I really hate this type of plot twist... I may have to drop this series for the next couple chapters until I know he didn't suffer brain damage.
I get the feeling that serious brain damage is a possibility with how much foreshadowing there has been. Take Ippo's mother for instance. She never goes to see any of his fights because she doesn't want to see him get hurt. It's negligence if anything, and she's only been looking away so far. What happens though when Ippo comes back SERIOUSLY hurt? I see that turning into some big drama which I don't want to see. I also get the feeling this series will go on for another 1000 chapters... We have so many loose ends for Ippo to resolve by himself. That's not even taking into consideration all of his fellow gym mates who have their own stuff going on. I'm actually worried that the author will die before he finishes the series. |

It's competition what can you say.
He's not going to heft Ippo and carry him home. In that sense our victor was very cool, not harming Ippo's pride any more. Also really liked how there wasn't any drama on the map. Ippo doesn't make a show, it's just a loss.... It makes it that more real and that more biting portrayal of a defeat .
