Read first, please.

I don't know if this is the proper place to have this thread, but here it goes...

Are there any anime fans who watch the NHL out there?

Watching both animes and the NHL has got me into thinking of something; Ice Hockey teams comprising of anime characters.

If you were to put a team(s) together, who would be on what team?

I got some in mind but they have some "requirements". (Only applies to my teams).

Spoiler for My Requirements:

These are the requirements for the team(s) that I have in mind.

You don't have to follow these requirements. How you want to make your team(s) is entirely up to you.

It's your teams(s). You can make them however you want. But please, state the name of the anime series of where the characters are from. And the team's Home Arena.

Now to get things started, here's one team I thought of.

Positions:
[F] - Forwards
[D] - Defense
[G] - Goal Tenders

Home Arena: The American Airlines Center

The reason why I have the American Airlines Center as the Funimation team's home arena is beacause Funimation's based in the Dallas area, and the American Airlines Center is in Dallas, Texas.

Also, keep in mind that how they'll play will be much like the NHL.

I'll play along... but I don't follow North American licensors very closely. So I'll make teams based on animation studio. I'm also going to list the lineups the way they do on pro hockey message boards.

Team KyoAni (female):

I think that would be a pretty good team. Could be a lot of fun.

I'll try to come up with Team SHAFT later.

It's your team, you make it however you want.

You're going by animation studio, I'm going by North American Licensors. I already have one in mind for Aniplex USA, but looking at their list of animes, I'll just say that they're short on players if it's Aniplex USA alone.

Although, Bandai Entertainment recently shut down. So maybe I'll have characters from Bandai Entertainment's animes on Aniplex USA's teams. Like a merge.

They're both in the Los Angeles area, Aniplex USA being in Santa Monica, L.A. County and Bandai Entertainment formally based in Cypress, Orange County (southeast of L.A.)

One thing's for sure is that the Aniplex USA team's Home Arena will be the Staples Center.

And what's going to be the home arena for you team(s)?

Oh my God, that sounds quite fun.

I always had a thing or two for the The Ocean Group/Ocean Studios dubbing team. That wouldn't be hockey without some Canadian touch in it

. Since I'm more into these guys, here's my take:

I would have given the Bell Centre in Montreal if I wanted to, but I honor the Vancouver people working in the studios. For Mikado, it's mostly his Russian style of skating that gave me the nod for him. For my choices in the captaincy, those 3 guys ooze so much charisma that it's hard to get by them.

The Girls' team will come later.

Well, since they're based on Kyoto Animation, I guess their Home Arena would be... in Kyoto, Japan.

But no, seriously, as a Habs fan, I'll make their home arena the Bell Centre in Montreal.

The logic behind my team is in the spoiler space below...

Spoiler for The Haruhi Habs:

Haruhi and Yuki Nagato are actual superhumans (to put it mildly). 1st Line Center and Starting Goalie are probably the two most important roles on a hockey team, so I gave it to them. Plus Haruhi has a huge ego and would likely settle for nothing less than being "the Gretzky" of her team.

Nagato has the perfect personality for a goalie.

Haruhi's wingers should be tough, fast, and athletic. They need to be to keep up with her and give us a dynamic first line. Kaname fits the bill, and Tomoyo is ridiculously strong and fast.

Konata is a big Haruhi fan, and will likely try to emulate her. Since Haruhi is the 1st line center, let Konata be the 2nd line center. Kagami is tsundere for Konata so if Konata razzes her a bit over a bad play it'll get their line flying.

The fast and lethal Mai nicely rounds out the 2nd line.

The third line is all-Chuunibyou, so I'm hoping that'll give the line good chemistry. Shiinka is the tallest, so she's the center. For some reason, I think she'd be good at winning draws. Dekomari's hair tricks makes me think she might be a good dangler, someone dangerous in short spurts. Dekomari and Rikka are best friends so they'll stick up for each other. Good to have them on the same line.

