I remember when 00 was first announced. I don't recall any particular negative sentiments toward it, but I believe the consensus at the time was that 00 would be eclipsed/overshadowed by its more (in)famous cousin, SEED/DESTINY (at least thats what I get from the Japanese side).

Hell, the general feeling at the time was pretty lukewarm, certainly nowhere near the hostility that people are having now against AGE...

00's general lack of hostility when it was first announced was probably due to the fact everyone would accept anything that would be better than Destiny. It did get it's share of flak over the new Gundam designs, though.

But when season 2 came out, the typical hostility returned, setting us back into the cycle...
