IN other news, the OP for TTT Gaiden - Avalon no Nazo is up, I'd post it here but since it includes a small spoiler (it doesn't reference the anime directly but people may understand it) I'm asking first if I can under spoiler tags, I wouldn't call a "future event" but for some it may be. True, but showing the emperor's skeletal remains would've had a greater impact had he figured as a prominent character in the show and as it stands, he has not been shown at all.

You have a point. On the other hand, I figured he's been dead since before the series started and that his reign has been a sham for some time now.

In the game he's actually shown a few times in the shadows while the white guy speaks, so his appearance as he is in the game isn't exactly out of the blue.

Episode 25 review!

The White Angel reveals to the Heroes that the dead man was the Emperor & how a long time ago he was a mentor to the young Emperor but as the Emperor grew older, he began to fear his mortality & try to find many ways to live longer & gain immortality including building the Tower so the White Angel kill him.

Arwan & the Angel greet each other rudely & Ogam tells everyone he's one of the 12 White Angels of Heaven & the man who kill Arthur's father. Arthur immediately goes after him & ask why did he kill his father. The Angel smugly reveals that Arthur's father refuse to tell him where was Arwan's tomb was since his father knew the Angel wanted to kill Arwan b4 his resurrection so the angel use another plan, mind control Arthur to kill Arwan during the events of episode 15 but he regrets that Arthur didn't kill Arwan as he plan. Arthur is no longer fool by his tricks & lies & starts to use his sword to destroy whatever illusions he's using. Even he miss hitting the angel, the Garden changes to reveal it's true form: an empty, dark, Garden filled with Skeletons.

The angel reveals even though he lost the Obelisk & the Cauldron, he has another weapon from Heaven, The Eternal Flame. After opening a portal between Heaven & Earth inside the tower, he tells them once the portal is stable, the Flame will Burn the world into Ashes so the Angels can continue to rule the world & create what they see as the Perfect beings as they see the current world is unworthy to live. Arwan tells him what right he has to decide the destruction of this world since the people of the earth deserve the right to live their lives freely but he smugly tells them they don't decide as only the Angels decide who lives & dies & the Angels want the current world to destroy & theirs nothing the Heroes can do about it.

Realizing they have to stop him, the Heroes fight their way to him against the Skeletons who have risen up to fight them. As they finally reach him, everyone tries to hit him but he constantly dodges their attacks or uses his magic to blow them away. Arthur, despite being him by his spells many times, still continues to try to hit him for the sake of everyone & the world. The Angel arrogantly mocks Arthur's attempts to hit him as useless as he continues to dodge them. But when Arthur finally scratch his cheek, he goes insane as he can't believe a mere human has manage to hit him since he's more powerful than them. Ogam tells him, it was due to his arrogance & overconfidence that made him underestimated Arthur.

From the portal, a giant blue flame burns the center of the Garden destroying the Skeletons. Out of the ground comes the weapon that will destroy the world, Merkadis. Merkadis is in fact a Giant Dinosaur, that was use by the Angels to destroy the world & is in fact the creature that kill Arwan 1000 years ago. Arwan is surprises since he thought he killed it last time, & the Angel, now gone mad, tells Merkadis to eat him so it may use his power to become powerful & destroy the world. As the creature burns the angel with it's Blue flame & swallowing him, Merkadis mutates & becomes bigger to the point the floor the Heroes are standing at breaks & all of them fall down.

But to Riannon surprises who finally regains conscience with Arwan beside her, she finds out everyone was rescued by Dragons lead by none other than Taelsin! As they escape from the falling tower, the tower transform to become part of Merkadis which has now become a giant Eldrtich Abomination.

But I expected more of a combat between the white angel and Arwan/Arthur. But all they could do was put a scratch on the bastard's face

Yes! Taliesin is back and the white phantom was a total wuss. Interestingly, Arawn had to give up his life to defeat Merkadis the last time. I wonder what'll happen this time around.

The white guy name, probably not his real name, but he gets called like that in the game (in the anime, I think Octavia barely mentions the name, in the game it's Ogam that calls him like that). And yes, only 26 episodes. They've covered almost all the game now.
Also, if you check now episode 2, the flashback there showed Merkadis, that actually looked like its game counterpart.

That white Angel did mention that he had Arthur under mind control. So, Arthur did not try to kill Awran on purpose, he was being controlled by that freak

Was it really mind control? I thought he simply altered Arthur's memory of the incident to make him believe it was Arawn who killed his dad.

It succeeded in having a dramatic atmosphere, but the overall development... wasn't so exciting. The angel proved to be a shallow boss, going crazy over getting scratched (where have I seen this before), only to get killed by his own summon (who would have thought), and now everyone has to face a super gigantic beast. Yeah... It's been a while since I've seen the other members of the tribe... I thought they had all died or something... Preview: Za... Spoiler for PS3 anime comparison episode 25: Rector does a similar speech, but as far as I remember there's no gate to the sky, and he randomly teleports around. Like in the anime, the garden reveals its true nature, but you could see the bones and skulls even earlier as they were shown in previous scenes. There's no sense of superiority here, it's a boss aided by fallen Empire soldiers (no skeletons), and it's rather weak. He goes crazy after he's defeated and not just because he received a minor wound. He then summons Merkadis which is completely different and frankly I didn't understand why they changed its design. Also you fight it directly where Rector stood or so no tower or anything. And Taliesin appeared later. Can't say more till the anime has ended.