Similar thoughts with Azusa between the Hirasawa sisters. I doubt they'd be all that good at hockey, but they're all very high energy people. I like my 4th line to be a high-energy line, and hopefully this line will deliver that.

With D pairs, I aimed for best friend and/or sibling pairings. So Kyou and Ryou for one pairing, Mio and Ritsu for the next, and Mayaka and Chitanda for the last. Kyou, Ritsu, and Mayaka are all tough-minded and competitive people. Good for stay-at-home shutdown D. Kyou would probably have a great slapshot from the point for powerplays. I could see Ryou, Mio, and Chitanda being good, creative offensive defensemen.

Tsuruya has a good personality for a backup goalie, and I just have a hunch she'd play the position pretty well.

Irisu is a very results-oriented person, and I'm 100% confident that she'll put the good of the team ahead of the ego of any lone player... and given the ego of some of these players, that's important.

I'll try to get Team SHAFT finalized soon.

Whoa, nothing but Fairy Tail characters...

Vast majority of the team are from that specific guild. The standouts though are Hibiki and Ren from Blue Pegasus, and Jura from Lamia Scale. With the Celestrial Spirits aside. With Fairy Tail having a huge cast alone, it's very easy to put a team together.

Unlike how I have Aniplex USA's teams arrange. These two teams are the hardest for me to put together so far because of Aniplex USA's short list of Licensed anime titles.

Yeah, when first seeing this thread really wanted to try and build an entire team from one series. Might have been a stretch to only use characters from the one guild, but spreading out a bit made it work.

You could've used the minor characters in the Fairy Tail guild, but then again, what major role do they have in the series?

Most of those girls are already good at sports or in good physical shape, except perhaps for one or two ATM. Hence the reason why I didn't include a few names that some people would expect to see. For captaincy, Murrue and Natarle were obvious choices. However, I felt that having Revy as your energy girl among the leaders was a good idea. Roberta (Black Lagoon) as a D... well, she's probably the strongest physically of the bunch and she deck some people at the blue line. Lucreia Noin... mostly cool-headed, perfect to be a goalie. And with a good partnership with Sally, there you have your 2 goalies. Miss Balalaika as a head coach... a very imposing figure of a woman with an old-school Soviet approach. Meanwhile, Kati Mannequin is just a natural at coaching powerplay tactics by her more attacking approach while Sumeragi is more defensive for the PK. For those who may not remember who Yukari is, she is Hitomi's best friend and she also happens to be manager of the track & field club in Escaflowne. @Triple R: good to see a fellow Habs fan here. Spoiler for Team Rationale: Ok this was actually pretty fun to figure out. I give credit to Fairy Tail for having a large enough cast to pull this off. I could actually visualize all these characters without having to look anyone up . Anyways wanted a hilarious top line for this team. I think Laxus has enough respect to pull off leadership for the team. Should be enough aggressiveness and talent to make that line work. Gave Gildarts the second line because he just seems like the type to be the best player or invisible . Kind of feels like he'd go missing at times . Regardless, figured Gray and Lyon have good background that would let them work together easily enough. Figured Alzack could be the sniper of the third line......But anyways, a speedy group who have toughness. Could hold their own against whatever comes their way. Just a complete focus on toughness for the fourth line. Figure they can just crash into everyone and wear the opposition down . I thought the idea of that top pairing was hilarious . Bickslow and Freed should be a strong duo all things considered. And well I figured Blue Pegasus could handle the weaker minutes on the blueline. In terms of goalies I thought Jura just made perfect sense. Seemed like a solid goalie with good positioning. For some reason I thought Max just fit as the backup goalie. The guy you'd rarely ever play and might forget about until he got a start . With the staff figured I could get the female characters in at last. Makarov of course would be head coach and Mirajane would be a reliable assistant. Erza would scare her team into playing well, or else they'd see more "kill" on the penalty kill .
