I have a plot bunny guys, tell me what you think.

Basically, the premise is that the middle east revolution (which happened in real life) never happened, and due to the invention of the IS, successful rebellions are effectively impossible. A rebel leader hired the main character, a Sociopath/Psychopath as well as commander of a rogue paramilitary organization, in order to help him rebel against the dictatorial status quo and advance the middle east region. The fanfic details how the main character finds tactics and strategies to beat a far more powerful force equipped with IS units.

I had a similar concept before written as the fanfic Resurgence, but I abandoned that story because the main character's personality and abilities (easily planning out counters to IS units) seem too Stu. Another difference is that there wont be any parallel dimensions stuff in this Fanfic. This will all be based on IS verse.

Personality Traits: Highly Functioning Sociopathy/Psychopathy, Manipulative, Persistent, Predatory, Charming, Cold, Calculating, Impulsive, Lack of Remorse or Empathy, Deceptive, Pathological Lying, Irresponsibility.

Abilities: Highly accurate, flexible, mental modeling, capable of simulating other people’s emotional reactions to a given stimulus with near perfect accuracy, despite not being able to truly feel the emotion himself. Also capable of predicting other people’s strategic reactions at varying degrees of accuracy, usually depending on how much information he has on the person himself.

Background: Born in Poland, 2018, he was orphaned at the age of five when his parents got killed in a car accident. Before his parents’ accident, he was homeschooled and did not have a lot of friends. Unbeknownst to anyone at the time, Lukasz is a highly functioning sociopath, and was the cause of the car accident the first place. He did it in an attempt to ‘feel’ remorse and guilt, to try to feel something other than emptiness. When his parents died and he felt nothing, he assumed that everyone must have felt the same. In his parents’ funeral, when he observed everyone crying and wailing, he did not understand why everyone was acting in such a way. “Everyone must be acting, putting on a show,” he thought at first. He was put in an orphanage a week after his parents died. In the orphanage, he continued observing people, both his peers and his supervisors.

Somewhere between the age five and seven, he realized that the way people act is not for show after all. He realized that he is fundamentally different from others, that he had to act like others while others acted like themselves. His innate curiosity and intelligence led him to discover ASPD and its sub-type, sociopathy. Putting two and two together, he concluded that he is a sociopath. Three weeks after his seventh birthday, a psych evaluation concluded that he is one of the most stable and well adjusted children in Poland, completely missing his true self. His perceived stability attracted the attention of the US Department of Defense, who wanted a collection of highly stable children to train as future commanders of war. He was then given to SHADOWCROWN, a secretive sector in the USDOD whose main job is to psychologically mold children into master strategists and tacticians capable of simulating another person’s mind inside their own with near perfect accuracy, under the guise of an adoption. This happened at 2025.

He excelled in his curriculum, which despite requiring a heavy dose of empathy to actually simulate another person’s mind, could be somewhat circumvented with his own version of emotional modeling. A relatively recent report by one know as the PSYCHBROKER suggests that instead of activating mirror neurons in his brain that simulate the reactions of a given individual, he instead constructed a mental model of how people react to given stimulus. The PSYCHBROKER suggests that by observing the reactions of those in the SHADOWCROWN academy and by noting how the source of those reactions, Lukasz has somehow made a working model of how people tend to react to given situations. He also suggests that Lukasz had further refined, and is still refining, his model by cross referencing the reactions and stimulus of many different people from many different backgrounds, and the SC academy students who come from all parts of the world have added more variables to his model, allowing him to refine it further. Traditional empathy is limited by the different backgrounds of different people, it is much harder to empathize with people of different values, culture, or even race, than it is with those of the same. Lukasz’s mental model does not have this limitation; he simply adds a corrective value in his model when needed. For Lukasz, different cultures, values, or race are not strange or counterintuitive for him, it is just another correction to add in his model. The PSYCHBROKER, whoever he or she is, died in 2032, two days after his or her report was released. Cause of death remains unknown.

At 2026, Christopher Fairs, a famous military general and the father of Natasha Fairs, decided to adopt him, seeing his great potential. His newfound sister, Natasha, was reportedly fond of him and frequently visited him at the Academy. At 2026, he has completed his curriculum other students would complete in three more years. At this time, he asked for permission from the SC Academy to attend university early. His permission was denied, but as a compromise he was allowed to take as many online course he wants, all paid by SHADOWCROWN. At 2029, he got his online PHD on Cognitive Psychology. In the same year, his supervisor committed suicide. It was found that the supervisor committed suicide after receiving e-mails, text messages, letters, and even post-its detailing his flaws and mocking the state of his family. These literary trails are tracked back to none other than Lukasz himself. It is then that Lukasz was found out to be a sociopath. Lukasz escaped the SC Academy unharmed that year after a failed attempt at liquidating him. At 2030, SHADOWCROWN attempted to liquidate him again. This too, failed, although this time he lost both of his legs. He was last seen on 2033 with former Navy Seal now mercenary Armando Rodriguez, speaking with rebel leader Aali Abd-al-Aziz in Cairo, Egypt.

Psych Evaluation:
• Exhibits traits of both Psychopathy and Sociopathy. His time in the academy shows him to be very smooth talking, capable of meticulous planning, and capable of maintaining normal relationships, hallmarks of Psychopathic behavior. Like a perfect Psychopath, he does not have any default temperament; his displayed personality is very flexible without any actual trace of his true personality, although in extremely rare occasions he does slip up. Unlike Psychopaths however, his method of operation in both crimes and strategic planning is rarely organized nor patterned in any way (which indeed are how Sociopaths usually operate), although like Psychopaths he does not leave any evidence or clue as to his modus operandi. People who are close to him tend to be relentlessly manipulated, a trait Psychopaths have, yet despite his lack of emotional attachments he seems to instinctually protect those who are close to him, a trait Sociopaths have. Final analysis suggests that he was actually born a Psychopath, but by learning through both experience and observation, decides that some Sociopathic traits are beneficial for him.

