This episode wasn't Endless Eight...that's it's most distinguishing feature I guess. It was a bit different when I watched the first season since I hadn't read the novels at that time. One of the things I thought of during one of those longs blocks of dialogue was, I wonder if they ever thought of making Haruhi as a live action show. When you think about it, it would probably be a lot cheaper...but then again, maybe the larger-than-life quality of Haruhi herself is just not amenable to live action...

I wonder if I would have noticed any real difference in the drawing style if it hadn't been pointed out here. With a show like Haruhi at least, which is more dialogue heavy compared to the other anime I watch, I tend not to be as focused on it, not least because I'm reading the subtitles. I probably would have been indifferent if I hadn't read about it, but since I have it kind of bugs me.

Anyway, 7/10. A little slow, a little over-talky, but overall not bad.

Three... most of the posts in the later E8 threads were either "I hate this, Kadokawa/KyoAni sucks" or {insert stock response here}.
Also, there's just not a whole lot to say about this episode (which I know sounds strange coming from me given my long review - but I had to really stretch to come up with even that much to say). It's a very dialogue heavy episode with out much going on besides.

We'll get a better feeling of how well-watched this arc is come the 3rd or 4th episode of it.

There has been an official live action thing regarding Haruhi(BLR-related video). Two, if you want to count the scene in LIS 2. Three, if you want to count the ASOS Brigade stuff.

Anyway, aside from the Shinjin and... anything pertaining to the interfaces, there really wouldn't be too much that's hard to pull off with live action.

Ironic how complaints about repetitiveness had a habit of repeating themselves, isn't it?

Except for actors. Japanese acting is really mostly... ugh... and you have to cast young-looking actors as well to portray high school students, chances for any good acting at all are zero.

DO NOT WANT!!!

To stay on topic:
I missed Haruhi's expression after the race the first/second time around. I loved how she was saying she wanted a come from behind win, but she was clearly trying to hold back her overwhelming joy.

That would be great, agreed. The fact that she looks good for the role is excellent since she's the actual voice of the role already.

I gotta say this
On the first part on the race I notice the yellow ribbons and the banner
It reminds me of tita cory (The late Cory Aquino). I loved Edsa and the people power that set the sight of the world on the might of the citizen who were willing to die for a cause they Believe in
Well I gotta say this because Every filipino were change because of Cory Aquino and the Edsa People Power 1986

Thank You Very Much and Goodbye Tita Cory

I think that he means "live action inspired from anime/manga".
He has a point here, I don't remember a single live action from manga (or video game) that was even remotely good.

"Live action always=fai no matter what" sounds allot more general than that

Does that mean you think all live action T.V. is lame by default? Does that include movies?

Uh...but Haruhi is based on a novel series, not a manga. So...

Yeah, but it was starting to be overly long. I still put it in the same ballpark.
Let's say, the geek-otaku-whatever production very rarely get good adaptations in live action.

Context. When you're in an anime forum, and in a thread talking about anime, then it is obvious that unlabeled "live-action" refers to a live-action adaptation of an anime (though not necessarily the anime being discussed generally in the topic) -- just like when you're in a gaming forum, unlabeled "live-action" is understood as a live-action adaptation of a game.

And yes, live-action adaptations have a reputation for being generally fail -- mediocre at best. Though we do get some good ones, like GTO.

The live-action Death Note looked good to me - mind you, I never watched it, but I was impressed with how they made Ryuk look, and everything else looked solid.

Many western comic book characters have been excellently converted into live-action, so I don't see why anime/manga would necessarily be fail.
