yes. sakuya's entrance is flat and boring. it should be emotional and full of feels but it's been shafted. heck, that whole battle scene should leave one dried of emotions. they don't die once there. they die and ressurect, as long as there are enough aurora to resurrect them. it's brutal battle and sakuya raring to save the day brought manly tears to me. especially the sacrifice that sakuya die to bring himself there.

ok, i'm gonna be the one which "never watched/played/read the original source and say:

while i liked the first season with all crazyness and action i could still "understand what was happen until near the end but now on this season and this called "moon", let's go my impressions:

WTF!!!!, someone please can explain what the hell is happening here??? i never see a anime so confuse and crazy as this 3 or 4 episodes i totally lost about what is happen??, why kotaro love so much kagari???, what is kagari???, what is koutaru??? i really can't understand anything and feel completely lost here, the only thing i could understand is which they died to protect kagari and help her fix "the world" and nothing more, all the plot i really feel like a big mess with none sense and only if you really already aware of the source which you could understand this serie but without it you get easy lost with all the crazyness and nonsense.

i really hope someone can really explain what the hell is happening here.

And my last thing is about the druid girl, she for sure of all the girls here is the one which i really, really feel sad, because she was the one which "did more" for koutaro and sufered more from her duty, i really feel bad for her, while the others girls also have some "bad and dark past" her looked like the more suffering here.

Episode 3

While I really like the world they're going for, the problem is that they aren't explaining shit here. I have literally no idea what is going on in this world. Nothing is making sense. They were on the moon all this time? Time was stopped for Koutaro? Sakuya and Koutaro are similar beings? Koutaro can turn into a monster or something? Many things made no sense.

The part where everyone was dying was supposed to be full of feels and depended largely on the rushed first season. It felt okayish but could have been better if they had given the characters more time. The CGI monsters ruined most of the action scenes because everything looked very off which was also the case in much of the first season.

Now the world is supposedly fixed and they're all going back to Earth and there'll be no Kagari anymore.

For those who are very confused by the events of Moon Route, here is a very rough explanation of what happened and some clarification too just in case. While I put them in spoiler tags, they are pretty much what that route is supposed to be and explanations from Terra route will be omitted for obvious reasons.

Spoiler for Moon Route:

Moon route is, as you have seen, quite literal: all the events you have seen right there occured on the moon.
The reason is simple: The Earth failed again to have its re-evolution complete, so its life essence, the Aurora, has been sent to the Moon as a latch ditch measure.

The Kagari right there is basically the avatar of the Moon (which is the very reason why she acts quite differently compared to Kagari in the first season and why she was automatically killing Kotarou whenever he got close in the early part of Moon Route). Her mission is to help the Earth by making simulations with the Aurora to find out a way to save the Earth without wiping Humanity.

Kotarou ended up there without much explanations although there are hints that he was created by every kotarou's wish to find happiness after all the failure that occured on earth (as explained by Kotarou in Moon Route, every route end up with the Earth destroyed at some point, whether or not the Song of Salvation is triggered or not).
That's why Kotarou somehow remembers what happened with every girl as he is pretty much the "complete existence" of Tennouji Kotarou.
But because of that, his nature isn't completely friendly towards "the key" because the key was the reason why life got extinct in some routes (as implied, the salvation was triggered during Shizuru's route for example).

That being said, "Tennouji Kotarou" finally learned a bit more about Kagari (or rather Moon Kagari in this case) and decided to help after learning first hand her efforts and purpose.

Meanwhile, Kashima Sakura's hatred for life was so strong that she manages to summon familiars to the moon in order to stop Moon Kagari's efforts in saving both the Earth and humanity. Although there is no direct explanation how she did that, it is very likely her actions are similar to Kotarou: her existence itself manifested this way considering every Kashima Sakura of every route beared the same hatred, so you can bet her efforts literally bended "the rules" sort of.
As for why she hates life so much...

Spoiler for Explanation regarding Kashima Sakura's hatred:

The "Saint" that has been revered by the Marthel/Gaia's group is basically a woman who is infected by Demon/Familia cells in their brain. This occured with the original Saint who was basically a normal girl who gained healing powers. As her powers helped people, they also made people fear her. In the end, she was persecuted and her despair lead to that transformation in her body. As result, when a Saint dies, the cells are basically "transferred" to another vessel and bestows the healing powers, but also memories and anguish of the original Saint.