Notes:
• All US military personnel are to either flee or shoot him on sight.
• He was the best student the SHADOWCROWN project had to offer.
• One of the wargames he participated in resulted in him massacring an entire US carrier group with a few luxury and speed boats, some missile launchers, and a few cruise missiles.
• The wargame was restarted, and the ‘marines’ allowed to land on the beach he was supposed to defend. This time, he used ‘suicide snipers’ to shoot off the marines carrying any form of missile weaponry, and followed by a deploying hundreds of armored jeeps packed with explosives driven to ram the enemy and explode when immobilized.
• Another notable wargame involved him using a conventional force facing of a squad of IS units. He lost by a slim margin, but his tactics were notable nonetheless. He packed his F-22 raptors full of fuel tanks instead of missiles, drove them in groups of twenty at the IS squad formation, and detonated them via ground launched STA missiles, turning the F-22 raptors into makeshift high-performance fuel-air missiles.

So far so good, but even the best tactician has to face the same damn conclusion: you are going to sacrifice a lot of resources, be it people or weaponry. Most of the time, it's not cost efficient either.

EDIT: finally got my answer, its seems that Chemical laser has weakness in terms of logistic and waste chemical hazard, where solid-state laser has output inefficiency and waste heat problem. :|

I'm pretty sure in the notes at the end I included the fact that he used (in a wargame) suicide tactics. As in, using F-22 fighter jets as fuel air bombs while not giving a damn about the pilots.

Well, I'm trying to portray Lukasz realistically, here. I actually did research on Psychopathy and Sociopathy, and I even read snippets from sociopaths themselves (although I have no way of confirming that they are really sociopaths and not just faking it). Apparently, Psychopaths cannot feel emotions the same way humans do. They can easily feel negative emotions when it concerns themselves, and perhaps feel some shallow positive ones. But concerning others, they cannot be happy or sad about them, at least for highly psychopathic individuals.

I intend to subvert the Jerk With a Hidden Heart of Gold trope... as well as Love Redeems and most of those wacky tropes with no psychological basis whatsoever.

The funny thing about facing IS units is that there is no reliable way in increasing the supply of IS units. So, destroying even ONE IS unit is like permanently capping the maximum military power of a country. The theoretical cost of one IS core is theoretically, well, infinite. It's called Replacement Value, an economic concept. The Replacement Value of an IS Core is infinite, there is no damn way you can get another one. Theoretically, you can waste a hundred thousand aircraft carriers to take down a single IS, and it's still a good trade-off, since the supply of IS units for each country is fixed (except for Japan, since they have Tabane).

I.S. core also virtually indestructible, even other I.S. need massive, concentrated firepower do destroy that. Even assuming each frame is 1 billion each, you still need >2 billion to take out one frame and the core might be recovered anyway, to be used again.

Yes, I.S. are disposable, the cores are not, but it's hard to destroy the core. And no, money wasn't the only problem, but also building time and manpower required. Take this 1 billion I.S. and this 1 billion aircraft carrier, which one is more precious? Aircraft carrier of course, because you need extensive amount of materials and manpower to build that.

OTOH, recovering that core and then use it yourself.... is a brilliant idea

And the IS Cores... well, no matter how hard they are to destroy, if they CAN be destroyed, and if their supply is fixed, their Replacement Value is still infinite. The key here is the fixed supply. As long as the supply is fixed, it does not matter how much money it takes to destroy an IS Core, because the value of the IS Core is still infinite. You just cannot replace an IS Core.

Although you're right, using the IS Core instead of destroying it makes more economic sense, unless the IS Core gets recaptured.

Does the Alien Aspect come into play at all?

Yes, as much as canon does, a little more seriously, but not enough to make it grimdark.

Scenes such as alien invasion and war is present, but again, it's very small part. Everything else just about Character X beats Character Y for Z reason. Duel decides everything indeed.

The protagonist took the 'sexual assault' issue more than anything else. Since almost half of them are sexually insecure.

Such as Len and Sasuga-sensei doing a 'white torture' to Lacospo (the short, Pilaf-lookalike alien dude with giant toad). White torture is just that, a light, but long term torture session that doesn't leave any mark. More like endurance test than anything.

Even funnier is the scene before Rito beat the crap out of Ghi Bree (The shapeshifting cell-inspired dude) for molesting Haruna. Rito just stared at him... and Ghi Bree breaks down in tears in fear of what could happen. Of course, when Haruna regained her consciousness... she promise that she won't tell anyone that that Rito leaves very little mercy during the capturing process. (yes, Haruna's patience has limit )

I.S. are the only thing keeping the major alien invasion at bay. The minor one could be handled by military just fine. This is the reason United Nations has their own military force, included in them is 300 I.S. unit (unlike in Canon, there are more than 2000 cores in this story), and war against Alien doesn't affected by Alaska Treaty.

Gid? Hardly a nobleman, but not so much immoral as he DOESN'T subscribe to values of humanity at all due to cultural difference. Deviluke, while large, is not invincible. In fact, Gid fail to conquer the milky way mostly due to his force spread too thin, allowing rival faction from another galaxy to attack.

As the result of this, those survived from Deviluke conquest forming an alliance called "Outer Borders", Earth was a member of this organization. Deviluke can't spare enough power to seize this alliance at all, which is the very reason of why people in Earth is mostly clueless about interstellar war that tear the galaxy asunder.
