First episode is out on Crunchyroll.
This kinda reminds me of Sentai shows with the mecha gimmicks and style of storytelling. It's actually quite colorful in terms of animation quality though. The episode explored sci-fi content and I'm kinda impressed by the world building. Then, there's the actual fighting especially in the last few minutes of the episode. A very catchy song they used for the fight between the mecha and that monster! I felt like the episode was pretty stylish with action heroes and mecha combat. Not sure how I feel about the characters yet until they develop more. But so far, this series has my attention. Glad to see more mecha this season.

Insert cyber samurai defense force, or I think that was the title, theme song here. Seriously, there's an evil black mech telling a guy to make monsters for him through a computer screen. Not that its a bad thing, mind you.
Right now this seems like a sentai show in anime form, which is good enough on its own to keep it interesting, but I do wonder where things will go from here, especially when it comes to characters, because so far Rikka and Akane seems like the ones with the most potential. Anyways, I haven't been into sentai shows much in a while, but precisely for that I think this could be worth a shot. Also, whoever designed Rikka deserves a thumbs up. Oh, and not gonna lie, seeing a giant monster brought power rangers memories back. That helped. ...yeah, I'm just gonna let someone else mention THAT part. |

Wasn't really impressed. What was going on with the weird pauses all over the place? Also some weird skips, I thought something was going on with the buffering or so.... Not sure if they were intended or just production problems...
So far this seems pretty uninteresting to me but I'll give it some more time to develop to see if it becomes more interesting. |

Only thing that impressed me in this premiere was the fact the Kaiju did so much damage to the city and therefore killed tons of people, but apparently everything was restored to normal the next day.
A bit of a boring beginning. Not a fan of the amnesia plot, but I guess it could lead to some interesting reveals. The fight itself was pretty good. I'll watch a few more eps.

Having mixed feelings on this one: On one hand, Yay Gridman! It's been years for me. On the other: Amnesia plot is almost always poorly done so I'm having doubts.
Also Gridman is red and silver, why did they make him purple? Plus, God Zenon when?

I think the first episode is pretty nice and entertaining. The low-key execution at the start works in building the interest. It didn't bore me at any point during the episode which is good. It helps that the visuals and animation were easy on the eyes too. And yes, in a way, this is like watching the old Gridman toku-show again, but with a little twist. Btw, the shadowy kaiju that's just stand there and not moving is really ominous. It's like Godzilla in Shin Godzilla when it hibernates to restore its power.

I wonder if they also restored Tonkawa (ball girl who hit Akane's hand) given the blast seemed to directly hit her, or if the people who died during the Kaiju attack are forgotten about by everyone other then our trio who connected with Gridman.

The next episode will be interesting just to see how far this restoration went. Did it just fix the buildings or did it also revive the people who must have died in all that chaos? I don't feel as if they would just focus on that one girl before the explosion if all is well and good the next day. But we'll see.
Not a bad start

also did this series just take a jab an the Ultraman series with the oh so true reference? i guess Tsuburaya is also poking fun at their own franchise, it seems the Ultra series is just fiction in this universe. |

While the bulk of the episode didn't really do anything outside simply making me curious, I have to say it kind of drew me in at the "GO! GRIDMAN!" part after which our hero saves the day.
I don't know, I know it's a cliché, but I guess I am just a sucker for these kinds of things. |
