What I recommend to you!
I have watched many animes and I know what makes a great anime.
Here is a list with reasons why you should watch these animes 1. Welcome to NHK This is an absolute must watch anime. This anime is basically about some of the anime watchers and their isolation problem. It takes somewhat of a light note of it and turns it into something hopeful. A powerful anime that shows seriousness with a fair blend of comedy that would make any anime watcher laugh. U MUST WATCH 2. Kaiji This anime is very fun to watch. You just want to keep watching it because of its thriller aspect and suspense. It brings a great view on life at the ending. It's very entertaining and it is well worth a watch. 3. Naruto (eps 1 to 100 or so) You must watch naruto. I know this is mainstream and you've all watched it but this anime brings so much life into the characters. There are so many characters in this anime, I found it hard to believe that the kishimoto didn't forget them along the way. u just have to watch it feel free to add to my list or argue/add to current suggestions

Fair enough, ill share with you 2 Not so hidden gems.
Hitsuji no Uta: Unique take on vampirism, dark atmosphere and slow paced but well done story. Denpa Teki na Kanojo: Great character development, good story so far, interesting characters, puzzling episodes which will keep u guessing till the end. To be honest with you i saw Welcome to the nhk and kaiji on your list and thought cool they r both animes with unique elements and are great. Then i saw Naruto, a mediocre shounen, and was dissapointed. Well the idea of suggesting some shows to others is pretty nice in theory but will absolutely fail in practice. The reason for it is simple:
Your taste =/= my taste. There are so many anime watchers out there and while it's common for people to have a similar taste for a certain genre(s) most of them will have their own preferences and ideas about what series are epic, awesome, moe, cute, interesting, bad, trash and so on. There are series that are widely accepted as good let's say a slice of life show will be quite boring for someone who is much more into the action and thriller genre. Of course I'm not saying that this is the absolute truth which is correct in every case, just a note to illustrate my point. Sure you can suggest WttNHK, Kaiji, Naruto but that's just three shows out of who knows how many and all of them are in absolutely different genres so there will always be people who will simply prefer other series. Even with a list like that of roriconfan, which is quite solid (and very huge) the majority will be all over show A, liking show B while disliking C and hating on D. A/B/C/D will vary from person to person. Let me use your quote as an example of why threads like this don't work: Well you see, even though I didn't count the exact number the amount of shows on that list is probably more than I have seen in my entire anime 'career' and seeing how I have seen/read less than 5% of them to me the list is incredibly huge. On the other hand you who (my guess) has been into anime quite a bit longer and has already seen most of them the list looks much smaller. |

I was more referring to how all anime put together are a drop in the ocean before the number of movies and series an average viewer watches.
I also had this Best of the Best in each category topic some time back. The latest results are in my post in the spoiler tag. http://forums.animesuki.com/showthre...t=86497&page=4 How is that for top recommendations? |