This is because of these memories that Kashima Sakura went mad. Learning how Humanity was always "wretched" from the perspective of every Saint in existence before her made her conclude that not only humanity is despicable, but life itself is pointless, which is why she is hellbent to eradicate all life on Earth.

This point of view isn't shared by every Martel/Gaia followers. Most believe that the planet is more important than humanity and hope the Earth would prosper without humanity crawling everywhere. Also note that there are other factions within Gaia that believe they should just keep humanity in check instead of going on rampage. Suzaki's faction leans to that direction.

Due to Kotarou's connection with Moon Kagari and her theory along with his multiple rewrite processes, he was able to call forth Kotori, Chihaya, Lucia, Shizuru and Akane.
Note that all of them are pretty similar to him: they represent the existence of their respective individual.
That being said, he just couldn't summon Sakuya.

Spoiler for reasons why he couldn't summon him:

Sakuya is pretty much similar to Kotarou as he was a superhuman who had the power to rewrite himself. As he abused this power in his time, he no longer existed as human but as a familiar. However, he failed to protect the one he cherished and turned himself into a tree, awaiting the next "humanity cycle". After an unknown period of time, Chihaya met him and he decided to serve her.

Following that, Sakuya's existence is pretty much "beyond" what Kotarou's can compute, which is the reason why Gaia call him the strongest familiar.
Considering Sakuya's nature, there was no way for either Kotarou or even Moon Kagari. But similarly to Kotarou's, Sakuya's existence manifested itself through the Aurora and made his appearance on the Moon as their last ditch reinforcement.

Everything else is basically what was shown during this week's episode: they stalled time so Kagari can finish her theory and sends it back to the Earth along with the remaining Aurora left for the very least re-evolution of the Earth.

As for what happened Kotarou in the past...

When Kotori was around 7 years old, Kotarou was already of the same age as we have seen every since the start of the series: approximately 17 years old. He encountered Kagari (Earth) at some point and was killed by her. In a effort to save his life, Kotori begged Kagari to help her and the latter complied by giving her some of her ribbons which are made of Aurora. Kotori managed to save him, but Kotarou is no longer human, but rather half of a familiar because of this (hence why it is shown in Kotori's route snippet in the first episode of S2 why she is afraid of what would happen to Kotarou as she really thinks Kotarou became her familiar, and without the key to support his life, he would die the moment Kagari is killed in her route).
But even with Kagari's ribbon piece, Kotarou is left in a coma that lasted 10 years. This is how Kotarou could attend school with Kotori and co: biologically, Kotarou is of the same age, but originally, he is like 10 years older than the heroines.

"Tennouji Kotarou" realized this decrepency in this episode hence why he suddenly became much older looking. However, he didn't realize that this 10 year gap could be the solution of Moon Kagari's theory until he inserted that random comment in her theory.

hmmm, really thanks for the explannation this helped a lot but even with that explannation this serie still a little confuse probably the problem is the explanation from the next arc but still a very confuse serie.

It's been so long since I played the game but I'll try to answer as much as I can.

In the Moon realm Kotarou and other people's existence are just temporary projection from the different branch worlds, even if Kotarou summons Kashima Sakura here and kills her, the woman won't die in all the branch worlds (and also the new world in the next episodes).

And there are different kind of levels of those monsters, even normal people like Yoshino thugs can still kill some monster dogs before being killed by the stronger and outnumbered monsters.

So let me get this straight, this whole time everything took place in the moon and the reason why the world died in every possible route was because the fact that the moon that couldn't support life for very long time? So now everything is getting transfer to Earth and life will prosper this time for sure?

The events that occured prior the Moon Route either occured on Earth or were simulated by Moon Kagari and concluded into failure.
Either way, they didn't occur on the Moon at all. Only the interactions between Koutarou and Kagari in S2 occured on the moon.

In essense, the Earth did several re-evolution, but was always stuck on a deadlock around the time events involving Kotarou and friends occured. That's why Moon Kagari tried to figure out all possibilities to undo that issue but to no avail (that's also why Kotarou also saw possibilities not even involving the girls of the okaken).

