene didn't happen. It reads as something way too cliched for my tastes and would've been really annoying to watch, not heart-wrenching.

The dead are walking the earth...because they cannot rest until a gravekeeper buries them. Ai buried both of those two so....
But yeah, the "space" problem is definitely to be questioned...
On the other hand, Hana may not have been talking about heaven in a literal sense.

I've noticed something this episode. Dee and Scar look really, really alike. I wonder if that has any significance?

So from what I understand of the Scar scenes, she was torn between her duties as a grave-keeper, and her newfound experience as a mother. She left for her duty. The responsibility felt too much. Yuri, being the pimp daddy that he is, offers to help in the responsibility and help in taking care of her. She feels a sense of relief that she does not need to do this alone and accepts because taking care of Celica is what she really wants.

Ok, but what is up with the lightning next to Scar? Was it there to return Scar into an unemotional grave-keeper again? Like a reset button? Was it there to bring her into nothingness? I'm guessing she jumped out of it because she did not want things to change.

The new episode setups the most likely last arc for the anime, it explored on the life behind Alice and his best friend Dee, how she becomes a ghost and whatnot. The prologue really scared me a bit due to the audio department handled as creepy to hear and the fact they wanted to portray such horrific emotions during the scene. The interactions are awesome, and I'm glad the development continues next episode!

Just seeing that town made me ... claustrophobic.
This is the last arc I'm guessing and it's probably going to be my favorite.
Decent show so far, not a favorite, but decent.

I knew it... Dee fell out of the window.. I always had a hunch something bad happened to her, and that it somehow linked to that window. I'm guessing the reason she doesn't have a body is because she's already dead... Her mere existence is kept alive through the imaginary world. Erasing it would also mean erasing Dee..

That's really harsh.. I like Dee. :< I hope she doesn't disappear.

Begs the question though... Does that mean his classmates are also dead? I don't see how falling out of a window is any different than being shot with a gun.
