Let alone the inconsistent art/graphics quality, this has been the greatest episode to date, with the Sieg vs Karna as the best highlight of the episode. That was some DBZ/Gurren Lagann-tier epic stuff that made up the inconsistency. Karna fought honorably, gave his all & then died in style, that he automatically become one of the most respectable Servants by far. Thanks to the Achilles Kosmos that Achilles handed over to Astolfo, it able to tank Karna's NP long enough to gave Sieg a winning chance. Still trying to be Sieg's best girl, eh, Astolfo?
Felt sorry for Atalanta sinking deep with her "muh children" despair to the point of becoming a demon. She looked hot with that demonic form, though. Anyway, thank god for Achilles to intervene & end her miserable madness swiftly, while honoring his mentor's wish. He's quite a bro, really. Well, Achilles ended up died together with Atalanta. R.I.P. Achilles x Atalanta... It would have been... so good together as a couple... |

Well that was epic. In every sense of the word.
EDIT: http://www.typemoon.org/bbb/diary/#9 Seems even Nasu was impressed by the animation in this episode. Last edited by MCAL; 2017-12-10 at 14:26. |

Considering Karna was a lancer-class servant, he died a surprisingly dignified death.
No wonder he was selected as the best of the lancers in this article!: https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/fea...il-war/.125018 |

Well, damn. That was intense. I was actually impressed with Sieg here, he did a damn fine job holding out that well.
But Karna, naturally, stole the spotlight. The power of Saber of Black, the Kosmos shield, Astolfo, and even the sword Sieg borrowed. It took literally everything the series has been using to build Sieg up just to give him half a chance in hell. Oh, spear won't work? Have laser spears from above. No? Eyebeams galore. Still not enough? Brahmastra bitches. Hmm, needs a tad more, eh? VASAVI SHAKTI I really want to see him and Gil go at it.

I was surprised that Assassin just let Ruler pass without a fight, I guess the writers decided that after the Atalanta/Ruler scuffle, we've had enough catfighting for now. Assassin said she was expecting someone else (the Mordred/Sisigo team?). Looks like Ruler will be facing off against Shakespeare/Caster next. From the way Assassin was talking about him, she seems to think he'll be especially effective against Ruler. This spectacular sky battle, featuring exploding 747s and a flying fortress, isn't being noticed by *any* civilians? |

As for Assassin vs Caster, it wouldn't have been much of a fight. Magic does nothing to Ruler and her physical strength is absurd. Jeanne would have just walked up and snapped her neck, which is a tad undignified for Semiramis. Also, fun fact I learned because of Fate, Shakespeare is one of the only people to ever portray Jeanne negatively. He wrote her as an evil witch in one of his plays.

Gil have a counter against Divine servants people tends to forget about: his chain Enkidu.
Even Achilles have to set up his barrier faster than Gil can shoot his chain. Only then, Achilles may have a chance against Gil. |

He dies, she dies, they die, everybody dies!
I mean I actually expected someone to die in the Red Faction to balance out Chiron getting offed and Astolfo essentially out of action, but 3 in 30 minutes? Yeesh.

Review/Recap.
It might be just me, but I thought the art was wonky more than anything during the fights. That might work on a different show, but I need it looking crisp during my Fate fights, not like the bounds were being stretched to where I could barely tell what was happening during the intenser parts. Which is a shame, because I loved the story being told this episode.

Vasavi Shakti is EX and nothing else. Gil dies terribly to it if Karna can land a hit on him. Just it'll never happen with Enkidu. |

first and foremost - an obligatory comment in the animation: this reminds me of a “certain fight” in Naruto Shippuden
.... ....so did Charon ask Achilles to take care of Atalanta? Or did he just do it out of respect for and pride of both being heros?

This episode made me a bit dizzy. The fights were over the top, all those lasers and explosions
The animation was great though. Karna and Achilles cemented themselves as two of the best servants in this war. Not just because of their absurd strength, but also thanks to their kindness and honor.
