That. Was. SICK.

Mind=blown. Rebooting...

WOW. And I do mean WOW. I watched the entire episode at practically full volume. And it was a good pain.

I wish my Nanohaism didn't get in the way. I kept seeing similarities even though they were all cursory ones. Drill Raising Heart? Zankantou Aoi Plasma Zamber? Device chimes? Gratuitous German? And a closing shot of the White Devil?

I guess 1 year on, we have our next 'spiritual' offspring of the Nanoha franchise, but emphasizing the Lyrical part now.

the story is quite bad, but the characters are interesting and the battlesuit designs are nice

Hibiki should be inheriting Kanade's power, also already hinted she will end up like Kanade

would like to see how everything linked together, btw they could have spent a bit more time on the designs of the Noise

Hmmm. A recipe for Symphogear. Take a cup of Macross, a spoonful of Eva, add a dash of Precure, and stir well...

I think I need to give it more episodes before I know what's what, but certainly this first episode had its appeal. I did like the 'special attack' banners.
I think it had quite an 'old school' feel to it, as well.

I did laugh at the "A CD in this day and age" - "CDs have so much bonus material" bit - unsubtle marketing eh?

everyday I'm shuffling

seriously, in a city where noise is a well-known threat, how come it took the army until now to realise "oh sht we can't do sht with our weapons"?? Also, hey, let's gather these huge number of people on top of what's possibly the evil artifact that could might as well draw in those noise? Fk protecting those people, let's just offer them as feast for noise. No safety precaution protocols for the citizens? Not enough data? oh hey those idols can kill them so why can't we use similar technology? or are those too mystical to apply to other parts?

unless I'm missing something, those plot holes are just killing my brain cells.

So far I'm hooked. I haven't watched Macross yet so my enjoyment wasn't diminished due to whatever comparisons. But the second episode of this possible two-part intro should probably let me know whether or not I'll stick to it or put it off for later.

I agree with Dops opinion on those 'special attack' banners. They were quite nice along with the animation, singing, and bgm.

One thing that stuck out are those lousy alien monster designs like that one that looks like a sausage wearing a thong. Would it hurt for them get someone who can design monsters who actually look threatening?

To be honest at the beginning I though I would drop this one, but when I watched it whole, I changed my mind. I'm gonna give this one a few more episodes to decide.
So far it looks interesting.

What came across my brain when I see the Noise = monster designs for Ultraman series from 2 decades ago lol

But I'm frustrated about Kanade

Uhh.. yeah..

Spoiler for Episode 1:

The music, character designs, minus Hibiki's (her eyes bug me), animation are all pretty good. Also, fanservice!

Kanade's hair.. reminds me of a rooster. XD

Yeah, though I'd rather just have Kanade back.

Also, I'm not sure if that's a given anymore, they go back 2 years from the point where she's dead but then after the battle they go back forward 2 years again and now she's still alive, though I guess there's still the possibility since we don't know if they forwarded back to the same day.

jeroz: Agreed, the concert was an awful idea by whatever organization they work for waiting for a disaster (and 4th wall, the stupidity cost the most promising character in the show, doubly awful).

I honestly don't see the reason of Kanade's praise. Also the ending of the episode left me a certain deja vu but for reasons I can't really explain... Though in the end it was like I was expecting it to be, i.e. good.

they go back 2 years from the point where she's dead but after that, forward to the "present day", not 2 years later. which mean that the beginning of the ep was the future, not the "present day"

First episode managed to be entertaining and dumb at the same time. Guess that makes it kinda of decent. The animation was definitely the highlight.

Yep, those same issues pretty much broke my "suspension of disbelief", and dragged the episode down to "shut my brain off when watching" level. At least it's pretty and sounds good.

22 minutes into watching this first episode I figured there is nothing that can keep me watching yet another shallow plotted show centered around cute girls and cool graphics. Then 22:23 she makes that damn face and now I have to keep watching. Wtf is with the human brain? No wonder it's so hard for T.V. companies to know what will and won't work.

I think everyone on the team making this is really talented, but the guy doing the plot crossed the thin line between "talented" and "insane". If there is a guy doing the plot, of which I'm not really convinced. But! With cute girls in mecha suits doing awesome fighting scenes while singing, who cares about plot?

...I guess some people do. If the plot holes make your brain hurt, then you don't have the volume up loud enough

Yeah I guess you're right, it did say present day and not two years later after the midpoint.