The Moon served as a "sandbox" considering the Earth barely has enough Aurora (life essence) to do 1 final re-evolution. That's the very reasons why Moon Kagari did simulations, instead of actually creating life on the Moon.

Man one thing i gonna say this serie is really trying hard to strike as the most "complicated serie" in anime ever with many crazy things happening and again this episode somehow showed it.

what was that beginning with koutaru appearing out of the blue like a "soldier" in a caravan in desert that was really so "random" then after this we go back "in time" at last it is what look, we go back to the time before "koutaro" goes comatose when the girls are still young and honestly more and more i feel bady for kotori honestly she look like the "best girl" here i really feel bad for her, more than the others girls.

I really trying to like and understood this serie but the ammount of "randomness" and lack of explannation is making too hard to get into it, if things keep on that way i will just be watching for the "lulz" more than plot because i really gett annoyied by the "confuse" and bad explained plot here.

The Earth is dying.
Kotarou from Season 1 is caught up in the war over the Key, the manifestation of the Earth who has the ability to reinitiate re evolution, in which case she does because Humanity has no potential to expand and instead just consumes all of the Earth's resources (S2EP2).
However, the Earth needs humanity because it's the only species with the concept of love, which is important in the universe because intelligence without love = no expansion. (S2EP2)
Humanity needs to expand because it is the will of Aurora, the miracle of Life. (S2EP2)

well that part i can understand but what is happening on this second season still confuse, like on this episode, because previous episode make looks like we goona get now only "one more world" not multiple but then in the start of this episode already looked like "2 universes" since we sawa a koutaro "adult" in a army in a caravan, then after he kill someone we get back to "school" like "whatt?????".

and really the pace of this anime is really terrible awnfull if not was for peoples which played the game and know what is happening "anime only watchers" could be totally lost cuz so far we get a lot of crazyness and almost none explanations or incomplete ones, the pace of this serie is being terrible on the second season, because based on the OP we gonna get "another universe" or something like that where koutaro will be a "james bond" character making the serie look like "another serie", too much changes and crazyness for a single serie with so "few episodes" to explain everything.

It's called in medias res. If an episode / arc (especially where it was mentioned repeatedly the episode before that we're going to start anew) starts where nothing makes sense, maybe because it isn't supposed to make sense at first.

I mean we're starting with a reintroduction of Kotarou.

So we have James Bond Kotarou, and also Jerk Ass Kotarou, presumably alive at the same time? Whoah, what's going on here. Like Kotarou when he got healed with Kagari's ribbon looks more like in age like James Bond, but Jerk Ass should be the 'real' one since Kotori did say Kotaro wasn't as nice as he was before.

It's REAL weird too with the times, since monocle guy was like jiichan age in the 'normal' timelines, but he looks awfully young here even though this should only be like 10 years before the 'normal' timeline. I have no idea if this current timeline is pretty much the real past of the 'normal' timeline, or this is a brand new 'final' timeline that Kagari sacrificed herself to make. Need more info in the next episode.

In any case, it seems like Akane knew Kotarou even earlier than Kotori. So I don't quite hate her as much now... Which reminds me, I remember the ED in the first season, where all the girls meet the tree as kids, with the tree being shown as Kotarou. Like the question of whether Kotarou is part of the tree notwithstanding, does this mean that Kotarou has met all the other girls as kids before he lost his memories?

let me see if get it right, in order to go to moon he needed to use "all the power" of all his "reincarnations" leaving none "life in earth" to be ressurected then his death in moon was permanent and he can't be reborn on earth i'm right???

Sakuya basically summoned all of his familiar selves from the possibility timelines on "The Moon", sealing his fate as a Rewriter familiar who can never go back to Earth. (He most likely used the same unknown method Kashima used to summon familiars from Earth.)

Well he ... kinda sacrificed himself for Kagari to finish implementing the Therory so I can't say he's alive either. He basically doomed his fate in other branch worlds to BE there only to sacrifice himself. orz

The poll is Kagari vs Kagari, which is stupid without the context that the Earth Kagari and Moon Kagari are actually two different girls.
