What was that sudden hung up when Miyoko asks for help from Takano? Was he unwilling to save her at first, then decided to help her out because she's the daughter of a late friend of his?

the hung up was because Miyoko had used a... 10 yen coin. TEN yen...
that's like 0.08$ and this is the current change of today. considering how japan was much less prosperous around 80', you can tell it is even lower.

no wonder why the call is so short. actually, it is rather weird how miyoko is able to call Takano for such time with only 10 yens.

It's 1983 in the show, and Takano is probably over 30 considering her education credentials and years of work on the syndrome before Irie even shows up. The professor was working on the syndrome during World War II and through the American occupation which is not long over when Takano first arrives.

The one thing that confused me was how did Hifumi know where Takano was. Is it better detailed in the game or am I to believe that a wizard did it?

It is not really explained, but as you can see, Hifumi has some connections, and probably made a quick research. It shouldn't be that hard to trace Miyoko whereabouts if he has her full name + some detail like parents dead after a bus accident.

It's a good development to what caused Takano to do what she is doing now, but that still doesn't cut it to go to that extreme length to just prove to him. Bleh, I'm mixed now, used to like Takano when they didn't started to feed out that Takano was now the villain of all this now, either way, good episode.

This episode didn't do anything to quell my hate for Miyo, more the other way around.
He excuses for doing what she is doing is still pure insanety. Thank god her grandfather wasn't trying to build more efficient nuclear weapons only to be rejected. Cause she would kill billions just in spite then. Only thing these last to episodes has done is to explain why she is doing what she is doing. But the arguments are still that of insanety, which makes her excuses null and void. I hope that sicko will get a slow and painful death, considering the misery she had caused.
