Mobile Suit Gundam: The Gihren Assassination Plot

I'll just post the stuff regarding Mobile Suit Gundam: The Gihren Assassination Plot. So here it is:

Leopold Fieseler, a detective with the Zeon Public Peace Department/Zeon Public Safety Department is charged with investigating terrorist attacks against Zeon government officials led by an anti-Zabi group called Valkyrie. While researching to find out who were the culprits, Leopold gets into trouble when Valkryie supporters within the ZPPD/ZPSD "arrest" him for getting his hands into classified information to help find out who are the culprits for a planned terrorist attack against Gihren Zabi himself during the One Year War.

It is, considering that a coup from the ranks of the Zeon military against the pro-Zabi government is not something looked at in Gundam UC canon.

Well it sure screams of operation Valkyrie, but with several twists, and a delightful delving into Zeon history and politics.

You gotta love how an amusing weave of political maneuvering and triple-crossing is all foiled by the lulz that is Kycillia shooting Gihren in the final episode.

It's like ending Valkyrie with "Someone put a grenade in Hitler's pants!"

Reminded me much of Stand Alone Complex's first plot. What struck me was that one of the anti-Zabi terrorists was...

Spoiler for SPOILERS:

an ex-Earth Federation officer based in Side 3 who agreed to join Zeon's Republican Guard prior to the blockade. That struck me well when I read it 'cause most Feddies don't want to do anything with them until they acknowledge them to be their rulers.

I already read the ending and some of you were right, it was a lot of LOL... considering that

Gihren died before the Valkyries can off his ass.

The ending wasn't bad though, but it seemed that it needed more substance IMO. Nice to see most of the character get some closure at least.

Expect a better version of said manga series from us in the very near future One that will make a bit more sense :P

The only good thing from this manga is a closer look at Ghiren's long ignored secretary and her adorable assistant.

*sigh* If you check our Twitter feed, you'll notice that I make updates about projects. :/

And I've already had the Gihren manga translated for quite some time. I'm merely making a complete photoshopping of it (aka translated sound effects and what not), so it's taking a lot of freaking time to do. Nonetheless, I believe that Volume.01 will be a huge labor of love.

My first thought was that this is UC version of the July 20th Assassination plot against Hitler, however it appears however I could be wrong

Gundam's expanded universe has been pretty sweet lately. I think it functions a lot like Star Wars expanded universe where the authors play off of past works and the plot lines they fleshed out to in turn do their own thing. At this point in time the One Year War has a pretty rich history beyond the initial TV Series/Movies that you'll only know about if you've read the expanded universe stuff. Unfortunately it seems most of it still centers around Zeon and not enough around the Earth Federation side.

I'm about to read the first volume of the MSG novel, I hope one day in the future they'll animate the expanded universe series like CDA, Gihren assasination plot (assuming there's enough MS action, I haven't read it yet), and also Gundam Sentinel.

Agreed. I wish there was more material that discussed the inner workings of the Feddies. Especially when you think of all the changes it underwent after the OYW.
