I think you're confusing the director and the character. XD

I dun really know about the helmet either. Maybe there's a reason for it, maybe there isn't... but heck, for some reason it makes her look adorable, and that's all that matters to me!

It's actually one of the things that make her looks...absolutely adorable

The helmet definitely makes her so moe....I think it's the same with Nadeko wearing the cap.
