Glad I didn't pay full price for this game.

About an hour and a half into the Campaign. Some interesting sections but just your standard "shoot this, shoot that" fan fare.

And my God these graphics suck.

COD is all about online anyway. At least it's fun and not so frustrating as Trackn'Field 3

Famitsu gave the game 39/40.

Please remember to post important information in spoiler tags for those that have played multiplayer first instead of campaign... But yeah, all of the CoD games are about multiplayer while the singleplayer is just there to make the game look like it has story. About to play Call of Duty Modern Warfare III myself in a few minutes.

Well, there are some historical inaccuracies in minor/major parts of previous CoD games. But they never intended it to be 100% historically accurate in the first place so I'm fine with the few mistakes. I enjoy the story myself (Black Ops made me rage a little during the Vietnam War on Veteran though. Even though Black Ops is a standalone sequel to the CoD series). But hoping to see where the story will pick off from Modern Warfare II.

Right now, I'm actually wanting to play the campaign more than the MP and Spec Ops. But I won't get this game for a while.

I thought Modern Warfare 2's big saving grace was the Spec Ops missions. Y'know, a chance to step away from all the online quickscoping and bullet soaking your character will be doing in the single player/online games. And they say Call of Duty games are the most realistic ever. xD

I'd even put the first Operation Flashpoint as "more realistic", despite the worse textures and stuff. Anyways, the stories ARE quite fun little experiences, but they're really one-shot deals, with the lasting multiplayer (that hopefully doesn't require a new gimmick exploit to master to even compete) offering a lasting experience afterwards. I really do enjoy the online in Black Ops since I can actually do good or bad depending on how I can manipulate a tricky situation to my favour. Modern Warfare 2 requires a different sort of tactical approach, which was quite entertaining as well.

The stories do...decently well in portraying truth. Nova did cause quick death with necrosis and other horrendous effects, but it's shown as a yellow-ish colour in the game, whilst the real thing started off green in the hands of the Nazis, in which it turned orange in its most potent form in the hands of the Russians. Either way, they probably want to avoid copying history but also want to avoid contradictions as well, so you'll see a few "what was that?" moments for sure.

I'm glad I didn't buy it at all. I mean, I expected it to be exactly the same as MW2, and hey, I was right.

The only differences I have seen is this guy throwing some sort of mini mine.

Hint: Take a break from Call of Duty games, then instead of buying a new one eachy year, save your money and play the oldest one you own, take a break, play the next, take a break, repeat. Really simple, it saves you money and encourages creativity in the industry.

This is a good suggestion. I co-purchased Black Ops with my roommate and I borrow his Modern Warfare 2 once in a while to play. Switching between those two has been more than I need for a long, long time.

you must be joking mate

pretty sure this is the highest first-day sales in the history of the industry

Skyrim is great, but sales-wise it's far from this tier

doubtful even it's lifetime sales will be this high

this is simply a matter of genre + insane CoD hype (& previous games)

I'm honestly surprised there is still interest in the franchise, no offence to consumers, but do you seriously know what you're buying?

it's has a very blockbustery SP and fun & addictive MP

I know BF3 has graphics (for which I don't have the PC), bigger maps, vehicles and stuff, but both BF BC2 and BF3 beta seemed more boring and less fun to me then CoD MP .. you spawn somewhere and spend a whole lot of time getting to where the action is

also, it (BF) shines mostly in team-play, but I play solo with randoms, where the hell am I gonna get a tight team ? Join a guild ? ^^

CoD is perfect for fast firefight'y lone wolf run-and-gun fun, which is exactly what I want from MP in a shooter

that said, I'd drop both BF and CoD in a heartbeat for ~UT4 or UT2012 .. you get the idea
